  1. Just to note...if you are limiting him to one more season, then relying on the better conference attracts better recruits factor indicates that he would have incoming freshmen that start playing immediately next year. Otherwise, CUSA recruiting doesn't factor into the results. So, if he is playing these freshmen, that either says we've got some poor talent (maybe explains 4 win season) or he's a great recruiter that brought in some awesome freshmen.
  2. Man, that Tom Hamilton guy ought to be a happy camper! 33% better than he expected!
  3. Maybe you'd rather trade it in for one of these...

  5. Amen! Our unis don't do anything to leverage/enforce this. I think the helmet color is closer to "powder puff" green than "mean". The green from our unis should scream at you. As much as I prefer the darker, forest green, I'd be open to a neon green if it gave us a good look.
  6. When are conferences gonna' take the number out of their name? This has gotten totally ridiculous. I can't keep up with who or how many teams are in a conference from one year to the next anymore.
  7. I've been thinking this for a long time and it is closely related to the whole personal foul/injury discussions that have been growing. Tackling in the secondary has moved from the traditional "wrap-up" tackling to the "blow-up" model. For passes, this works better to reduce the chance of completion or even cause a turnover. However, when it fails and the receiver maintains possession and isn't knocked down, additional yardage is gained since there is no wrap-up. I'm seeing this more and more and if the rules committees could come up with a better way to enforce this, it'd improve both in a return to fundamental tackling and in limiting of injuries. The trouble is coming up with a good, clear, rule and fighting the trend toward a "nascar" mentality in which fans prefer the "crash". Another factor in the poor tackling is the attempt to try stripping the ball that has grown over the past 20 yrs. Traditional secure tackling is sacrificed due to this. It may not be a bad thing, since it generates more turnovers, but it often results in a player gaining more yards.
  8. For those that know more about our DBs than me... Is it that ours are relatively slow, still learning, or what that causes us to seem to play so far off in coverage? It takes a combination of talent/speed/experience, two of which can be improved over time, but generally speed is either there or not. My concern is that if ours are just too slow, then we've lost a year waiting for their faster replacements. And do we have redshirts that bring a lot of speed?
  9. Did they interview anyone from the Denia 'hood?
  10. I'm just ready to no longer have the following coversations... Me: I'm going to the UNT game on saturday Other: Who are they playing? Me: <insert random directionless school that few people in TX have ever heard of> Other: oh (with puzzled look on face) <and the conversation is immediately over>
  11. Although a broken collar bone may be better in the long run. I figure that's something that, once healed, leaves little lingering affect. Whereas soft-tissue injury could have long term affects.
  12. How 'bout we put this up on the big-board for a few games! I'm not sure, but I think I recall this being one of your kids, right?
  13. Be sure you have the volume turned up for the video. Slo-mo Georgio sounds kinda' like Ron Maestri
  14. Hopefully we'll get things headed in the right direction next year, or it may become Apathy-stadium.
  15. For those that didn't click to the CUSA post, this was posted by Green Menace and made me crack up.
  16. Zac Whitfiled called me at my work number and left a message. Seemed like he was reading it, but this makes sense since he wasn't talking to anybody. This really impressed me. I'm 50/50 for this week's game and this may have pushed me into showing up. Good job RV/Coaches/Teams/Whoever for this effort.
  17. OMG I would LOVE to see that. I started at UNT the year it changed, so never got any "worm" stuff. Other than at McDonalds, I really don't even remember seeing much of it. Anybody from that time remember what it was like? Was there an active "purging" of all of the worm stuff in the stores and an embracing of the new eagle? I don't even know if it occurred to me at the time that there was a change going on.
  18. "The fact UNT is headed to Conference USA was an aspect of the Mean Green’s future he is excited about." ...dividends
  19. I wasn't posting this as a jab at you. I just hadn't seen anybody mention it and your post was a perfect setup. As others posted, it was a good job by the runner to not get rattled.
  20. at the same instant your player is fielding the kickoff
  21. Tied at 27, MUTS gets a 94yd TD to go back ahead with about 6:00 to go.
  22. Agree. Unlike TD, Riley did nothing to set this program back.
  23. Better passes is something DT needs to mast-er
  24. Speed! Speed!! Speed!!! I hope this is an skill that Coach Mac is able to recruit. It is a great asset.
