  3. UL-Lafayette is playing Bye Week, not McNeese. Hope they win Rooting for ASU vs Bye Week also
  4. Isn't the article more about DD reaching the 40 win total that Hayden had ? I don't see that as a true coaching comparison.
  5. "We should do very well," said Chuck Fuller, assistant vice president for Business Services. "They've always thought they were too good for us. Tomorrow, we're going to prove we're too good for them." Start 'um young Wear the GREEN !
  6. SUN BELT ROUNDUP WEEK 2 http://cfn.scout.com/2/567220.html Sun Belt Player of the Week North Texas QB Woody Wilson completed eight of ten passes for 103 yards and ran ten times for 74 yards and a touchdown in the 24-6 win over SMU. North Texas … After getting bombed by Texas, North Texas has to be ecstatic with the somewhat stunning performance against SMU. The Mean Green defense was terrific against the Mustangs, while the offense was able to hold on to the ball for 38:41. Most importantly, the offense showed it could produce even when RB Jamario Thomas wasn't going nuts. Woody Wilson had an efficient, solid game at quarterback and should provide some much-needed stability to the position
  7. AROUND THE SUNBELT http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/foo...unbelt/home.htm NORTH TEXAS NOTES, QUOTES GAME BALL GOES TO: WR Johnny Quinn — The senior had nine receptions for 130 yards against SMU. KEEP AN EYE ON: QB Woody Wilson — In his first career start at UNT, the junior college transfer threw for 103 yards on 8-of-10 passing and also rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown. QUOTE TO NOTE: "We have a nice mix of veterans and younger players who are learning how to win. We still have a lot of work to do as the year goes on, but this is a great way for our younger kids to get confidence." — UNT coach Darrell Dickey after the Mean Green's 24-6 win over SMU. STRATEGY AND PERSONNEL LOOKING GOOD: The Mean Green put a season-opening 56-7 loss at Texas behind them by dominating SMU 24-6. The run defense was particularly good, and the defense also forced three turnovers. The running game also showed signs of life. STILL NEEDS SOME WORK: The Mean Green's secondary was solid against SMU, but it is young and needs to gain more experience and confidence. It will have to be better the next two weeks when the Mean Green play at Tulsa and Oklahoma. ROSTER REPORT: Junior college transfer Woody Wilson has likely established himself as the starting QB after last week's performance at SMU. However, sophomore Matt Phillips did see some action. Sophomore QB Daniel Meager started last year but is out with a concussion. The Mean Green's 3-4 defense is allowing linebackers Brandon Monroe, Maurice Holman, Shawn Early and Phillip Graves to make more of an impact.

  9. Who's Hot ? The Sun Belt Even though the league only came up with one win, the traditional doormat for college football's rich and powerful showed that it's not just a league of cupcakes after, arguably, its best week ever. UL Lafayette got destroyed by Texas A&M 51-7 and Arkansas State and Florida Atlantic were crushed, but North Texas beat SMU 24-6, UL Monroe pushed Kansas in a 21-19 loss, FIU couldn't hang on late against South Florida losing 21-20, Middle Tennessee pushed Maryland in a 24-10 loss, and Troy gave Florida State all it could handle in a 24-17 loss.
