In the second half of last night's game, North Texas amped things up. They turned it up to 11, and I'm not sure if our amp even makes it to 10. That's the disgrace of the entire thing. North Texas has far better athletes than Western. I never thought I'd write that line, and it hurts me to do so. The second half really bothered me. NT had so many backdoor dunks. They took the swaddling off the baby and exposed its ugliness to the entire world. Bless Western's little hearts. Western's players looked lost on the court, and I could recognize how they were flattening out our defense, lining up like jets in a holding pattern, and then beating us to the basket. No wonder no one recognized six players on the floor for ULL because no one on Western's team seems to know where offensive players are on the damned court. Terrible. North Texas players walked down the baseline like they were walking alone in a park. http://www.hilltopperhaven.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24922 AND........ Calm The Heel Down....... i shouldn't even get on this board following a game. especially not a loss. i actually follow teams other than us. north texas has been counting the days to tony mitchell's eligibility since he came there from missouri. that's what a top 20 in the country player looks like. you won't see them very often in this conference. this is only his 9th game with the team and they're getting used to him. he's elgrace wilborn but more athletic. and shoots from distance like a 3. i think he's got some punk in him but when people been sucking your **** since you were 12 years old that happens sometimes. jordan williams, a freshman, basically has derrick gordon type numbers on the year. chris jones as a freshman is leading our conference in scoring. i did not expect a win down there. we didn't get one. johnny jones is a veteran coach that knows how to put a squad together. he should have taken them to the ncaa last year if not for a miracle 3 at the buzzer. http://www.hilltopperhaven.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=24918

Understand that Hawaii prefers their olympic sports in the Big West. Doubt you will see them as an all sports member of the MWC

Some time back, I saw on the board that Johnson had decommitted from Akron and signed or committed to North Texas. True or false ? He still shows as an Akron commit.

Two of college football's top conferences are going to go head-to-head in non-conference action starting in 2017. The Big Ten and Pac 12, according to a report by ESPN.com's Gene Wojciechowski on Wednesday, are going to organize a full conference vs. conference schedule agreement pitting all 12 members of each conference head-to-head for at least one game beginning in the 2017 season. The BOD unanimously approved the immediate submission of a request for an exemption from the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) granting the MW champion automatic qualification for the BCS bowls games following the 2012 and 2013 football seasons. The Mountain West met the threshold to request an exemption by virtue of its performance during the recently completed four-year (2008-2011) evaluation period. http://www.themwc.com/genrel/121211aaa.html MWC board thread http://www.mwcboard.com/www/forums/index.php?showtopic=38046

Internet "sources" say that Banowsky is a leading candidate for the Big XII commish job and that MWC's Thompson would be the man for the "MWC/CUSA" thang.

It's been replaced by a 90 feet of basketball thingy !

This is yesterday's news. CUSA board has a seven page thread. ECU folks are vocal & make frequent comments. Many turn out to be no more than a puff of smoke.

CUSA and MWC ahead of Big East. Belt ahead of WAC and MAC. http://espn.go.com/blog/statsinfo/post/_/id/31223/big-east-and-big-ten-jumped-in-rankings

A couple of weeks ago I opined that the Roadrunners, thanks to their success at the Alamodome box office and location in a major, untapped market, would have to be a strong candidate. Especially after a UTSA source told me it was on CUSA’s “short list.” Well, as I reported in last week’s column, that short list actually turns out to be pretty long, according to an athletic director in the CUSA. At least 10 schools, in fact, from at least three different leagues. Then came another source, who told me over the weekend that UTSA has been actively lobbying CUSA for an invitation, but that interest has been lukewarm at best. Is it just me ? I find myself reading less and less of Vito's offerings in the DRC. He seems to be stuck in a time warp with his love for DD and hatred of TD while taking the glass is half empty approach in writing about UNT. A fresh outlook would be nice.

The folks that make decisions are not message board posters and bloggers.
