  1. I live in Corpus Christi and normally wear my UNT hat when out and about. I've never had a negative comment. I've occasionally had someone say "Mean Green", had a few positive comments on our basketball team and some comments from folks hoping that TD would be successful at UNT.

  4. I posted those on the Belt board trying to get a retro thread started over there, but not having much success. http://ncaabbs.com/showthread.php?tid=442975
  5. Beleive UNT will be much better at QB than most folks are predicting.
  6. Thanks for posting Adler. Great read.
  7. Beat writer projections are just the same as others; SWAG (scientific wild arse guesses). They feed all the data in, compute and spit out a best guess scenario. Then the little gremlin comes along and screws everything up. Pre-season preditions are just entertainment while we wait for the actual season to open.
  8. As I posted earlier, I'm not really thrilled with the current UNT unis. That said, my other than UNT favorite is Navy.
  9. http://www.collegesports-fans.com/football-previews/2010-preview/north-texas-mean-green.html EXERPTS With so much experience returning across the board and a few standout performers on hand, things look ripe for another big improvement on defense in 2010. While North Texas won’t make anyone mistake them for the Texas Longhorns, they should field a respectable defense for the first time under Dodge. I’m afraid I’m falling into a trap for the 3 rd consecutive season but I like this team. They’re deep along both lines, they have a great allotment of skill players and a good secondary and they have a few standout players on both sides of the football. Furthermore, they have about as easy of a schedule as they could manage without playing any D-1AA teams, so it is put up or shut up time for Dodge in his 4 th year. I think his team will play with a purpose and this could easily produce a six win season and a potential bowl berth.
  10. In our prayers.
  11. http://www.sportsmemo.com/blogs/view/?blog_id=4529 Rawlins said one of the challenges UNT faces is spreading the word about what it has to offer. He named the size of UNT’s student body, the school’s facilities and its market as the university’s strengths. “What has surprised me is what a great institution North Texas is and that more people don’t know that,” Rawlins said. “Athletics is a window to the university. We need to enlarge that window. The stadium is a step in the right direction. We need to do more marketing in the Dallas area.”

  18. Seems they passed the NCAA clearing house just fine and qualified, but the academic folks have the final say on who is admitted. Makes you wonder if some of the academic types may be trying to undermine Pony athletics. A little jealousy over Jones' $2M annually ?
  19. The public schools in CUSA aren't exactly bastions of academic excellence. It's doubtful they would agree to raising academic standards for athletic recruits.
