  6. http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1072821 Sun Belt There are two games against FCS schools, the lowest number nationally and two fewer than last season. There also are 26 games against "Big Six" opponents, tied with C-USA and the MAC for the most nationally. Five of those games are on a Sun Belt campus. Florida International and Western Kentucky each are playing four "Big Six" opponents - which means that every non-conference game for those two is against a "Big Six" foe. Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe are playing three each. FAU is the only school in the nation with just four home games; everybody else has at least five.

  8. Off the CUSA board. Friday, April 9, 2010 Butler Hoops Team Under Investigation By ROBERT SIMMONS Associated Press Sports Writer INDIANAPOLIS(AP)--Butler's run in the NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship Game may be tarnished after report surfaced today that all 13 players on the roster are being given good educations in an effort to help them find good jobs after they leave the school. "It'simportantto remember that right now these are only allegations -- allegations that we are looking into," said NCAA president James Isch. "But, obviously, if true, this would be very disappointing. The NCAA has certain expectations and standards. It's not fair for players at one school to be given good educations while athletes at other member schools receive basic, remedial instruction that is worth essentially nothing." According to documents seized from the school's registrar's office, Butler players have received an education worth $38,616 per year totaling more than $150,000 over a four-year career. Compare that to player at a school like Kentucky , where tuition is set at $4,051 -- but with an actual value far below that. We don't want to say too much until these reports are confirmed," said Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari. "But we're talking about almost $140,000 difference in education per player -- and that's even if my players stayed four years or graduated, which many of them do not. Then these Butler players are reportedly stepping into good jobs after graduation while my kids, if they don't make the NBA, have absolutely no job prospects or life skills. It's far from a balanced playing field. They are buying the best players by giving them a high-priced education." In addition to the allegations that they were given an expensive education, many Butler players have been spotted around campus holding books, studying and engaging in interesting conversations. Others have been seen with people who are known to not be tutors. Butler point guard and Kentucky native Ronald Nored, who is reportedly a secondary education major, denied allegations that the Bulldog program is cheating. "The discourse on this matter is fatuous and inane," he said, implicating the program further. From the lighter side
  9. Post by ManzanoWolf on the Belt board. From the MAC Board; appears the SBC will be in this bowl quite often !!! Little Caesars Pizza Bowl and Big Ten Extend Agreement DETROIT – Big Ten Conference and Little Caesars Pizza Bowl officials announced today an agreement to extend their affiliation through the 2013 college football season. The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl will have the eighth selection of Big Ten bowl-eligible teams to face the first or second selection from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl at Ford Field in Detroit. The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl will have the first selection of MAC teams in even numbered years and the second selection in odd numbered years. “We are thrilled to continue our association with the prestigious Big Ten Conference,” said Little Caesars Pizza Bowl Chairman and Executive Director Ken Hoffman. “The presence of Big Ten teams in our bowl has created considerable fan interest as well as some of the most exciting and competitive games in our history. And with Little Caesars locations across the country, awareness for the game is heightened.” Big Ten teams are 1 – 1 in the bowl since it began its affiliation in 2002. Both the 2003 Bowling Green-Northwestern matchup (28 – 24) and the 2007 Purdue – Central Michigan matchup (51 – 48) were decided by last minute drives. The Purdue – Central Michigan game remains the second highest-scoring game in major college bowl history. “We are excited to extend our affiliation with the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl and provide even more bowl opportunities for our student-athletes, coaches and fans,” said Big Ten Commissioner James E. Delany. “Big Ten appearances in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl have produced some of the event’s most memorable matchups and we look forward to more exciting competition. With the number of Big Ten alumni in the Detroit area and an outstanding facility like Ford Field, the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl is a natural addition to our bowl lineup.” The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl also announced a back-up agreement with the Sun Belt Conference, in the event that the Big Ten does not have an available bowl-eligible team to play in the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl. The Sun Belt Conference has a 1 – 1 record in the bowl as well. Central Michigan defeated Middle Tennessee State (31- 14) in the 2006 bowl, while Howard Schnellenberger-led Florida Atlantic toppled Central Michigan (24 – 21) in the 2008 bowl. The Little Caesars Pizza Bowl will be again be televised on national cable TV via ESPN. The bowl website is located at http://www.littlecaesarspizzabowl.com.
  10. Thought this comment by Tune in the quarterback article deserved a seperate thread. Any thought ? Interesting comment ! “The last couple of years, leadership in the off-season has been lacking,”

I just need to become more comfortable in that role.”
  14. So why are you concerned ? By your own posts you will not donate, will not buy tickets or have anything to do with the team until changes you want are made. The offense will be OK without Riley at quarterback. The program will be OK without Shafts support.
