Why should we care or even have an interest in what happens to Houston ? They aren't in our conference or on our schedule.

So apparently you don't feel that our inability to score from within the red zone is much of a problem or that the DL is a much bigger problem. Regardless of your cute Todd Dodge remark, I still believe the offense in the Red Zone is a bigger challenge. We: Scored under 25 points in 10 of 12 games, scored 30 or over only two times (Texas Southern & ULL) & 24 only 2 times. So we scored over 21 points in only 4 games (34,30,24,24).

I'm much more concerned about our ability to score in the Red Zone than I am about any part of our defense. Last season only 3 CUSA teams had a better scoring defense and 4 a better total defense. If we just hold where we are on defense and crank up the offense for some more points we'll win more games in '13.

ODU Football Ups Revenue $2,000,000

As long as they are also listed as passing Cougar High -
Old Dominion has been inundated with football ticket requests - and has raised $2 million in new revenue - as a result of the reallocation of season tickets. ODU received requests for 15,200 season tickets by the April 15 deadline. Although that's nearly 1,100 more than the school had last season, athletic director Wood Selig said it will meet the additional demand. Foreman Field seats 20,066 and has been sold out for all 29 home football games ODU has played. Season tickets are reallocated every four years. ODU raked in $1.5 million more in donations between Jan. 1 and April 15 than in the same time frame last year, an increase officials credit largely to the ticket reallocation. Officials said they believe the increase in donations will be permanent, because fans recognize that if they reduce their giving, they could lose their seats. ODU also will reap an additional $500,000 per year from increased prices for football tickets and luxury suites, said Mark Benson, who heads the school's fundraising foundation. http://hamptonroads.com/2013/05/odu-gets-creative-fill-football-ticket-requests

My motto "hard work pays off". -
Much of last week’s meetings focused on television contracts. Conference USA has deals with regional Fox Sports networks and the CBS Sports Network that provide about $14 million in revenue per year. Combined with the NCAA distribution of basketball tournament revenue, each school receives around $1.5 million in conference revenue. Fox and CBS officials attended the meetings, Selig said. Fox officials told Conference USA that the league will have a high-profile role on that company’s new national network, Fox Sports 1, which is envisioned as a competitor for ESPN. Selig said that network will be a part of local cable TV packages in Hampton Roads. http://hamptonroads.com/2013/05/odu-conference-usa-will-have-high-profile-new-national-fox-sports-network

A frat pledge who worked PT for my dad was dumped just across the line in Oklahoma to find his way back to Denton wearing overalls, shoes, no shirt, ID or money.

It wasn't all bad and it was a much simpler time. Parties at Shahan's Point (Lake Dallas), pantie raids at Oak Street Hall, racing to get your date to her dorm before curfew. Remember racing like mad one Saturday nite to beat curfew & the Highway Patrol chased me into Denton. When I told him why I was hurrying, he took my license & let me get her to the dorm. I then met him at the old Y Café.& got my license back. Of course he also gave me a speeding ticket. Freshmen were to wear "beanies", but being a vet and as old as many seniors, I didn't & was never challenged. During pledge week there were numerous outrageous sights on the downtown square. Side note: My first year was '56, also Abner Haynes (#28) freshman year.

Notes and thoughts from the final stop of the Mean Green caravan
MeanGreen61 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Maybe the Iowa game is being reset for another year. We're just looking at what the current schedule shows and don't know what is actually happening regarding the schedule. It's hard to make judgments when you're not privy to all the info. -
I'm onboard with WINNING . Everything else is just BS.
-
Is there a good reason to continually bring this stuff up and reliving events of the past? Every school has kids who will make mistakes. Every school has their own way of dealing with these kids. Every school has a poster or some posters who want to be judge, jury and executioner even though they do not have all the facts or all the info on what's happening.

Isn't this just number of wins and not an actual strength ranking ?
