  4. That grouping for an EWAC won't happen.
  5. Should we root for SMU to get a MWC invite ? 1. Opens up a slot in CUSA west. 2. No question the DFW market would not be represented and it is the CUSA home. 3. A regional conference set up without the snooty Ponies ? Not a bad thought TCUFrogAB Boise to the Mountain West, is Houston or SMU Next Next week there will be an announcement of Boise coming over to the MWC and Nevada, Fresno, Houston, and SMU being the next targets. People have come to think that Utah will be heading to the Pac 10; however, this may not be true. Rumor has it that Colorado, Texas, and A&M are on the Pac 10's short list and that Utah and BYU will stay put in the MWC as we could get an auto bid come next season. How will this effect Conference USA? Who knows, will the conference go after Temple, MAC schools, Sun Belt schools, D-1AA schools?

  9. So others can do it, but it can't be done at UNT ?
  10. http://cal.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1089778 Birgeneau (California Chancellor) confirmed that the chancellors and presidents of the Pac-10 member schools will be holding a conference meeting on June 6 in San Francisco, and said that he would be "surprised if something did not happen that revolutionized college athletics."
  11. Didn't SMU have a freshman QB last season ? 8-5 with a bowl win and have a big turnaround from the previous season.
  12. Someone once said "there ain't no free lunch". There is a price for upgrading.
  13. Of the 120 schools in the FBS, only seven have athletic budgets under 15,000,000. Of the seven, only ONE........... Louisiana Tech is not a Belt member. Wondering if there will be many, if any, changings in the latest report due out soon ?
  14. http://blog.philsteele.com/2010/05/29/2010s-of-letterman-returning/ North Texas #2 in the Belt & #43 nationally with 72.7%
  15. Some more non-AQ conference comparisons. How the Belt stacks up vs the others. Information from the official NCAA site. The Belt is well behind the MWC, CUSA and WAC. 16. I'll take it !
  17. Compared to the other non-AQ conferences, the Belt is akin to Sisters of the Poor. CONFERENCE COMPARISONS - PUBLIC SCHOOLS ONLY - YEAR ENDING JUNE 2009 Mountain West Lowest budget $21,681,000 (Colorado State) Only CSU and Wyoming under $30,000,000 MAC Lowest budget $16,321,000 (Bowling Green) 4 schools with budgets under $20,000,000 WAC Lowest budget $13,900,000 (La Tech) 3 others (idaho, Utah State, San Jose0 with budgets over $15,000,000 but under $20,000,000 CUSA Lowest budget $18,623,000 (Southern Miss) All other budgets over $22,000,000 SUN BELT 6 of 10 schools have budgets under $15,000,000 3 at $12,000,000 or less (ULM, ASU, ULL) 4 have budgets over $16,000,000 (FIU, WKU, MTSU, UNT) Remaining 3 (USA, Troy & FAU) range from $12,875,000 to $14,389,000) CONFERENCE AVERAGE $29,275,000 - Mountain West $25,958,500 - CUSA $20,717,700 - MAC $18,908,900 - WAC $13,388,200 - Sun Belt

  19. With your $15,000,000 say goodbye to ULL ($12,000,000), USA ($12,875,000)and Arkansas State ($10,745,000)along with ULM. Also would make FAU ($14,110,000) and Troy ($14,389,000) borderline along with saying no thanks to Tech (13,900,000). The Belt is what it is. The lowest hanging fruit on the tree.
  20. 1. We need to take care of ourselves and do what's best for us. We have no obligation or need to be tied to ULL. Let them take care of their own interest. 2. ULM is not gonna get kicked out of the Belt. They are a charter football member and without their initial participation, there would be no Belt football. Tech's biggest problem is Tech.

  22. If he is interest, I'd certainly rely on JJ's judgement and be happy with his decision. He's got a darn good batting average with transfers.
