North Texas: Dan McCarney Rating: Love it. The Todd Dodge experiment went horribly wrong, so North Texas was absolutely right to go after a proven winner on the FBS level. McCarney spent 12 years as head coach at Iowa State, and remains the longest-tenured (141 games) and winningest (56) coach in school history. He spent the last several seasons as an assistant at Florida, and did the right thing when he kept Mike Canales on as offensive coordinator. With fertile recruiting ground all around him, plus a new stadium opening, McCarney has what he needs to build a winner. EXERPT We have been contacted by the MWC commissioner's office and they asked for an end to all expansion rumors that include "leaked" information. It turns out that some people on this board either have well-placed connections, or are really good guessers. THREAD http://www.mwcboard.com/www/forums/index.php?showtopic=30937

103. North Texas (3-9) 2010 CFN Final Ranking: 99 2010 Record: 3-9 2010 CFN Preseason Rank: 102 CFN 2010 Preseason Prediction: 3-9 2009 Final Ranking: 110 2008 Final Ranking: 116 UNT might have the best coach in the league in former Iowa State head man Dan McCarney, and there's a chance for a night-and-day improvement if everyone can stay healthy. The Mean Green lost 12 starters to injuries in 2010, and seven of them come back to an already veteran squad. America, get ready to know the name Lance Dunbar; he could lead the nation in rushing with McCarney sure to feed him the ball. ranking. http://cfn.scout.com/2/1040171.html

New Texas State head coach Dennis Franchione is already hard at work putting his staff together for the upcoming season. Along with Montana linebackers coach Mike Hudson, Franchione is poised to bring in current Blinn College offensive line coach Dennis Darnell and University of New Mexico offensive coordinator and running backs coach Darrell Dickey. EXERPT If UNT has to drag this town kicking and screaming on its way to a better tomorrow, so be it. The Denia crew and its beef is news. They will get their say and UNT will have its day in a new stadium. Not a bad tradeoff in the end. http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives/2011/01/the-denia-mess.html
