  1. Looks like UNT's bowl swag is still being finalized. Details
  2. Concepts such as "intent", and "context" are now often willfully ignored if not convenient to the sensibilities of the person claiming offense.
  3. For sure. Whatever one might think about his magazine, it definitely is the "bible" for Texas HS football.
  4. Maybe there will be a bootlegger selling shirts after the show game. They usually have the best shirts anyway.
  5. That's the best Cameo video I've seen.
  6. Yeah, I don't get the "ethics" thing either. I mean--I *get* it, but one can't be ok with NIL and then have a problem with a coach bolting. Regarding Riley--he had built a successful pipeline to the west coast and southwest for OU. I think he may have felt that maintaining it would be easier with a PAC12 team than with an SEC bound OU. Just speculating though.
  7. What about "the little death"?
  8. Yeah, but he's still a TSA "agent".
  9. Generally, I agree with you, but the starters should all have been pulled in the third when the clock was running, IMO. Plus, you hand the ball off. You don't keep throwing.
  10. Not to derail this thread--Tutt was great. RIP. Wanted to also throw out there that UNT has produced some great drummers over the years. I got to see Keith Carlock with Steely Dan a few years ago. Some fantastic talents from the UNT music school.
  11. Meh. There's a grand tradition of Olympics held in countries ruled by ruthless, genocidal dictators. Looks like we're on schedule.
  12. Couldn't agree more. I think this is the best possible outcome for UNT as far as landing spots go. A lot of folks were on the MWC bandwagon, but I've never felt like that was a good home for UNT unless the move could have been made with a couple of other Texas travel partners. Even then, I thought it was a lateral move at best, for $ and recruiting reasons. TBH, I'm kind of excited about UNT being in a conference with Wichita State. They have skins on the wall in both basketball and baseball, and I think a lot of folks are unaware of how good they historically are in those sports. Obviously there may be some more dominoes that fall, but this is a great outcome in my book.
  13. I'd give you 100 likes for this post if I could. It's bizarre.
  14. It's a money-suck. I'd love to see it at some point, but now is not the time, IMO.
  15. You don't "apply" unless you know you're accepted.
  16. Who gives a sh!t?
  17. Yes it does.
  18. That was great! For me, the greatest college prank ever pulled off was the 1961 Great Rose Bowl Hoax.
  19. I don't get that from Geraghty's Op-Ed. To me, the key phrase is--"What do we have a federal government for? ...What duties should it prioritize? I think the priority above all else, and communication coming out of DC should be nothing but: "We are getting our folks the HELL out of Afghanistan, whatever it takes." That's it. That should be at the top of the honey-do list, and every media outlet should be hammering it until it's done. The "environmental things and other liberal policy" are all well and good. Not the job of the government, in my opinion. Those are noble goals, etc., etc., but that's a different topic and I want to avoid politics. What is remarkable to me about the Op-Ed is that there are private entities scratching and clawing desperately to get people out of that nightmare, but the vibe is that it seems like our leaders have simply bailed on the whole deal and moved on. Am I reading it wrong or are we as a nation really this feckless?
  20. Ridiculous. Shameful. **************************** Sacramento Bee: https://www.sacbee.com/news/local/article254412638.html "San Juan Unified School District officials last week said 41 students were trapped in Afghanistan — a sharp increase from the two-dozen-or-so the district had previously identified. Of the 41 kids, three were evacuated over the weekend from the war-torn country but remain overseas, district officials said." ******************************* LA Times story on college student's status for Fulbright scholarship: https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2021-10-05/afghanistan-fulbright-program *************************** Jim Garaghty comments: "Why are we relying on elementary-school principals to help get American citizens out of a country run by hostile extremists? America really does expect its educators to do too much. People become teachers and principals because they want to help people, but managing an overseas hostage-rescue operation is asking far too much. What do we have a federal government for? What is its purpose? What duties should it prioritize? Why is the federal government under President Biden contemplating creating a “Civilian Climate Corps,” building 500,000 electric-vehicle-charging stations, upgrading 4 million commercial buildings, offering cash rebates for purchasing energy-efficient appliances, and hiring 87,000 new IRS agents . . . when it is failing its most basic duty of getting our citizens out of harm’s way overseas? Before our government expands into vast new responsibilities and duties, is it too much to ask that it complete the task on this duty?" https://www.nationalreview.com/the-morning-jolt/dozens-of-american-children-remain-trapped-in-afghanistan-and-biden-moves-on/?utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=MJ_20211006&utm_term=Jolt-Smart
  21. I changed the title and description for clarity.
