  1. I think some may have missed the 867-5309 reference in your figure.
  2. The report recommends obtaining the next Head Coach from the Jr. High ranks. It states that by the time a coach reaches the HS level they are too set in their ways to adapt to the NCAA game.
  3. No, they practiced against HS coaches to prepare for us.
  4. We need a definitive logo. Maybe a block version of UNT or NT or Mean Green. Heck, it could even be an SLC dragon, but it has to be something. It needs to be unique and something we stay with. Think about UT, OU,Tamu, TTech, Neb., Cal, ND, Alabama, Florida, on and on. Every one of you could describe the iconic logo of each and if you saw it, you'd know the school. We need the same thing. We need something that can be put on the 50 yard line of our new field. Anybody notice that we have a huge blank spot out there right now. Talk about (lack of) branding. How come when the camera shows the middle of the field there isn't a huge-a$$ logo out there??!? I do like the lettering in the end zones though. Now that I think about it, Rice has a similar problem. They're currently using the script R, but IIRC they used to have a block R and maybe an owl. They certainly don't have an iconic logo that gives instant recognition.
  5. If that's the case, then it should say MEAN GREEN on the helmets and not North Texas. Consider someone flipping by the game. They see Mean Green on the helmets and say, "Who is that playing?" "Oh, yeah, UNT". That gives you some branding/association. Alternatively, they see North Texas on the helmets and say, "North Texas! Isn't that the 5-100 team with the HS coach?!?" "What are they called? The Greenies? The Eagles? The Green Monsters?" Not much branding of the Mean Green name there.
  6. Nothing says Mean Green more than our "Powder Puff" Green colors. /sarc I prefer a good dark green, but I'm not opposed to a lighter green as long as it is unique, maybe more neon or something. I'd even like to see a periodic "throw-back" uni with the Flying Worm. Now that's unique. Green is literally my favorite color (independent of UNT), but I HATE the SLC shade. I don't like the color and I don't like the similarity to SLC. Even if we were 45-5, the only relation I want to SLC is a pipeline of recruits.
  7. I agree. I think whatever (bad?) logic was used to bring him back this year *could* justify one more based on the the injury situation. The real problem is that he was brought back this year. The point I was trying to make is that we're in this so deep now, that giving it one more year may be worth the gamble (at least until I see real hope of bringing in someone better).
  8. I was against the whole Dodge thing from the start. I thought it was a bad idea, but hoped I would be wrong. I did think he would be good for recruiting, but wasn't sure if he would have the same success in a program that wasn't the top-tier in funding and talent as he experienced at SLC. I was so disgusted that I sent my tickets back 2 yrs ago along with an letter expressing my feelings and that he needed to go. Despite that, I HOPE HE GETS ANOTHER YEAR. I think he needs a chance with the new stadium (for recruiting) and I think the injuries should be considered. However, that all depends on how he manages the team in the face of the adversity. If the team sticks together, then I think that shows that he at least one intangible to offer. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I don't want another 3-4yrs of starting over with a new coach. I'm not as informed as many of you, but I don't see a line of high-quality coaches knocking down the door trying to get the job. Getting a new coach likely means 2-3yrs of adjustments and then what to do if that goes bad. Then we're a revolving door with a great new stadium. I'm gonna' hold my nose for one more year and hope Dodge shows us something next year. However, that is the last one for me.
  9. I sit on the top row of the lower section of "C" and standup and scream, whistle, whatever on EVERY defensive 3rd down, even when it's down on the far end of the field. It's amazing how few of the people in the 20 rows below me are sitting down, barely making any sound. Actually, there's a few women that I see a few rows down that do get up and scream on every key play. They are into it. Anybody else see the same thing in their area? Oh, and don't get me started on our cheer-less leaders. Randomly leading "Go-green, go-white" and "North-Texas" is about the only thing from them. It seems like the student side is somewhat into the game, at least better than when I was sitting over there in the 80s. Back then, the Frats wouldn't show up until after the half and then spent most of the game turned around talking to people behind them. Uggh. Vent complete.
  10. BTW, if it wasn't made clear, there will be a ceremony at each home game to honor a different decade, going back a decade for each game.
  11. I always found it funny that they were called the "Green Brigade" and were usually dressed in all black.
  12. Now if we could just permanently adopt a color that represents MEAN GREEN! I'm so tired of the current trend of light green. It's the green equivalent of Powder Blue which doesn't really scream MEAN GREEN to me. Yes, there was the lime green from the days of the Flying Worm (I'll never forget the McDonalds on I35), but jeez that was the 70s and everything was hideous then. Look at the green in the Eagle logo in at the top of this board. That's a good green. We are not SLC and I don't care if the Dodge family has to buy new green clothes to go to our games.
  13. Or...instead of Young, we bring Leach to Denton. I bet he could get a ton of recruits from here to New Mexico and a bunch of 'em from Western OK too.
  14. I didn't get that either. I'm not completely sure, but I bet Texas has had a stronger schedule and has only lost to the #2 team in the nation and beat OU head-to-head. I had expected the rankings to be similar, but with Tex/OU switched. So, if OU beats TTech, which will be ranked higher. Using the logic of this poll, Tech would still be ahead of OU since OU lost to Tech, but then Texas would be ahead of Tech, since Tech beat Texas?!??! Arrghh, I'm caught in a loop, caught in a loop... gk
  15. Sorry, OGS, I wasn't meaning to direct this at you. I've just always hated the helmet stickers. Maybe the coaches should just flip their collars up. Oh, wait, we already had that discussion! LOL! gk
  16. Just say NO to helmet stickers. Green metallic would be great though. gk
  17. For sure! I took my 5yr old nephew to the game (his first ever). He's scared of loud noises, but by the time this one was over, boomer wasn't even phasing him! gk
  18. "but as he was being tackled, through the ball up for grabs." Maybe he's a product of the UNT journalism department?!? gk
  19. Congrats to Tobe! He deserves the recognition. gk
  20. Wow! What a finish! And we don't have to kick off!!! LOL!!! gk
  21. WTF??? Did anybody else lose their ESPN360 on 3rd down? gk
  22. Doink! Woo-hoo! gk
  23. LOL! I was just about to post a holy crap too, but ya' beat me! gk
  24. "Britton said the crew consists of about 20 members, but he hopes to have about 60 next semester. " Great job! gk
  25. Good point, but I think the code is already known. Using historical data and applying complex decryption algorithm we see the following: RV's code: UTA==>UNT DrB's code: MovinMavs==>MeanGreen We've seen what happens when they're used. Of historical note, there is also the SMU/DeathPenalty code that was used once, but the technology behind this was destroyed in the process and hence it can never be used again. I have several other codes related to other local sports teams that I'm currently not a liberty to disclose at this point, but the location of UTA is a hint. gk
