Barkley has already had conversations with JJ, it remains to be seen if he will officially interview. BTW, if Johnson leaves LSU JJ with have to battle Ok.State assistant Butch Pierre for that position. Pierre has recruited the best of Louisiana over the past decade and continues to do so now. It's not a given he will get the LSU job.

Ok, I know that comparisons are bad, but rationalization is fairly normal. So here goes. Know we lost by 20 and we're disappointed even though K-State is ranked #7 in both polls. Wonder how these folks feel; especially the two from the WAC & CUSA ? Higher seeds than us and less than close losses to lower seeds than K-State. #23 Texas A&M (5 seed) 69 Utah State (12 seed) 53 ... 16 point spread (we played A&M closer in their house) #11 Butler (5 seed) 77 UTEP (12 seed) 59 ... 18 point spread #18 Pittsburgh (3 seed) 89 Oakland (14 seed) 66 ...23 point spread Note: UTEP (CUSA) had 58 Top 25 votes, Utah State (WAC) 3 Top 25 votes.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but beleive the NCAA tournament only invited 32 teams then.

Remember attending a game at Moody in '76 with a group from the office that included a couple of smoo grads. The ponies were gonna win without any difficulty . Enjoyed counting their $$$ after the ponies got whacked 96-88 in their house. Strangely, beleive that NT and West Texas State were the top Texas teams that year. That season (75-76) NT only lost 4 games (Memphis, West Texas State (1-1 split), Utah State and Bradley(1-1 split). Beat Baylor and Arizona State during a 22-4 season. In the 76-77 season NT was 21-6 beating Kansas State,Baylor,SMU,TCU,Tulsa, San Diego State and Fresno State.

What struck me about this year's press conference is how calm and collected UNT's players appeared to be heading into their game against Kansas State tomorrow. Josh White and Eric Tramiel were on the podium for UNT. They are more of the serious types anyway, not that there is anything wrong with that. I get the feeling that UNT's guys are on a mission to have a good showing tomorrow.

Sure that JJ's dream job would be at LSU. I've read that he and his family are very happy in Denton so, other than LSU, it may be kinda hard to pry him away if RV continues to review and sweeten his contact.
