Yes really! Here in Coppell, folks were complaining about new soccer fields being built without any crown. But that lets the Parks and Rec folks combine four soccer fields into a cricket field. Not sure about Frisco, but Coppell has a very large South Asian population and they love cricket.

Correct, but if the school doesn't sell the tickets, they generally have to buy them or an equivalent. What a lot of bowls now do is require a combination of ticket sales, hotel rooms and other purchases to make up X dollars. Once a school hits the X dollar amount, they are good.

You never drop coverage of a game to go to something else! EVER! You give updates, you might cut in a small box with the other game (but this happens even more rarely as screens fill up with more and more text!) but you never just dump a game on a national feed. Here's why - https://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-heidi-bowl

LinkedIn Post - Asst. Football Coach Position
VideoEagle replied to Hall Eagle 2011's topic in Mean Green Football
I remember various job postings for head coach openings in the past. I remember something about not officially filling positions until they had been posted for a specific minimum amount of time. Perhaps @Brett Vito can write something about this being correct or not! -
To. Me a better question is who is his agent? In today's world, agents and consultants are vital to the process and everyone maintains deniability.

NDSU vs Eastern Washington Championship Game in Frisco
VideoEagle replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
Sagarin himself says his rankings between FCS and FBS are HIGHLY variable as there aren't enough games between the two groups. The other problem is financial support including fan attendance. Last year, the entire FCS playoff system - all 23 games - drew a total of under 200,000 fans. That's an average of less than 9,000 per game for the playoffs! They currently average 18,000 in a 19,000 "seat" stadium. The quotation marks are because the 19K number includes standing room seats. They need to up that to 30K plus increase travel to get to more FBS opponents plus increase donations, etc. It's tough - see what happened to Idaho. Staying where they are, they are a big fish in a small pond. It appears they like that. Here are a few references. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/football/4539693-bison-football-playoff-attendance-drop-disappointing https://www.si.com/college-football/2017/02/16/ap-fbc-fcs-playoff-attendance -
The Frisco Bowl is managed with a smaller crowd in mind. They know they don't have a lot of stadium seats so they work around it. If you notice, they pick teams that aren't likely to bring big crowds. Ohio played a great game!

NDSU vs Eastern Washington Championship Game in Frisco
VideoEagle replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
It's an exponentially higher level of commitment of resources. They are consistently the top of FCS. In the MAC, even if they are the best MAC team, they are not even in the top 1/3 of FBS. -
Rewatched the game yesterday while home with a sick child. I was able to pause and go back and look carefully at a lot details of plays. Articles before the game gave NT a chance of winning only if we managed to get into a high scoring shootout. That was our our chance of winning and that chance was seriously hurt when Rico was confirmed as out. Loosing Fine sealed it - unless something very strange happened we just didn't have the personnel to win. I was especially curious about our situation at center? Did our center suddenly forget how to snap a ball? I could see as clearly as I wanted, but the USU tackles really appear to have intimidated out guy. They were getting past him and he appears to have started to worry about his blocking before before worrying about the snap. A center much get the ball into the QBs hands cleanly before he worrys about the block. If the snap is bad, the block won't matter! Once the USU guys knew they were in his head, they exploited that. When we tried to give more help to our center, that opened other holes in our line. You can see it clearly on several plays. We were simply out manned on the line and no amount of extra prep short would correct that. The first USU TD was blown coverage on exactly the wrong guy. You can blame it on a player or on preparation. I think a combination of both. I don't see how giving our backups a dozen more snaps during garbage time in games over a the entire season was going to make them into "A" level players. You improve during practice, repeating the activities over and over and over. You get timing down by working with the starters a lot. And every snap in practice you give backups is one less you give the actual starter. Practice times are limited and that's why only teams with backups that are already "A" level players do well when the backups come in. Shanbor has had a lot of time to develop into an "A" player and he just didn't. The altitude didn't cost us the game, but it obviously had an effect. Three downs into a series of the USU hurry up and our guys were clearly winded even during the first quarter. You can see them gasping for breath as they line up! That should NOT stop them from playing, but it will cause them the be one step slower and take one second more to recognize a play in progress. That gave a slight edge that compounded as the game went on. Our D is noticeably better at sea level. Watching our run blocking, I'm not sure running more would have helped. The holes were few and far between. We weren't fast enough to get plays to the outside. I'm not sure if it was the altitude or just skill but most likely a combination of both. Overall, the preperation, relative talent levels and altitude all played into this lose. Watching the game, the biggest contributor was the overall talent level differences, but it was more than that. The pre-game analysts were quite correct - we would need a perfect game with us scoring a LOT of points to have a chance at a win. Without out all of our weapons, that couldn't happen.

Final Thought On The New Mexico Bowl
VideoEagle replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes! That is especially true in the winter! -
Ruston is worse.

In three of the four, we looked like we shouldn't have been on the field. We forced Army into overtime in the HOD bowl - pretty much the definition of evenly matched. We clearly need to improve, but we are also complaining about our post-season results when we previously weren't even sniffing at getting to the post season. We have just had the best two seasons on success we've had in the last 40 years. Seth has built NT into a good program, but we aren't great yet. Seth still has a lot of work to do but that doesn't mean he hasn't done more than any coach in 40 years. He's got us about half way to where we need to be.

K State hires NDSU coach to be new HC
VideoEagle replied to GMG_Dallas's topic in Mean Green Football
I've never believed coaching jobs were just about the money. A coach wants to be in a place where he can win on the Big Stage AND make money. Winning leads to the money, not the other way around. After Seth told KSU no, they didn't want their job turning into a Tennessee fiasco so the AD went in a very safe direction. The announced salary falls right in line with the stories about what they offered Seth. I won't have time to keep up with it, but I'll be curious is there turn out to be any "hold overs" from the old KSU coaching staff. -

The National Football Foundation awards dinner will have a LOT of coaches in attendance. It's a big deal with a lot of awards. BTW, our old favorite commissioner Karl Benson is getting an award! https://footballfoundation.org/sports/2018/7/27/nff-annual-awards-dinner.aspx
