Sun Belt Football Media Day's Top Storylines

Sun Belt news ????????? -
3. North Texas – I’m looking for big improvements for the Mean Green in 2013, as head coach Dan McCarney is finally starting to get his recruits on the field. North Texas also has a transfer expected to start at quarterback, as they add in former Kansas signee Brock Bergland. As a whole the Mean Green have 17 starters coming back and with a couple of favorable non-conference matchups, I’ll call for them to get back to a bowl game for the first time since 2004. http://www.boydsbets.com/conference-usa-football-predictions/

4-star Scott Young may not be the shoo in choice for Tech's QB that many thought. His questionable mobility is probably one of the reasons Mac was more interested in BB. Here's a part of a post that a Tech fan posted on the CUSA board. "Truth be told, we need it right now. From what I've heard, the guy most would call the "clear favorite" hasn't locked the job up completely. He has the better arm, but if his backup could be more accurate it wouldn't surprise me if he got the job. He has more mobility but yeah, hasn't really shown he can be trusted with the ball for 12 games."

That means getting out of Conference USA, according to Carlisle, where the plate of conference foes suddenly became a lot less appetizing with the formation of the new American Athletic Conference this year. “Trying to be in this weak conference and playing Florida International and North Texas, the idea you’re going to bring 25,000-30,000 folks to your stadium isn’t going to happen,” Carlisle said. http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/article/20130623/NEWS01/306230025/New-USM-athletic-director-choice-crucial-supporters-say?nclick_check=1

"The Pac-12 is not expected to renew its contract with the New Mexico Bowl when it runs out after this season, according to two sources. Conference USA will likely replace the Pac-12 and play the Mountain West Conference representative for the 2014-19 cycle, according to a source."

Sigh. Ya try to be upbeat about the upcoming season, then a few posters over here seem to take that energy away with their Mean Green will or could be a train wreck posts. Guess the best thing to avoid depressing attitudes is to stay away.

So sad isn't it ? Guess North Texas needs to be envious and jealous of all. Everyone does everything so much better. TIC -

Correct and Tulane, Tulsa and ECU will be gone. 2014 is the first year of the "new" CUSA.
