  1. Not exactly. The WAC wanted UNT instead of Idaho. When UNT said no, the WAC turned to UL-Lafayette, then they also contacted Arkansas State and MTSU looking for ONE SCHOOL to make 9. UNT then floated a WAC east, the WAC presidents said no and voted on Idaho again and Idaho was accepted.
  2. FWIW UNT has moved up to a tie for #50 in the early Scout recruiting rankings. SCOUT.COM http://northtexas.scout.com/a.z?s=353&...=14&yr=2008
  3. Wondering if most of the receivers are incoming freshmen also ?
  4. July 06, 2007 UNT offseason workouts Joe Hubbard checked in with a question today about the North Texas football team's voluntary offseason workouts. In short, he wanted to know if there were any going on. The answer is, yes. UNT's players are actively getting ready for the season. Just today, incoming freshman quarterback Giovanni Vizza was on the practice fields outside the Mean Green Athletic Center throwing passes to a group of five or six receivers. Vizza is one of several incoming freshmen who are already on campus. UNT's coaches are not allowed much in the way of contact with players in terms of offseason workouts, but there is little doubt the players are taking matters into their own hands. On most days when one walks by the athletic department there are players filtering in and out of the weight room and on and off of the practice fields. Several remained in Denton this summer to get ready for their first season playing for Todd Dodge. Posted by Brett Vito at 7:15 PM | Permalink | Comments (0) | TrackBacks (0)
  5. Tech receives $1.1M from WAC July 4, 2007 By Jimmy Watson jimwatson@gannett.com Boise State's trip to a Bowl Championship Series football game, gave Louisiana Tech's athletic budget a big boost. After receiving $667,000 from the WAC in revenue sharing last year, Tech athletic director Jim Oakes was able to deposit a $1,125,799 check recently, due in large part to Boise's win over Oklahoma in January's BCS game. "This is the largest share that we've received since we joined the WAC," Oakes said. "Boise's participation in the BCS game was certainly beneficial for all of the WAC schools." Five elements played into the $1.1 million payout for the Bulldogs, but the largest amount ($559,222) came from the BCS football dividend. The bulk of that money came the Boise-Oklahoma matchup, but Tech would have received some BCS money anyway. FULL ARTICLE http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.d...004/1001/SPORTS
  6. Whoring up ? Check around, you'll find that Mean Green football is still a bargain.
  7. This Tulsa poster gives UNT a thumbs up ! I.T.S. Head Coach Post #3289 Beggs A small group of us went to the UNT game a couple of years back, and we all were impressed with their fans and the game day atmosphere on their campus. Those guys know how to set a tone for game day. And their tailgate definitely exemplifies "Texas Style", LOL. I think they'd make a great addition to anyone's conference, and regardless, I agree that we need to get them back on our schedule. (LEC would have to be taken in restraints, cause they definitely got some beauties. )

  9. With Navy playing at Fouts, might that affect a buyout decision by Air Force ?

  12. Here's another good quote ! "Dodge is going to have even more big names roll in all year. I know a few HS coaches here in D/FW and all the kids are excited about UNT. You should have a pretty good team in a couple of years. What's cool is I think our coach (Dooley) is going to have some nice classes as well. I hope we can start playing each other again in a few years after both of our programs are on our feet again. One player you should watch from last years class is WR Marcus King. He is going to be a stud for UNT. Just wait."
  13. Correct ..... and ..... never thought I'd be saying this, but there are some here who will be caught up in the numbers game.
  14. Not exactly. Example. SMU moved to CUSA and doesn't have baseball.
  15. Excuse me, but you are impling with a statement like this and this thread that you started. TD is the coach and you either do or do not have confidence in his ability to make the decisions that are best for the team. The man didn't get where he is by having "clouded judgement" and remember Riley wasn't the starting QB at SLC until last season. And you can bet that TD knows there are people like you out there raising this question.
  16. Anyone know or heard what's goin' on here ? 1. How many players are on campus & workin' out ? 2. Has anyone spotted Vizza, Meager and our other QB's playin' pitch & catch with receivers ? If so any comments ? 3. Any "player organized" scrimmages/games happening ? 4. Are our incoming freshmen here ? CURIOUS ...........CURIOUS...........CURIOUS...........
  17. Excellent post !
  18. Some people need to step back, chill, take a pill and let the natural order of things play out instead of continually playing the speculation game. Vizza will or will not have success based on his ability to run TDs system.......PERIOD !
  19. Riley is a 5.7 3-star, just .1 from being a 4-Star. We have 2 recruits who are 5.4 2-star, just .1 from being 3-star. So .3 seperates us from a 4 & 2 3's
  20. Deep Green posted an article from Port Arthur. These four sentences tell a huge story ! The addition of Riley means Todd now has nine early verbal commitments for next year, something that is totally unprecedented at North Texas. While it’s nothing for upper level Division 1A schools like Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma to load up on early commitments, it rarely happens for schools at the mid level. Dodge has created quite a buzz in recruiting circles with the pledges he’s received. They are, of course, non-binding, but my guess is he’ll retain most and maybe all of them.
  21. Inbreeding, preping at an exclusive rehab facility and lobotomy experiments have taken a toll making them the Somewhat Mental University
  22. Meager vs Wilson vs Phillips.
  23. Cart before the horse? Chicken or the egg ? Maybe wait until someone at least steps on the field and takes an actual snap of the football ? Yes, this is a way to early poll. Something tells me you are "poll happy"
  24. Why don't we get thru '07 before we let speculation run wild for '08.
