Take note, because its always worth a reminder: just because Indiana is ranked below North Texas doesnt mean the Hoosiers wont beat the Mean Green; it just means, in my mind, that U.N.T. will achieve more in 2011 than Indiana in other words, North Texas might go 5-7, 4-4 in the Sun Belt, which would mean more to me than if Indiana went 5-7, 1-7 in the Big Ten. Saw this on another board. Anyone have info on this guy ? Cam Feldt, OT, (6-4, 295) was granted his official release as of Friday morning and is free to transfer to a university of his choosing. He was member of the 2010 signing class at Arkansas and redshirted this past season. He would still have to sit out another year at a new school but that would leave him with 3 to play 3. Rice, UTSA, North Texas and Texas State are his offers as of today. Feldt played high school football at Pilot Point and his dad is the current head coach at Hays Consolidated HS. His brother Boone Feldt (6-3, 275) is a center on the offenive line at Hays Consolidated and is a 2012 recruit. 4-star from Pilot Point http://rivals.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Cam-Feldt-84716;_ylt=ApVDfHuOHQLbxgoOowROco5DPZB4

Recap of 2010 - In a nutshell It wasn’t really that ugly, but it was disappointing. Above all else, last fall’s slide to 4-8 ended Florida Atlantic’s climb up the Sun Belt; even in 2009, when the Owls finished below .500, Schnellenberger led his team to five wins in conference play. There was far less competitiveness in last year’s team, which won a game outside of the Sun Belt but couldn’t get to that sixth win even as the conference as whole failed to put together more than three teams worthy of bowl consideration. So that’s the bottom line, sadly. In terms of the on-field product, the Owls were poor defensively and awful offensively, with the former largely expected and the latter a serious disappointment — that word again. Think the Owls can turn it around in 2011? It’s going to take substantial improvement on both sides of the ball. 106. Florida Atlantic 107. San Jose State 108. Eastern Michigan 109. New Fau Stadium - Extimated $1.8M Game Day Revenue
MeanGreen61 posted a topic in Mean Green Football
Florida Atlantic University's new 30,000-seat on-campus football stadium could generate an estimated $1.8 million to FAU and the local economy on each game day, according to the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, a private, not-for-profit organization contracted by Palm Beach County to promote and market the County as a sports and sports tourism destination. MASSARO SPEAKS http://middletennessee.scout.com/2/1070926.html With conference expansion and realignment prospects cooling off ahead of the Sun Belt Conference’s annual meetings in Destin, Fla. in a few weeks, Middle Tennessee’s athletic director said he would support expansion within the league but only under certain circumstances.

Waters said North Texas, Arkansas State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe are “not interested” in joining the league, which is searching to bolster its ranks even further after the recent additions of UTSA, Texas State and Denver (non-football). “All four have called and said, ‘Just to let you know, they’ve called, but we’re not interested,’” he said. “I’m not worried about it. We’ve kind of moved on. There are other issues to worry about.” FULL ARTICLE http://blog.mysanantonio.com/utsa/2011/05/waters-source-wac-expansion-wont-include-sun-belt-big-sky-schools/

Regardless, we are looking to people from her era to rebuilt the program.

Coach Slinker must be having a good laugh. Two of her ass't coaches and a top player (now an ass't coach) have been tapped to salvage women's basketball.

League brass had hoped that all the details for adding an 11th football team, which would join the league in 2012, would be ironed out by the meetings’ May 22 opening. But that momentum has stalled in recent weeks, and it now appears unlikely to come to pass anytime soon Read more: http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/04/22/2183125/vote-on-expansion-during-spring.html#ixzz1KYXq0zUL

2. Dan McCarney, North Texas Career Record: 56-85 It’s not like things got that stale at Iowa State. McCarney had come up with five seven-plus winning campaigns in seven years at a tough place to consistently win, and then he was dumped. After bouncing around as a defensive line coach, he’s getting another shot at North Texas and he might be fantastic. Only 58 when the season starts, there’s still time for him to make the Mean Green shine. Hot Seat Status: None. After the Todd Dodge disaster, McCarney will get at least three years to make everything better. The Coaching Change Will Come … In ten years. At his age, McCarney isn’t going anywhere, but he’s young enough to build up the program and make it his for the next decade. It was an underappreciated hire.
