  1. Yeah, it's my understanding that JimJim doesn't have a handle on all of the blocking assignments. But I said the same thing...how hard can it be to know the blocking if we run the same dang play. His TD in the 3rd qtr was the turning point to the game and may have been a turning point for the rest of the season. Just like in the Troy game, the crowd was just anxious to see something positive (a TD) from the offense. I know a lot of it was due to us wearing ULL down, but it definitely seemed like things changed once we finally got a TD.
  2. We did have a lot of low snaps on the kicks, but the holder did a great job of getting it down each time.
  3. I heard the NCAA is investigating to see if they need to be concerned with the high rate of concussions occurring in the UNT fanbase due to the many episodes of emotional whiplash we've encountered over the years.
  4. I found an older discussed this a bit more. Looks like Dodge invested heavily in JUCOs. What I don't understand is how that impacts the later scholarship numbers. Wouldn't the ones allocated to JUCOs expire and then be ready for Coach Mac by now. Is it that there just weren't enough decent, interested recruits in the past two classes to fill out our backlog? If so, why do we assume there'll be enough this year. In that thread, Harry says, "When Dodge was heading into his 4th year, I pointed out here and in other places that we were really hurting the UNT program, as well as the new coach that took his place and the opening of our new stadium. The reason was, Dodge HAD to win to save his job and he was willing to mortgage the future of the program to do it via juco. Dodge knew that he could not get it done with the players he had and could not get it done in time through high school recruits."
  5. Didn't see this posted yet. C'mon GB, let's see a performance like this!!
  6. I've heard Coach Mac say after several games that the team had a great week of work and that he is happy with the effort. I don't think he's just doing "coach speak" to all of this. I really think he sees a team that is generally made up of less talent than the opponents, but that they are giving it their very best effort in practice and on the field. If this really is true, then it is a good sign that Mac is getting buy-in from the players. Yes, it would be better if they were able to constantly play above their skill level, but that's not likely to happen.
  7. What is our outlook for a punter next year?
  8. I think I'm with Cougar King on this one. Good grief, the current generation of parenting is absolutely pathetic. I would be absolutely mortified to have had a parent post something like this. Luckily it sounds like Nic hasn't been negatively affected by this kind of "helicoptering", since he is such a hard worker (or maybe he's overcompensating for it??), but most of the kids being raised by these parents are gonna' turn out as total wusses. It'll totally be over the next time the Germans bomb Pearl Harbor.
  9. I've noticed that a lot of stations on TuneIn are showing as "restricted by the broadcaster". TheTicket, JackFM, etc. show up this way.
  10. “My height was a big reason I was overlooked,” Y’Barbo said. “A Kansas State coach straight up told me that he loved the way I played and my tenacity but that I’m too short for Kansas State and too short to play in the Big 12.” I posted before that I really noticed him in the highlights of the K-State game and wouldn't be surprised that this motivated him to dial it up another notch for that game.
  11. This is great news if Denton really is getting behind this and not just lip service to the idea. BTW, it looks like the last couple of links are using some sort of outlook/email in the URL and sends us to a login page. Here's the corrected links: http://leadandserve.unt.edu/service/index.html http://meangreenpride.unt.edu/support-denton http://meangreenpride.unt.edu/discounts
  12. This is horrible. Thoughts are with you Sean and families. Puts a 14-7 loss to Troy in a whole new perspective.
  13. I kept wondering the same thing. I'm no expert at recognizing what the defense is doing to force the offense into certain plays, but it seemed like more of the kinds of plays from the KState game could have been called. I wrote before after the TSU game that maybe they were trying to work on DT's long passes and that we'd see benefits from it in the future. Now, I don't think so. It's crazy that he can be accurate on some and then overthrow by a mile. There was a decent wind at the TSU game that could have messed with things, but it wasn't much of a factor this week. I kept waiting for us to dink/dunk and stay ahead of the chains like we did against KState, but it didn't ever happen.
  14. A lot of the TD support came from him having success at the local level. Had he come from the same situation but from a Florida HS or even from a Houston area HS, it would have been less. Lots of local people were familiar with SLC and its success and they were coming out to see the same thing happen at UNT.
  15. Was there a problem with the cannon? IIRC, it didn't go off after some of the quarters. Given the score, they should have had plenty of rounds available.
  16. BTW, 10 thumbs up on the Red parking. I was in Blue last year and the entry via the Red access is tons better (at least coming in from Dallas). Was that road connecting from NT Blvd open last year or is this a new route? My only complaint is that it was unnerving to drive down the split road with all of the pedestrians. Most of the peds were staying on their side of the cones, but there were a few wandering out into the car lanes. They need to do a better job of keeping these separated.
  17. Yeah, this is what I was really meaning. Just like it became custom for ND-Navy, maybe we could get a UNT-<Svcs> setup. Granted we don't have the history of a ND, but it could still be something to try.
  18. It's been said before, but I really wish we could start a tradition of scheduling one of the service schools each year. The Army and Navy games were great and had good attendance. And that Navy game was just CRAZY!!!
