  1. Doing things the right way is what I expect from our next coach, no matter who it is. You can call it SL 2.0, but I call it dignity.
  2. Edit - looks like you may have answered some of my questions. I recently made a post questioning what happened after the first 2 years of Fuente's start at VT. I wondered if he had inherited a good team and simply reaped the results once they were seniors and with a good QB. I noted that in his 4th season (8-5) he had wins over 1-11 ODU and 2-10 Rhode Island along with a loss to 5-7 Duke and that was after a 6-7 finish in the previous season. You say he lost his identity after a few years, but it looks like things started going south in year 3. Did this affect his game planning/strategy or recruiting? Also, you say the admin had a lot to do with it. Was the admin support demoralizing or simply not providing the necessary resources? We're VERY familiar with that problem, having lived through it for decades but we've finally gotten support since NS became president in 2014. What's Fuente like as a person? Does he support being "Selfless. Tough. Disciplined"? (sorry, inside joke) Did he have many disciplinary issues with players? Thanks for stopping by. Oh, and regarding history, have a coke and a smile and feel free to browse our site.
  3. Luckily if someone like Deion was hired, I would help offset the new demand for tickets by freeing up my 3 seats.
  4. Every time someone mentions this, I always add that having MT around your program is a good thing simply by having his presence. Despite never actually meeting the guy, he's still easily one of my top 10 NT FB "people" ever.
  5. Our best player on D and on the OL along with both of our good kickers received these CUSA honor and will not be back next year. However, every other player that made the list could be. It's critical that we retain these guys along with adding a few improvements from transfers (QB??). Hopefully these guys look around the locker room and realize what potential is there and stick together.
  6. I always assumed that was the case.
  7. Tony Benford just entered the chat.
  8. On the positive side, that probably means he hasn't pi$$ed any TX HS coaches off.
  9. Yeah, gotta' wonder what Austin Reed would think about us if he saw us hire an impressive coach.
  10. LOL! That's not the thing that I have in common with SL.
  11. Yeah, their Todd Dodge gamble worked while ours failed. Of course, we were partly to blame for his failure.
  12. Yeah, the guy has a gorgeous wife, 2 great kids, good health, a boat-load of money and plenty of free time on his hands. After retiring earlier this year, I have exactly one of those things. I'll trade with him any time he wants. SL is a great guy and I wanted him to be successful, but that picture doesn't give me sadness since he'll have no problem finding some form of employment that continues to pay him plenty well.
  13. Yeah, at that point SL is Wren's hire.
  14. SL needs to start sweet-talking BSU.
  15. "Fuente sat out the 2022 season after he was let go for the sin of going 5-5 at Virginia Tech." After his first 2 seasons of 10-4,9-4 with a bowl win, he went 24-23 in the next 4 along with 3 bowl losses. I don't follow VT close enough to know how many good players he inherited but he did take over a 7-6 Frank Beamer team, so there's a good chance the team had some good players. That 24-23 record is awfully close to that .500 record that has been declared as unacceptable, so I don't think it was the lone 5-5 season that did it. Apparently Fuente is a big name, but I'm not seeing anything overly impressive. In his 4th season (8-5) he had wins over 1-11 ODU and 2-10 Rhode Island along with a loss to 5-7 Duke and that was after a 6-7 finish in the previous season. This looks like a team that was trending downward for most of his tenure. Maybe what he did at Memphis is his better achievement?? I know people are going to say that he was playing in a stronger conference, but I thought that was also supposed to give you access to resources and recruiting to make it easier to win.
  16. Until AA throws another pick 6.
  17. All they had to do was play better and win and they would still have their coach. Simple as that. It was in their control. Apparently he needed 1 more win and THEY didn't do it for him.
  18. If only there was an organization (or Association) in place to regulate this kind of bad behavior of National Collegiate Athletics.
  19. I told JQ not to get in that bobsled without a helmet but I guess he didn't listen. Those crashes can be bad on your melon.
  20. Was going to post the same response but figured I'd reached my limit of smarta$$ remarks for the night.
  21. Couldn't have said it any better than this. Good luck to SL. If we get someone with the same integrity but better at coaching then we'll be headed in the right direction.
  22. Yeah, maybe ask him to work on getting some decent refs for CUSA games.
  23. Well, let 'em hire SL if they think he's so great.
  24. That's nothing. You should see the letter I got from this Nigerian Prince. I'm gonna' be RICH!!!
