If I'M not mistaken Moot posted fairly recently that construction would commence after the first of the year on the baseball stadium. -

So........ it's really just the opinion of one source and speculation, not fact.

Question for those (someone) in the know. If RF departed, would Bell possibly reconsider and stay ? I really have no basis for this question......but just a thought.

ON NORTH TEXAS OFFENSIVE SETS “They spread teams out more than they have in the past, with different personnel groups and different formations and shifts and that type of stuff. -
Frosh already in mix for UNT Several newcomers pay big dividends for women 05:30 PM CST on Thursday, November 24, 2005 By Brett Vito / Staff Writer North Texas coach Tina Slinker expected one of her best recruiting classes in recent memory to contribute to the Mean Green at some point in the 2005-06 season. She just didn’t expect it to be this soon. UNT is sitting at 2-0 heading into the Hew Hampshire Tournament this weekend partly because of a few key plays made by Tricia Lee and Sanetra Jackson in a win over Stephen F. Austin and a breakout performance by forward Amber Jackson in a win over Southern Arkansas. All three players are part of a five-player freshmen class that has quickly found a prominent role on a veteran-laden team. “You don’t know until you get freshmen here and in a Division-I game situation how they will play,” Slinker said. “They were highly billed and have shown that they can help us right away. Lee and Sanetra Jackson both made key 3-point shots in one of the Mean Green’s biggest non-conference wins in the last few years, a 71-65 win over Stephen F. Austin in UNT’s regular season opener. Jackson hit her 3-pointer just before halftime while Lee made hers late to put UNT up 55-45 with 9:57 left in the second half. UNT was able to hold on for its first win over SFA in the 26-game series thanks in large part to the lift Lee’s late trey gave the Mean Green. “I am a little surprised I am playing this much,” Lee said. “I was a shooter coming in, so it felt natural to take a shot in that situation.” The freshmen built on that performance in a win over Southern Arkansas on Tuesday. Sanetra Jackson and Lee finished with seven points and five rebounds apiece while Amber Jackson posted a breakout performance. UNT waited a full season to see what Amber Jackson could accomplish after the former Indiana standout missed last season with a knee injury. Jackson flashed her potential against Southern Arkansas when she finished with 10 points and eight rebounds, coming up just short of a double-double. UNT’s freshmen finished with 30 points in the Mean Green’s second win of the season. “I am just excited to play,” Amber Jackson said. “I feel comfortable on my knee again.” UNT is hoping the start its freshmen have produced is a sign that they will supplement a core of returning players and help the Mean Green capitalize on what is expected to be a breakout season. UNT was picked to win the Sun Belt Conference’s West Division in the preseason coaches poll largely because the Mean Green returned all five starters from a 14-14 team and all but one of their major contributors. Preseason All-Sun Belt Conference pick Erika Bobo and fellow senior guard Mian Williams have led the way so far for the Mean Green. Both are receiving a little help off the bench from a group of freshmen that has begun to live up to its potential. Sanetra Jackson and Lee were key parts of UNT’s signing class last season that included four players ranked among the top 35 high school seniors in the state by Texashoops.com. The group also included forward Ashley Vation and Jo Hall. Adding Amber Jackson to the group only helped bolster what has been a surprising group of newcomers that has made an immediate contribution for the Mean Green. “We have been able to give the team a boost off the bench,” Lee said. “We have learned a lot from the upperclassmen. We are fitting in well. The older players have welcomed us in.”

Arkansas State (5-5) at North Texas (2-8), 2 pm ET Why to watch: Arkansas State can win the Sun Belt title and get to the New Orleans Bowl by beating North Texas and hoping for a UL Lafayette win over UL Monroe. The Indians have had a strange season with occasional moments of brilliance mixed in with occasionally lousy performances, like last week's 38-10 loss to Army. North Texas has been one of the season's biggest disappointments, but it has also been a bit unlucky losing its last three games by a grand total of 11 points. On a five-game losing streak, a win over Arkansas State to end the Indian Sun Belt title hopes would be a nice way to end the season. Why Arkansas State might win: You don't lose as many close games as UNT has lost this year without a reason. The lack of a passing game, and the inability to move the ball in crunch time, and the inability to make the really big play when the offense has moved the ball late, has killed the Mean Green all season long. It hasn't helped that the defense hasn't come close to stopping anyone's rushing attack, and ASU has one of the Sun Belt's best averaging 196 yards per game. Why North Texas might win: The Arkansas State run defense was ripped to shreds last week by Carlton Jones and an Army ground game that cranked out 300 yards and four touchdowns. ASU also allowed three touchdown runs to MTSU and 457 rushing yards and five scores against UL Lafayette. Running the ball is the one thing UNT has been able to do relatively well this season thanks to ... Who to watch: ... senior RB Patrick Cobbs. Under the radar this year thanks to the poor play of the team, Cobbs has bounced back nicely from the knee injury that kept him out all of 2004 rushing for 978 yards and five touchdowns. He has completely carried the Mean Green offense over the last three weeks with 197 yards and three scores against UL Lafayette, 142 yards against Florida Atlantic, and 105 yards and a score against UL Monroe. Expect his eight 100-yard rushing day this season as he closes out his great career with a bang. What will happen: North Texas is way overdue for a break to go the right way and to be on the right side of a close game. CFN Prediction: North Texas 16 ... Arkansas State 13 ... Line: Arkansas State -2.5 | Make your pick and compete against others Must See Rating: (5 lock yourself in a room to watch - 1 The Biggest Loser) ... 1.5 SUN BELT GAMES http://www.collegefootballnews.com/sun_bel...ons/SunBelt.htm

The Sun Belt, does it have any hope? Guys, I am a North Texas fan, I know many of you dont want to even say anything about the sun belt, but I need your opinion, does the sun belt have any future in 1A? North Texas(the supposedly upper-teir team) has had three chances in the last year to prove they belong in 1A and have failed(54-2,40-14,31-10) to prove anything. This year, the sun belt has 1 1A win outside of the belt(MTSU over Vandy) Our probable champion is going to be ULM(who lost to 1AA Northwestern), and they will get blasted by a CUSA team, making the belt look worse and worse. We have, without a doubt regreseed considerably since last season, in your opinion, does the sun belt have any hope in competing outside of their own conference? Did you expect UNT to lose 54-2? Do we belong in 1A? Thanks. Thread started on CUSA board http://www.ncaabbs.com/forums/confusa/invi...ST&f=22&t=32337
