I'm aware of those camps, but the Junior Day last weekend still isn't mentioned anywhere. 90 outstanding young athletes on campus and there is zip in print about it, even on the UNT website.

Right, but that doesn't mean the press was invited or even notified and there's been no press release or even a mention on the official site.

Yes I am serious. Normally it would get a mention in the college section of the DMN, probably the Star-Telegram and certainly a mention in the DRC or Vitos Blog as it would be an event in Denton. Also TexasPrep didn't receive any word on the event.

Posted on the Sun Belt board by Bird of Paradise. Beleive he's a radio guy for ULL, but not sure. North Texas just had too much for Middle. Teams that match up with Middle on the inside will beat them because they just don't have the firepower on the perimeter. Ben Bell looked like an all league player last night. While UNT really misses the scoring potential of Davis, they look to each other as a team more when he isn't in the game. WKU fell into the trap that so many of ASU's opponents fall into. You always have to assume that Banks and Wells are gonna get theirs. What you have to do against the Indians is make sure that the support guys don't step up. If you shut down the others, Banks and Wells are hard pressed to beat you by themselves. And, for the second time, the Tops didn't bother to guard Wedel and he made them pay. The finals tonight hinge on that, I think. UNT has to make sure a third person doesn't catch fire for ASU. Simple as that. ASU is on fire right now and they have the momentum. But either team could win this one.....which is why the early line this morning was pick it.

Aren't you being a little hyper-critical ? If you need an Eaglemail to know the team is in the championship, you haven't been following the tournament. If you hadn't been following the tournament, you probably wouldn't be interested.

Did not see last weekends Junior Day reported in ANY of our area media. The only mention is the short report by Harry that 90 talented players attended. Understand that TD had closed practices while at SLC. Just wondering if it will now be much more difficult to follow the day to day activities and progress of the team ?

Hitting ticket sales goal a $$$ plus for ULM basketball coach ULM shows Early the money, with your help By Michael Kern mkern@thenewsstar.com Bigger crowds next season could mean a bigger paycheck for ULM men’s basketball coach Orlando Early. Early’s new contract extension has an incentive package tied directly to ticket revenues. That was one of many salary supplements in a contract extension approved by the University Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. Starting next fall, Early will receive a bonus paid by the ULM Athletic Foundation that kicks in once the school exceeds $100,000 in total ticket revenues. Once ULM surpasses that threshold, Early will receive a supplement equal to 20 percent of every additional dollar earned. For reference, the estimated revenue total by the athletic department for the 2006-07 season was roughly $80,000. However, attendance skyrocketed in the second half of the season, leading to expectations that revenues will be higher next year. “We saw this as one way to compensate (Early) that reduces our exposure a little,” ULM athletic director Bobby Staub said. “If we do really well at the box office, then he benefits. If we don’t, then we don’t get hurt.” Early’s annual salary will operate on an escalating scale. He will be paid $115,000 for this season, $125,000 for 2007-08, $130,000 for 2008-09, and $135,000 for 2009-10. Early can earn additional on-court performance bonuses such as $3,000 for winning the Sun Belt Conference regular season championship, $5,000 for reaching the NCAA Tournament, and $5,000 for each victory in the NCAA Tournament. By comparison, ULM football coach Charlie Weatherbie will earn $150,000 for the 2007 season, according to his contract extension approved by the ULS Board of Supervisors. The football coach will be paid $155,000 in 2008 and $160,000 in 2009. Weatherbie’s contract incentives include $5,000 for finishing with a winning record, $5,000 for a share of the Sun Belt championship, $5,000 for a bowl invitation, and $10,000 for a bowl victory. The football coach also receives use of a university-owned house as part of his compensation. Both coaches receive use of a vehicle provided by a local car dealership. As part of their contracts, both coaches are required to participate in an appropriate number of nonconference “guarantee games” to help generate money for the athletic department. Weatherbie can’t be asked to play more than three guarantee games unless mutually agreed upon by him and Staub. Early can’t be asked generate more than $150,000 worth of guarantee game contracts unless he and Staub both agree. In addition, both coaches have incentives in their contract tied directly to academic performance, using the NCAA’s Academic Progress Rate grading scale. Both coaches receive a salary supplement if their score exceeds 950 and larger bonuses if it exceeds 975 or reaches a perfect score of 1,000. By contrast, if either team’s APR score drops below NCAA standards and results in penalties for the school, that coach in no longer entitled to any contract incentives until the penalties end.

Huge factor was the team stepping up to fill the void caused by Davis & Sterns being a unbeleivable 2 of 27 from the field (Davis 1-18, Sterns 1-9). Missed a lot of points from those two.

Beat 'um by 13 (66-53) in our only meeting this season. Hopefully it'll be a repeat tomorrow nite.

I'll say with the utmost sarcasm that I don't think your "giving" exceed quite a few on this board. That said, we need another student athletic fee increase to help with stadium funding.

Comparing Louisiana-lafayette's situation to UT,Cal,Missouri and Tennessee is apples and oranges. Those schools are Flagship schools of larger systems with other schools within their system. Louisiana-Lafayette is a regional school WITHIN a system. A better comparison is UTEP(UT-El Paso); a school within the system. You are recognized athletically as ULL or Louisiana-Lafayette except in Lafayette, Louisiana. The END.
