  4. One thing that certainly didn't help was playing a Big XII schedule vs a WAC schedule.

  8. Post on the Belt board by Arkstfan. Interesting Travel numbers I've noticed Tech fans compare their travel to the Cajuns. I looked up the most recent numbers and Tech averages $1.9 million a year over the last four years, (big burst of spending in 08-09 the last year available) while the Cajuns average $1.2 million. A $700,000 difference. But it occurred to me that travel from Lafayette probably isn't the most accurate measure of travel costs when the schools are 180 miles apart, would have a difference in who they could bus to as members of the Sun Belt and would use different airports. It seemed to me a more accurate picture is easily obtained 35 miles away in Monroe. The number of bus trips would be identical and the available airports would be identical. So I ran ULM's four year average and it was $850,000. That's a million dollar difference and if Tech were to ever choose to return to the Belt, the number would fall because well there is a school 35 miles away.
  9. Star Advertiser article http://www.staradvertiser.com/sports/sportsnews/20100629_WAC_expansion_unlikely.html UNT athletic director Rick Villareal said the school will hire a consultant to study the Mean Green's athletic program and make recommendations about its future before considering any moves.
  10. Don't beleive you can detract from Rawlins accomplishment of helping form that conference. They probably thought it was great at the time. Maybe being left behind when Louisville, Cincy and uSF went to the Big East ruffled them a little.
  11. Why ? The Muts have never won a title outright. They've shared 2 but always been the loser in the head to head with the co-champ.
  12. Got this backwards. UNT passed on the WAC In 2004 the WAC strongly considered the Mean Green, and although the conference passed on the program, Benson said that recent upgrades in facilities have made UNT a more attractive candidate six years later.
  13. Take the Millions the state give you out of your budget and see what happens to your surplus. It will be interesting to see what the "major addition" actually comprises.
  14. I doubt if Tech could afford the shipping cost.
  15. That area will be reserve for the mystery fans who help pump up their attendance.
  16. They are getting a new end-zone tarp.

  18. Commissioner Karl Benson attributed part of the drop in disbursement to the fact that Boise State received an at-large Bowl Championship Series bid, which pays at a lower rate than previous berths. In addition the number of shares from the NCAA men's basketball tournament has been declining as bowl costs have risen. The nine-member conference pools some of its bowl liabilities. Costs associated with the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl were expected to be higher with Nevada replacing Hawaii as the WAC representative in 2009. 19. Who sez it's credible ? It's just a post of interest from another board.
  20. Is there a reason that you continually refer to the WAC as the Wacy ? Many Folks don't like slangy references to the Sun Belt as being demeaning, but we have folks who do the same with conferences.

  24. Mentioned Hawaii because the did make it to the Sugar Bowl in 2007. Yep they got clobbered but are one of two WAC teams that have made it to BCS bowls.
