I believe Tech and OU are well respected in this field as well. I lived in tornado alley for about 8 years. I work in tv news and have gone storm chasing a few times. Unfortunately I've never seen a tornado, but I've seen a few wall clouds and funnel clouds. I did get to witness the devastation of the F5 that ripped through OKC in '98. Wow! I literally saw pickup trucks on top of houses, in trees etc. I left OK shortly thereafter and have not been storm chasing since. I'll stay hunkered down in my bathtub surrounded by every pillow in the house, thank you very much.

This is a first. We are complaining about traditions? That NEVER happens! Guys, the traditions, pageantry, spirit yells, etc., are all good. During the 4 year bowl run, more people showed up for games, so more people participated in the events and cheers. It was a lot more exciting than most of us can ever remember. But if we don't win, fewer people come. I know it's true for me. It's hard to drive to Denton just to watch us knowingly get beat, no matter how fun a time it is. B/c ultimatly I'll be sad about losing. Sadly, I too attend fewer games when we are losing. When we start winning again, they'll all come back, only bigger this time (me too. I now have an offspring to convert to the Mean Green). In our new stadium, which I'm still hoping to hear an announcement, we will perfect these traditions. Since RV has been here, we have added traditions, tailgating, the march, etc., They've all been good decisions. (And I'm on record as being anti-torilla flinging. Tortilla eating? yes. Throwing? no). I think having the school/fight songs on the cups is actually a good idea, b/c we need to educate future fans. I personaly don't like the "Fly Like an Eagle" pseudo-fight song. It gets overplayed, imho, but surprisingly enough, people know us by that damn song. Our spirit yells are all fine, we just need a stadium full of people to do them. I've ranted. I feel better. It's no real shock DD couldn't recruit a highly touted QB. His run first, second and third approach hurt him there. What really surprises me is that he was not able to capitalize on recruiting defense based on the success of his 2-3 year run with Booger et al. My first year at NT was '87. I too was nothing but an orangeblood when I came to Denton. It took a year and a robbery in Austin, but my allegiance changed. I still pull for my family's team but there is no doubt where my Mean Green heart is. Since Riley is a Longhorn fan, I hope he witnesses an upset or something glorious in Norman to help seal his fate much like Mine was. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OU!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A city should work to do that. I feel Denton does this downtown in the square, but the Fry Street "renovation" hits close to home. Football fans and college bars go hand in hand. The square is too far to walk from the dorms, and I don't even know if there is public transportation in Denton. The city could/should have invested in the local businesses they had. In my home town of Longview sits my favorite pizza joint in all the world. It's called "Pizza King". I think it was a failed national chain back in the day. but this place stayed open. Cheap, good, pizza, and cold beer. The building was very run down and not in the best neighborhood. But the owner dropped some cash into it, he actually built a new restaraunt next door. When it re-opened, It was still the same great pizza and cheap cold beer, in the same neighborhood, only in a modern building with a retro theme. I can't back it up, but I'd be willing to bet the city of Longview gave the owner a tax break for renovations etc. I'd also be willing to bet the city of Denton gave these investors to Fry street a nice break. If Denton had helped the businesses out and actually repaired some of the infrastructure, and seen the economic benefit to aiding local owners, I think we'd all be a little happier.

C. I think we will score about 30 points a game. I have a lot of confidence in Dodge's ability to teach and run his offense. My concern/questions come from the defensive side of the ball. During DD's 4 bowl run, his defense set up his offense. (Of course his run set up his draw play). What do we know about SLC's defense while Dodge was there? I'm looking for WW to go to the defensive backfield. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!

I read on their web site that the stadium seats 32,000. What do you think the attendance will be and how much of it will be green? I think it will be an even split at 10,000 Mean Green and 10,000 Ponies. But if we upset OU or even play them close, all bets are off. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A winning season with a few OOC wins is preferable. I'd hate to beat OU, then flop. Championships are won with defense. If we get blown out by OU, I'll be dissapointed, but not concerned. Then, if we get blown out by anyone other than Arkansas, I'll be upset. I got a little spoiled 4 or 5 years ago, and I haven't recovered yet. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!
