  1. I was startled by a head line in the print edition of the Dallas Morning News this afternoon. On page 6CC, just under the coverage of the NT game the headline read "Dominant Houston remains unbeaten in C-USA play." Now, technically that's true as no CUSA team has beaten them. But within the article, it reads"5-1, 2-0 Conference USA." Let's welcome the Cougars back!
  2. 23 point win against the strongest defense we've faced and likely the strongest in the conference. 6-1 !!!!
  3. According to the Wikipedia on it, they have Middle East/North African rights not including Israel. During the UTEP game, they kept promoing the Turkish Soccer league Süper Lig. I guess I knew there was a Turkish league, but don't imagine there is much demand in North America for it. But if you've got a 24/7 schedule you have to fill it. And I guess being able to picture the Turks they will get some North American coverage is good.
  4. I'll bet some of our fans are so paranoid about losing SL they think OU might hire him as their Defensive Coordinator!
  5. You are correct sir! Incarnate Word has a winning record even after losing to us. If Liberty had beat us, they would have a winning record. If SMU had beat us, they'd be at .500.
  6. A LOT of sympathy! I think it was well deserved. Regents (or whatever they call them!) from Alabama tried to kill the UAB program because they didn't want another FBS program competing with Alabama for resources. Really. Alabama was scared it wouldn't have enough resources! I certainly was sympathetic to what happened to UAB. I want to beat them on the field, not get their program closed down!
  7. Has this guy even been to the Alamodome? I don't think the Alamodome is the worst stadium - ever been to Rust On, how about UAB - but it's not the best.
  8. Here's a link I found to the CUSA tie breaker system. I haven't checked if it is current! http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/c-usa/sports/m-footbl/auto_pdf/tiebraker.pdf I tried to paste but the formatting doesn't work! If there is a three way tie - La Tech and NT win out and UAB only loses to us - then the tie breakers kick in. We'd go down to comparing records against common cross division opponents, then cross division opponents in order of finish, then BCS ranking. I think beating Arkansas will likely help our BCS ranking! Certainly a win over any SEC team counts more than a loss to one. Bottom line, it appears we again can control our own fate by winning out.
  9. I heard an interesting news story about BeIN sports yesterday (10/3). BeIN is currently sueing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia because a pirate TV station on Riyadh is broadcasting content from BeIN without paying any license fees. They did that for the entire World Cup which BeIN had bought the middle east rights to exclusively carry. It seems BeIN is a spin off of Al Jazziera and both are largely owned by the Qatari government. Qatar and Saudi Arabia have an ongoing dispute as Qatar supported many of the Arab Spring revolutionaries while SA was putting them in jail and sometimes beheading. Much of the BeIN programming is extremely popular in SA - soccer, tennis, F1 and motorcycle racing are very big in the middle east. SA seems to want to hurt Qatar by hurting Qatari companies. While SA claims they don't know who operate the pirate TV station, it has a tower and broadcasts from Riyadh. That makes the Kingdom's "we can't find them" rather unbelievable. None of this directly affects BeINs broadcast of US college football currently, but if the company suffers a large enough financial drain it could state to. If you watched the game last week on BeIN, most of the network promos were for the sports most popular in SA that are being pirated. I never thought middle east politics could effect my watching of NT football! Here's a link to a print news story about what's going on. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-10-01/qatar-s-bein-sports-seeks-1-billion-damages-from-saudi-arabia
  10. Before the game, Litrell said we still haven't played our best football. That is still true. Reset, improve and go beat UTEP.
  11. There is no doubt this loss hurt, but we haven't been 4-1 since 1966! That team with Joe Greene lost to Tulsa to go to 4-1. They came back the next week to blow out Southern Illinois 53-6. We played poorly against a very good La Tech team and still were in a position to win late. It hurts, but we aren't a bad team. We can beat any team left on our schedule but play poorly and we can lose to any of them! Reset. Go beat UTEP and then reset again.
  12. No need for a poll. There's more than enough blame to go around. It was a very sloppy performance by Offense, Defense, ST and coaching. The TEAM including the coaches lost this as a group. LA Tech wanted it more and was willing to do what it took to win. We weren't. LA Tech is a good team - you can't laydown on a good team and win.
  13. oh gee And there I was excited for a minute or two.
  14. So it's $5/month to get the ESPN 3 content?
  15. I guess so. Reading their board, they have more than their fair share of delusional fans. One refers to their "football peers" as TCU, SMU and Boise and how disgusted he seemed that people now thought of UNT, UTEP and Rice as their peers. Another claims a "good" coach never has to rebuild and every year the team is better than the year before. I guess no one ever graduates in his mind! Still a slight majority think it's going to be a good, hard fought game.
  16. Herman got the UT job which is still considered one of the top coaching jobs in the country. That's a lot different than getting a call from Texas Tech!
  17. Very sorry for your loss. Glad to see the ticket office is doing much better. The entire athletic department has improved dramatically in the last few years. Mass firings haven't proven necessary with good, effective leadership at the top.
  18. The athletic department is really doing well with promotions this year. Glad to see them doing so much more than in the past.
  19. Tech jumps 29 positions this week? Seriously?
  20. Looks like Mason is steadily slipping. UCF must have some kind of automated voting going on.
  21. Not sure why you say this. First, the same team than manages the Armed Forces Bowl in Ft Worth manages the Servpro. Their business cards used to say Armed Forces bowl on one side and HOD on the other. Secondly, the fact they've got a title sponsor makes them more likely to continue, not less. Title sponsors change every four to five years, see the formerly called Colonial Invitational and multiple bowl games. Third, and most importantly, there is a new management group running Fair Park now that wants to build it up. They are willing to invest more than the City was. They want the bowl game to grow. A match up with Washington State would have a unique line of interest - both teams lost at home to Portland State in 2015.
  22. If that were to happen, we'd be 11-1 and still ousting the CUSA Championship game and still get a bowl bid. At 11-1, it would almost certainly be better than the New Orleans or Frisco bowls. It would be very disappointing but not the end of the world. It is still a LOT better than losing to Portland State.
  23. We cut the cable four years ago. Last time I looked you needed to enter a cable provider to use the ESPN app to get Live video although you could get updates otherwise.
