  1. Q. Why don't men in Oklahoma marry virgins? A. 'Cause if she aint good enough for her daddy or her brothers, she aint good enough for him! GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. "The Bump" was a trendy dance in the '70's. It's also a drug reference. There's "Bumper Pool" which is a kind of billiards. If you are referred to as a "bump on a log" you've been labeled lazy. Blemishes are sometimes called bumps. However, a "bump" in this case is a simple message which means the author of the post just wants to move the thread to the top of the message board. Every time a new post is added to a thread it moves it to the top. If a poster just wants to move the thread back to the top, but doesn't have anything to add, he/she writes "Bump". Either that or the poster in question really likes disco dancing.
  3. Great read. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. Vizza. But I trust Dodge's judgement. He will put the best QB on the field. Meager has looked good with the proper coaching. I'm judging this solely on press and GMG reports. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. In the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter, but come on and vote !!!!!!!!!!!
  6. On the dolphins website there is a poll asking which is the most impressive aspect of the preseason win. One of the choices is Cobb's 4th quarter TD and 2 point conversion. Here's your link. Scroll down a little. It's in the middle of the page. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. The '87 robbery in Austin against Texas. I've been loyal green since. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Judging solely on what's been posted I suspect Meager will start against OU, but Vizza will finish the season as the starter. Just my opinion. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!
  9. Every report I read sounds like Meager is stepping up. It's amazing under decent coaching how his ability is improving. No shot at Dickey intended. Oh wait, direct shot at Dickey intended. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. So what happens to the two players? I assume they signed letters of intent to play for SC. If they can get accepted to another 1A program, will they have to sit out a year? It would seem a shame. Also why didn't these kids know about enrollment until the first day of practice? Shouldn't that have been cleared up this summer? Strange things are afoot at the USC. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OU !!!!!!!!!!!
  11. New Spurrier quote: "Who cares what their GPA and test scores are. They chose the school to play football and not for their academics. I think that college admissions criteria for athletes should change … " Ummm No. They are STUDENT athletes. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OU !!!!!!!!
  12. Yes. Considering we are an institution of higher learning, I'd expect employees of the University to be able to construct a sentence. Especially ones who are responsible for WRITING!!!!!!!!!! My point is that the write up was done quickly and this mistake was overlooked. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Dude, Villareal has tacked on a few lb.'s! Speaking as a person who also has enjoyed the extra cheese on my whopper, it's time to run your ass around the block a few times. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU!!!!!!!!!!
  14. "BOOK ' EM HORNS!!!!!!!!" Can they move their practice facility to Huntsville? GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Which is why the lead sentence, "The North Texas football opened fall practice Monday afternoon in preparation for its season opener against Oklahoma, Sept. 1." is an incomplete sentence. Sigh. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!
  16. Comments I've heard this week: "Texas recruits can't wait to wear orange... fluorescent orange." "If this keeps up we'll be able to listen to Longhorn games on the police scanner." "Book 'em Horns!"
  17. I'm by no means a football scholar, but wouldn't the size of your O-Line depend on the offensive style of play? If you are a run oriented team (Dickey), then you'd want big linemen to make a push and create a gap for the RB to run through. Controlling the clock gives the O-Line more time to recover between plays. Pass oriented teams (Dodge) look to control the line and create a pocket. This requires more finesse and technique. Also, Dodge will require his team to be set as soon as the ball is whistled ready for play. They may take a lot more time to actually snap the ball, but he wants to keep the defense guessing and limit the time the opponent has to call a play. This requires your O-Line (usually the largest men on the team) to be in good condition. Jimmy Johnson's Cowboy teams had the best of both worlds. Big men with skill and endurance. His teams were also quite balanced b/w run/pass. Just my 2 cents. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Do not taunt "Happy Fun Ball"!
  19. The lack of class that is OU. In '87 we were 1AA. OU was riding the corruption bus that was the Barry Switzer era, the OU STUDENT newspaper ran an article bashing NT/Denton before that years opening kickoff with us. If a bunch of yahoo's want to go on line and write a load of garbage, I'm OK with that. But when journalists (even student journalists) print items like, "The only good thing about Denton is it's the perfect beer stop before you get to Dallas", it truly shows the ignorance that is the University of Oklahoma. OU SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! BEAT THE HELL OUT OF OU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. Kindle arrested for DWI By Suzanne Halliburton | Saturday, July 28, 2007, 09:53 PM Updated: Texas sophomore linebacker Sergio Kindle was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday. He was released from Travis County Jail Saturday afternoon. Kindle, the Longhorns top recruit in 2006, is expected to challenge for a starting job at strongside linebacker when preseason camp begins, Aug. 6. Texas coach Mack Brown was out of town Saturday and notified about Kindle’s arrest. Kindle has not been suspended. In a statement issued by the sports information department, Brown said: “We’re aware of Sergio’s situation and are disappointed anytime one of our players is accused of wrongdoing. We take a strong stance against drinking and driving and will thoroughly investigate this situation. “Following the completion of the legal process, we will do what’s best for the university, Sergio and the team. One thing we have really prided ourselves on in our program is our family atmosphere, and this will be handled within our family.” Kindle played in 11 of 13 games last fall. He missed the opening two games because of a sprained ankle. Counting special teams, Kindle made 21 tackles, including three behind the line of scrimmage. He’s the second Longhorn in as many months to be charged with a DWI. Defensive end Henry Melton was arrested in Austin in June 1.
  21. Some Monty Python to ease the pain. King of Swamp Castle: Please! This is supposed to be a happy occasion. Let's not bicker and argue over who killed who. and, When I first came here, this was all swamp. Everyone said I was daft to build a castle on a swamp, but I built in all the same, just to show them. It sank into the swamp. So I built a second one. That sank into the swamp. So I built a third. That burned down, fell over, then sank into the swamp. But the fourth one stayed up. And that's what you're going to get, Lad, the strongest castle in all of England. I get the feeling RV is the King of Swamp Castle right now. Fouts being swamp castle, DD as Herbert, and Helwig as Lancelot. We are all the slaughtered victims trying to figure out what went wrong. King of Swamp Castle is my favorite Python character. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!! "We live in a bloody swamp."
  22. I'm surprised no one has mentioned how TD as a fundraiser should help out. Part of being a coach at the D1 level is fundraising. DD raised some money, thanks to Matress Mac, but I think Dodge has the potential to generate a lot more medium sized donors. Shortly after RV was hired he said he'd rather have 1,000 donors of $100, rather than 1 donor of $100,000. I think Dodge, moreso than Dickey, has the potential to generate that kind of interest. I really get the feeling TD knows how important it is to generate money for the athletic dept. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. These are the first pics I've seen since the demolition. Today, I am sad. Many, many memories have gone with those walls. If you don't like the plans for Fry street, don't go there anymore. I won't. If you don't mind, or in fact like the plans, then you should frequent their business. No amount of complaining will bring the "Tomato" back now. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
