  2. http://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports/college/fau/blog/2010/06/sun_belt_talking_ehancement_as.html Waters is playing offense right now, which is pretty interesting, given how the ground is shifting under everyone. “Today we are very much in enhancement mode in our league,” Waters said. “What can we do to improve the quality of our league?” Yep, Waters, who said their are two reasons to change conferences -- survival or enhancement -- is talking about adding members, and not just grabbing them because they are available, but picking and choosing ones that will help build the Belt brand.

  7. Appears they have the PAC10 offer but some of their backers prefer the SEC & they're trying to sort things out.
  8. PAC10 won't take a private Baptist university.
  9. Aggie Scout board. Posted: Today 1:37 PM Latest A&M Realignment Scoop We reported on the premium board that A&M did receive an unconditional offer yesterday morning. They are working on getting the details worked out and into written form before A&M makes a decision on what to do. Timing will be everything as Texas and the Pac-16 alliance is pressuring A&M to make a decision, and I could see the A&M admin get nervous and fall in line. Still, the A&M donors have overwhelmingly called the 12th Man Foundation and Bill Byrne to demand that A&M go to the SEC. That has made a difference, as it has caused the decision-makers to take pause and really buy time for the SEC option. They just need to see the details in writing. 11. A message to the Pirate Nation http://www.ecupirates.com/genrel/061110aaa.html Conference USA is rapidly preparing to compete for the remaining Big 12 members if the meltdown continues to a full implosion
  12. Post fromthe Muts Rivals board. Paul Clark CycloneReport.com Publisher Talk about it in ISU Confidential 2.0 A sports media columnist in Washington has reported - via Twitter - that Iowa State and three other Big 12 members are in discussions with the Big East Conference. Jim Williams of the Washington Examiner "confirmed" the information Thursday evening, saying that ISU, Kansas, Kansas State and Missouri are starting talks with the Big East. If that conference retained all of its current members through the evolving shake-up and expanded by four schools, it would grow to a 20-school conference for basketball and to 12 schools for football. A number of the Big East basketball schools are already Midwest in nature, such as DePaul, Marquette, Cincinnati and Notre Dame. The Big East is already far flung, stretching from South Florida to Syracuse. This is the first report of any dialogue between Iowa State and an existing BCS-level college conference.

  15. This is a critical time for UNT. Can't beleive that anyone including the BOR, Chancellor, Interim Prez or AD will be just sitting on the sidelines and observing; especially with the $78million investment in a new stadium.
  16. More cautious ? Maybe he would be more agressive knowing the length of his term. Not everyone want to sit behind a desk and twiddle their thumbs.
  17. If he's known to the folks he might speak to, doubt if the title would be a big issue.
  18. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/colleges/topstories/stories/061110dnsporealignmentbriefs.1d03559.html NORTH TEXAS New facilities are school's selling point DENTON – North Texas believes its new facilities, including a $78 million stadium in the works, make it an attractive candidate should realignment offer a change in affliliation, athletic director Rick Villarreal said. UNT, a member of the Sun Belt Conference, has built a softball field and a soccer stadium since it was considered for a spot in Conference USA in 2005, and broke ground in November for the football stadium, which will seat about 30,000. "I believe we have positioned our program so that we would be an asset to any conference with which we are associated," Villarreal said. Brett Vito
  19. Certainly doesn't seem to be anti-athletic. Hopefully he's still got a good relationship with CUSA folks It was the Tigers' last regular-season home game at The Pyramid -- the University of Memphis thrashed Tulane -- and University President Veldon Lane Rawlins was in a familiar setting -- the end of the team bench. As Rawlins was walking with the team toward the locker room it hit him: "I realized at that moment this was the last time I get to do this. I'm really leaving. It was painful to think about."
  20. http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives/2010/06/conference-realignment-thought.html I will tell you this -- UNT isn't spending $78 million on a football stadium to make sure it can maintain its series with Louisiana-Monroe. From the looks of things, UNT will know where its opportunities are pretty quickly

  22. Hello RV, an area Non-AQ AD is commenting. http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com/archives/2010/06/how-does-conference-movement-affect-smu.html "We want to play at the highest level and win at the highest level," athletic director Steve Orsini said in a statement. "Conference USA has been very good for SMU, but as we monitor conference realignments, we know there may be new opportunities for our program. As a department and as an Athletic Director, our duty is to do what's best for SMU. We certainly believe that SMU, with its academics, media market, facilities and overall commitment to athletics, would be an asset to any league. We're excited about the future of Mustang Athletics."
