  1. We lost the Ark State game because of Kicking. We lost 26-30 with a missed FG of 37 yards and XP. Add those 4 point and were talking OT, not end of game. Army game was the same. We lost 13-17 with a blocked FG of 33 yards and missed XP. The game was 13-10 when Knott missed an XP. Big difference in 14-10 and 13-10. The field goal would have put us up 17-10 with 5:29 left to play. Instead of up by 7 and kicking off (dont get me started on this), were up 4 and Army taking over from the 20. HUGE MOMENTUM SWING. Your defense plays different when you only have to defend the TD to lose the game, instead a FG would only have tied it. MTSU GAME: Missed XP, Blocked FG (35 yrds), 2 kick off's that were out of bounds. We also passed up on a 45 yard field goal just before half because we knew Knott couldnt get the ball more than 5 feet in the air. We lost by 16, which making the kicks would have been down by 9. MTSU also scored on both drives that started at the 40 when Knott kicked the ball out of bounds. I think most of the "blocked" FG's were because we couldnt clear the line of scrimmage on a kick with a trajectory of 5 feet. I think one actually hit the center in the back!! We could have expected 2 or 3 more wins with a good kicker. IF WE ONLY SIGN 1 RECRUIT THIS OFFSEASON, PLEASE GOD LET IT BE A GOOD KICKER! That will have the biggest effect.
  2. I have a personal vendetta against anyone who misses 7 XP's and 8 FG's. My problem is Knott is the only one who fits this profile. Do you think Dodge could "coach" him to kick better? If it was that easy, he would have. Knott sucked and Dodge made a bad decision every time he let him kick. When he is all you got, you have to go with it for fear of getting hung by failed 4th down conversions because you dont trust your kicker. If we had a 25% sucess rate on 4th down, I would risk it every time instead of trotting Knott out there! I would have squibb kicked every kickoff, then have 8 kicks out of bounds this season. Atterberry is a redshirt freshman, and cant be compared to a senior kicker! Atterburry will get better with expierence, Knott wont. Atterbury may have digressed, but I have high hopes for him in the years to come. MTSU we had a missed XP, missed FG, and 3 kicks out of bounds. Wonder why we lost? Maybe MUTS was better than us, but we came from behind to tie it up and collapsed because of bad kicking. 4 points doesnt make a difference, but when you combine that with a short field for MTSU because of kicking out of bounds. FAU: 2 missed XP's. We were up by 2 with 1:53 left and had to go for a 4th down instead of kicking a FG. Add 2 XP to 40 and you get 42. Then add 3 to it for a FG....that makes 45 points! We lost on a last drive TD by 4. Score should have been 45-44 and force FAU to go for 2 point conversion to just to TIE THE GAME! WE SHOULD HAVE WON THIS GAME!! THIS TEAM SHOULD HAVE BEEN A 5-7 IF WE HAD A DECENT KICKER! OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE! WE HAVE BEEN CLOSE IN ALMOST EVERY GAME THIS SEASON! IN DODGE I TRUST!!!
  3. Do you really think Todd Dodge is the problem? If you fire TD, then Deloach should also go! The defense started strong, and then TANKED. Yes Nwigwe (sp) got hurt and things went down hill from there, but his head should be on the chopping block if TD's is. THE PROBLEM WITH THE MEAN GREEN COMES DOWN TO A SINGLE ASPECT OF OUR TEAM.........JEREMY KNOTT! He was statistically the WORST kicker in FBS football! This is not counting Akron....which is in its 1st year in FBS. We had 8 missed or blocked FG's and 7 missed XP's! That is 31 points! Not including the numerous kickoff's that went out of bounds. I blame this seasons failure on KNOTT! How many times did our game plan change because we couldnt trust the FG kicker. We lost the MUTS game, lost Army game, and a few other ones because of a horrible kicker. Solve that problem and we win 2-3 more games this season.....possibly more than that. How the HE!! do you miss 7 extra points? You cant get much closer than that! Knott cheated this school out of wins, stole a scholarship that he didnt earn (you dont earn it for just showing up), and made me personally vomit in my mouth. I am thankful that Knott is GONE!
  4. WE ARE A YOUNG TEAM!!! We only have 14 Seniors! Our QB is a redshirt Freshman! Our main problems have been youthful mistakes. We are turning over the ball at an alarming rate. The other major thing is we are not finishing drives. We fumble in the redzone, throw pics in the endzone, and cannot kick a FG to save our life! Think of how many points we left on the board against Ohio! THIS WILL COME WITH EXPERIENCE. It is a big jump from HS to FBS College! In HS, many of these players are one of the best players on their team. In College, there are lots of guys better than you! You have to take your lumps and learn from it. Riley will learn to hold on to the ball, not throw picks, penalties will subside, and our team will get better. Go ahead and write off this season. We will be competitive in conference, but we are not going to win the Sunbelt. If you thought we were, PUT THE CRACK PIPE DOWN! In 2-3 years we will be ruling the Sunbelt! Then everyone here can say they were behind this team through thick and thin! Go Green!
  5. The only conference move WE could make is to go DOWN to FCS! It is all linked.... put a great product on the field and WIN, then people will show up. Go to a bowl game and have a great fan showing. New staduim will help the cause, but LSU, OU, UT, Boise, and other have 28,000 people tailgating!! I THINK we could beat FCS Richmond!
  6. The Good: 1. The tailgating parking lot was PACKED!! I hope when they build the new stadium, they take into consideration how important tailgating is to UNT fans. 2. The DEFENSE! It has been a LONG time since I have seen a MEAN GREEN DEFENSE LIKE THIS! Our D-Line is getting a great PUSH and playing BEHIND the line of scrimmage! OUR DEFENSE IS KEEPING US IN THESE GAMES!!! 3. The PUNTER! Atterberry is punting like a MAD MAN! I think he killed it 3 times inside the 10 yard line! Winning the field position battle! 4. CAM MONTGOMERY! The MAN, the BEAST, the LEGEND!! His hard running will lighten the load for the offense. 5. Good student turnout, considering the rain! The Bad: 1. Play calling. Not taking good risks, not sticking with the run game inside the 10 yard line, and lack of EXPLOSION! 2. WR's dropping too many balls! I think we dropped 2 TD's and 3 First Downs. 3. Injury to Riley. I hope it is nothing The Ugly: 1. The crowd shouting profanity!! Classless 2. F_U_M_B_L_E. I hope it was just weather related! 3. The Weather! 12+ hours of soaking rain! 4. Fireworks after a loss like that??? WTF??? This one hurts. I cant even remember the last home win! The crowd was hungry for a win, and primed to rush the field and pull down the goal post!
