Is anyone going to mention masking agents? Or while we're at it are we going to talk about our own athletes? This is a North Texas athletics site after all. Do we dare talk about the elephant in the room? Steroid use among pro and amateur athletes is rampant (Depending on the sport. I don't think golfers or NASCAR drivers would benefit much from steroid use. Then again are those really sports?). I'm not condoning doping, I'm just saying the testing is laughable and if you fail a test, then don't be surprised if we raise a doubtful eyebrow. Ethical question... A number of years ago the US olympic cyling team was busted for doping when in fact there was no doping involved. They trained at a high altitude which made their bodies produce more white blood cells (or something like that). The blood was extracted and during the tournament was i.v.'d back in. (It helped with recovery time or something.) Their body produced it naturally. Michael Jordan had the flu in the finals of an NBA championship. He took in saline fluids through an i.v. A substance that is produced outside the human body. It clearly enhanced his performance. He then had an extraordinary game and is considered a basketball god in part b/c of that performance. Who benefited most from a needle in the arm? Which one had a breach of ethics? The one who injected a substance produced outside of his body which (in part) made him a superstar, or the team who injected a substance back into their bodies unadulterated? GO MEAN GREEN -
floyd doping

MADRID, Spain (AP) -- Floyd Landis said he has naturally high testosterone levels, and will undergo tests to prove he is not guilty of doping at the Tour de France. "We will explain to the world why this is not a doping case but a natural occurrence," Landis said Friday in his first public appearance since a positive doping test cast doubt on one of the most stirring Tour de France comeback wins in history. Landis denied that he cheated in a teleconference Thursday, but said at the time he had no idea what may have caused his positive test for high testosterone following the Tour's 17th stage, where he made his heroic comeback charge last week. On Friday he said that the high testosterone level is the result of his natural physiology. "I would like to make absolutely clear that I am not in any doping process," Landis said. "I ask not to be judged by anyone, much less sentenced by anyone." Landis is still awaiting results from a backup sample which, if negative, will clear him. If ultimately proven guilty, he could be stripped of the Tour title and fired from the team. The Switzerland-based Phonak team will ask that the backup sample be tested in the next few days, manager John Lelangue said Thursday. The team suspended Landis after the International Cycling Union notified it Wednesday that he had an "unusual level of testosterone/epitestosterone" when his test was taken last Thursday, the day he staked his comeback in the Alps. -

LONDON (AP) -- The Phonak cycling team says it has been notified of a positive doping test by Tour de France winner Floyd Landis.

Adrian remains my all time favorite NT player. On and off the field he is something special. Jamario is running a close second. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!

The athletic dept offered live webcasts of all HOME games (for a small fee). It worked great for me. I watched most of the home basketball games that way, too. The radio broadcast is a free service. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!! Welcome to the board.

I'm into work at 3:30 am. I'm usually on and off the board from then until noon. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!

I would take the option of beating the defending national champ. The exposure would be GREAT, it's the last game in our contract so they couldn't dump the remaining games, and it would personally give me greater joy than beating SMU. Realistically, beating SMU is a more logical goal and we need to build that rivalry. We need to build rivalries wherever we can, and the metroplex is the most logical place to start. In Austin I expect to see us play the second string after the first quarter, and not throw the ball, then surprise SMU with an air attack. I've been praying for that sneak air attack for about ... how long has DD been our HC? GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!! I posted tis in the wrong thread, sorry.

Jamario Thomas vs. Patrick Cobbs vs. Erric
EagleD replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
Was Erric the running back in the now infamous "Crime in Austin" game? I loved watching him play. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!! J-Mo has more jukes. Cobbs seems to have the best vision and very good speed, Pegram was just an all around very good RB. Pegram wasn't great, but he was special to watch. I really hoped we had a future Pegram in Roy Bishop. I cheered every time he came in. Sometimes they just don't pan out. -

Thank you. That was easy. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!

He's so out it's not funny, but it's the previous TD that's the hideously bad call. I've watched that video over and over. It's caused me much strife in my life. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!

I need RV's email address. Rather than research it I thought I'd be lazy and see if anyone knew off the top of their head what it is. Any help would be appreciated. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!

Hey man, glad to see you back on the board. Hope the spouse is doing better. We've signed what appears to be a good kicker. The web site is in the midst of evaluating each area of the football team. No logogate lately. The University named a new Pres. and Dickey has been dealing with health problems (gall bladder removed and diagnosed with diabetes). Patrick Cobbs looks like he'll survive through Patriots training camp, but will probably not make the final roster (just too many RB's in the system). That's just off the top of my head. Oh yeah, SMU still sucks. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!

1. Texas (my entire family and my wife graduated from UT and I grew up a Horn's fan). That being said, my loyalty is with my beloved Mean Green. 2. Penn State. It's a Joe Pa thing. He's the greatest college football coach, period! 3. Whoever plays TTech 4. Whoever plays U of Houston 5. Whoever plays SMU. 6. Whoever plays OU.

Well, I don't know anyone who worked for Enron, but a very good friend of mine invested money in the company about two months before the collapse. He doesn't talk about it much.

On day three would you take a spelling class? literally

Where are the Dallas Maverick Faithfull?
EagleD replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm here. But since this is uncharted territory for the Mavs I'm not talking any trash about this series. I've grown accustomed to fouls not being called consistently, but the Stackhouse suspension gets me. It was handled well on the floor and should have been left there. Terry's one game suspension during the Spurs series was appropriate. And he handled like a man. He apologized, served his time and moved on. While in Spain recently, I was sitting in a cafe reading Hemmingway and had a couple of NBA thoughts: Spurs fans (as well as a lot of other NBA fans) claim Mark Cuban complains about officiating too much. Have you ever watched Tim Duncan play? He spends as much time claiming he didn't foul someone as he does missing free throws. and Manu Ginobili will be the new spokesperson for "Medic Alert" bracelets. He's the new "Help, I've fallen and I can't get up" guy. Since he spends so much time flopping on the floor, company officials say it is a perfect fit. GO MEAN GREEN ! GO MAVS! -
So does anyone have word on Cobbs?
-
I'll be in Spain on vacation for about a week keeping an eye out for Mean Green paraphanalia. Last year in Mexico it took less than 2 days for a siting, but I suspect this will be a little more difficult. Adios. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!

I didn't realize Corky was here for 9 years.

Absolutely! If Texas doesn't make that stop on 4th down, USC kills the clock. Momentum had already started swinging, this pushed it further.
