I would probably question his work ethic, considering he was a Top 100 player coming out of HS but failed to produce at ASU. I haven't met him or know much about him, but that is normally the issue when players transfers from another school when no coaching change was involved.

I think that our 05 class will be very productive, mainly the freshman. Howerton may (I believe) will be one of the best big men that JJ has ever had. He is still young, and still learning the new style of basketball after coming from a small school. He is not afraid to throw his body around and mix it up inside. He seems to be getting better each game. Harold Stewart was unimpressive tonight, but he has lots of raw talent and can be a very versitile 4 man. Harold Edwards I thought played very well tonight, mostly on the defense end and did a great job sticking with his man. He was gaurding the best player on the court and fought hard considering every play was run to or through his man. Hopefully he will understand that his best chance to play this year is if he can keep up the defensive pressure. I am pretty sure that I heard that he was a center in HS and is being forced to develope on the run. Brown will be what he is suppose to be, a back up point gaurd who can keep his team in the game when he step onto the court. He likely won't start next year with the kid from San Janto that they are bringing in. I can't really get any read on Young since he hasn't really since much action. But I would be far from disapointed in this years class. Give them time, let them grew. Hopefully by the time Williams and Sturns are seniors this freshman class will develope into something special.

It isn't the alum that bother me about showing, it's the poor student turnout. Don't tell me that if you go to the game that you can't go out, because I know that you can. The excuses I hear besides, "I don't like basketball" really get old.
-
Yes, I couldn't understand a single word that came from the student section.

Some of you seem to forget that JJ's team last year played an Elite 8 team in Alabama tough on the road. For the most part JJ's teams have been competitive against the big schools, except for Texas last year.
-
Nothing against UNCW but they play in the Colonial, and A$M plays in the Big 12. UNCW makes the NCAA because they win their conference tourny almost every year. I'm not sure who would win either, but I am excitied about this year.

the progress is being made with this team. if you have watched it over the last few years, his old teams would have quit, but this team kept fighting. the only progress not really being made is that almost NO STUDENTS attend basketball games.

classes have less people in them than the wed before thanksgiving

I was really impressed with Howerton last night. Those first few games he really didn't show much, but I thought that for the short time he was in he really mixed it up and wasn't afraid to throw his body around. I think he still lacks of some the skills to be a dominate big man, but he isn't afraid to use his body and if he works on his game he can be a significant factor next year.

It is true that this team lost out on a big opportunity last night to win a "big" game. But for anyone who was there, and was watched JJ's teams over the last few years, you would notice that these last two games this team has turned a corner. Last year as soon as s$m went up 10, this team would have quit, but not this one. Calvin Watson came up huge in the second half. KD is a special player, i'm not sure why he left arkansas, but i'm glad he is here. Sure a lot of calls went to a$m, but that is how it goes when you are a "nobody" playing at major conference school. I have no real problems with last nights game, if you told me you'd be down 2 with 12 seconds and the ball, i'd take it any day of the week against any big 12 school (except baylor ). All I ask is that people continue to support this team and it will continue to grow right infront of you THIS SEASON. side note: A&M is 22-3 at home under Billy Gillispie Gillispie has in the recent weeks been very hard on the fans for not showing enough support and not enough people attending games.

so if we lost to texas next year because we missed a feild goal as time runs out, you would be pissed and not be happy at all that it was that close of a game?
-
I know of atleast two people going, I am trying to go if I can get off work.

"You'll have gone 17 days without a college football game. You need this. It's a New Orleans Bowl that isn't in New Orleans, and also without North Texas. The Indians provide some new blood and some new excitement to the game. They'll feel disrespected and should play very, very hard. " From NO website

Playing time.

I don't see a team listed there, just $$$ signs

Indeed good luck, I believe he was one of the last players on the field when I left today. He has helped this program grow so much over the last five years. Good luck at the combine1

how'd you like that grennade by ASU?
UNTSportsGuy replied to EagleChick03's topic in Mean Green Football
how many years have we been doing it to everyone else? what goes around comes around... -
Rough loss, but UNC-Will is a very good team, who has already played superior teams this year. It's never good to loss, but when you go back and look at this loss, you will see that UNCW will be a very good team this year.

Doesn't sound very good, sounds like we are being completely dominated.

UNC-Wilmington host UNT in home opener

I feel bad for girls soccer than, because basketball can barely get 1500 people at a game. -
We did beat them last year at home, but we normally are a completely different team on the road. I think that their gaurds are not good enough to gaurd ours, and hopefully Simpson can dominate the post on both ends of the floor. It should be a great game.

I believe we have reached the next level, and have begun to plateau as a program. I feel that if we don't do something (whatever it may be), we will never reach the next level. I don't think the next level is the Top 25, but I feel that the next level is complete domination of the Belt plus the ablity to win in OOC games. I think the new stadium may be the "next" level, but I won't hold my breath to see that complete. Maybe if we coughed up a little more money, we could bring a bigger name coach in who wants the challenge, and opportunity that we could offer. Maybe we need assistant coaches who excell are recruiting (basketball's top 30 class, done mostly by the new assistant coach), I don't know the anwser, but I think RV has come to a cross in the roads, where we can either go up or down, but staying the same will only lead us to going down.

I plan on having a section to myself in the student side next weekend.
-
I think we are on the same side, I get as many friends to come to the games as possible, but they just don't care or think it won't be any fun. I finally got them to go to a basketball game, they had a great time and couldn't wait for the next home game. But it is the attitude of no caring or having "better" things to do that really makes me mad. The fact that most people won't even give it a chance. However, I think a lot of students gave this football team a chance, if they come back next year will be the big question.

Some would say it is better to have low goals no than no goals at all.
