  1. And as the announcers just mentioned, he's the rare exception of playing exactly 4 years as the starter at only one school.
  2. Alternately said: Without the sheer luck of getting Fine, SL NEVER had a quality QB.
  3. You always have to be cautious when looking at a video of only a few selected plays over a couple of seasons against unknown quality teams, but no matter what, he's making some really great throws here. Several nice passes to the sides/corners of the endzone and some accurate long balls.
  4. Wow, this is a LATE game. As I just turned it on, WV scores at the end of 15 play drive to cut it to 35-30 with 12:00 to go. Edit: followed by an immediate response by Henegan with a pass that goes for 90yds, with a shoestring tackle at the 1. Next play, back to 42-30. The WV defense was about like ours on that play.
  5. I remember reading back then on the Internet that the real story was that he heading to Buc-ees but missed the exit and just kept on going.
  6. The "Portal", which was initially setup as a mechanism to address various issues that players supposedly had when performing their ONE transfer isn't the problem. We would NOT have gotten CM in the early years of the portal world either, unless the timing was just right suche that he could transfer here to play for his dad, either in his last year or if he (as he claimed) was burned out on FB, in which case he'd still be here. But like most things, the Portal was simply the camel's first push of his nose under the tent. In 2021, the NCAA dropped the "sit out a year" rule, followed by "unlimited" transfers in 2024. THAT is what allowed CM to come here, use us as a reset mechanism and stat builder and them move on.
  7. I think I heard he didn't really want to be the AD, would rather just be a coach.
  8. But he WAS listed as #2 QB. That may have changed. https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/miami/91073 Definitely thought the other factors might be a factor.
  9. Edit: I guess you meant being able to go to so many schools, but with redshirts (regular and medical), being able to get 5 schools is pretty easy. It's even more simple than that...the NCAA no longer has this limitation. https://www.ncaa.org/news/2024/4/17/media-center-division-i-council-approves-changes-to-transfer-rules.aspx https://blog.sportsrecruits.com/2024/04/30/understanding-the-ncaa-transfer-portal-and-recent-rule-changes/
  10. Good article. I've mentioned this numerous times, but once again, exactly HOW does every player on that team deserve $36k for usage of their Name, Image, or Likeness? Other than his family and a few friends, there's not 5 people that know what the 3rd string left guard looks like or even what his name is and his name certainly isn't being used to garner profits for any other company. I suspect there are no pictures of him available other than various roster images, etc. in which nobody is profiting from. The ONLY place his name or likeness might show up is in NCAA FB video game, but that might has well use "player AA" instead of his name. EA Sports (or whoever) isn't making money due to this guy. This seems like the kind of thing the smaller schools might could start going after. Force the disclosure and accounting for how NIL money is being determined and spent. Again, it's even more preposterous that an NIL value can be determined BEFORE a player has even appeared with the team, i.e. his Name, Image, or Likeness have generated $0 in revenue (with the exception of a few top players that generate marketing buzz).
  11. BTW for those wondering where he was playing early in the clip on the field with the "Cal Vulcans" logo, it's in California, Pennsylvania. 🎶🎶The More you Know.🎶🎶 The California Vulcans are the intercollegiate sports teams and players that represent Pennsylvania Western University California (PennWest California; known before July 2022 as California University of Pennsylvania), located in California, Pennsylvania.
  12. It won't be long before some other industry starts forming FB teams. Kinda' like Sanders did with creating his private school football "schools". Initially, they may have to "disguise" it a little just to get past the NCAA, but the NCAA has so little power, it won't take long before they can even go around that. But imagine having: Amazon School of Business, Google Technology University, University of Washington-Microsoft, or Oregon-Nike University. All of the degrees from these universities would be worthless but nobody would care and they sure could fund some FB teams. They wouldn't even need NIL since all of these "schools(companies)" would get free advertising. There's always talk about putting advertising on jerseys (like soccer) but these usually get shot down, but if the "school" is Nike, or Google, etc., then putting the name on the uniform is valid.
  13. Maybe the only positive out of the TP is that it might result in a few young people getting a bit of education regarding the world. Maybe some will get their eyes opened up as to learn who to trust and not. I'm sure he had tons of friends telling him to "go get the money". These leeches are always around and they only want success for the other so they can get in on some of the goodies as well. The sooner people learn to recognize this, the better. Pro athletes, musicians, etc. are faced with this all of the time.
  14. Since I don't pay any attention to 99% of other college FB schools, could someone expound as to why he's leaving Miami? Did their coach move on? Apparently, he went to Miami after having great success in FCS, only to sit behind Cam Ward for a season as the #2 QB. Now that Ward is gone, why would he transfer to UNT instead staying at Miami? I guess the expected answer is that EM is the "QB whisperer" but it seems like Miami isn't doing too bad at that either and didn't he factor in the level of coaching, etc. when he chose to go to Miami? Why doesn't he think he'll be successful next year on the team that just finished 10-2 in the ACC with the QB putting up over 4100 yds? What's to gain from coming to UNT? It certainly can't be the NIL.
  15. Yeah, I gotta' say, it's going to be tough yelling for a Poffenbarger (unless he turns into a failure, then the possible options are enormous). I think I'll refer to him using Reese.
