What birthday? I assume Navy is not bringing a band. That is a shame. I'm a former band geek. My high school band marched "military style." Other than A&M's band, you don't get to see that much. Once you've seen A&M's band perform once, you need not see it again. It's been the same routine since I can remember. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is not football related but... Monday night at the Bob Bullock history museum in Austin, Dr. Bataille gave a State of the University speech to a crowd of about 150 NT alums and supporters. It was a very good speech and I was impressed by the turnout. I really can't recap the speech, perhaps Austin Talon or some other poster in attendance can. By coincidence, or not, just next to the podium encased in glass was a leather bound copy of "Lonesome Dove" by NT alum Larry McMurtry. Nice touch. To keep this somewhat on topic, she mentioned that we have a new football coach and we were "rebuilding". She then said what a great man Coach Dodge is and what an asset he is to the University. Privately, when I asked about a new stadium, she said it's coming. We just have to find more money. Judging by her speech I have to say the state of our University is strong and getting even stronger. I was sad to see Dr. Pohl leave, but Dr. Bataille seems to have picked up right where he left off. On a personal note, this was the first night my wife and I had alone since our daughter was born 5 months ago. I wouldn't have it any other way. We did call home about 5 times. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, but I can't catch it on the sports channels either. If the outcome is predetermined, it's not a sport, it's entertainment. I don't see it on ESPN or FOXSW. If it's on a network, it's not presented by the sports department of that network. I'm not saying the guys aren't athletes. Many of them are. But professional wrestling is NOT a sport. Bill Mercer taught me that. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!

Personaly I think it sucks this year. In years past it was average. No graphics such as a score bug or down and distance, but you got to see the game. I got good picture when using my cable modem, but dsl has been less than watchable. it was more like a slide show. This year the actual product has been horrible. REALLY REALLY bad. You get the jumbotron feed. It appears to be a 3 camera shoot with cameras that aren't in time so every camera cut has a big shift. You see all the cheer cards (e.g. 'MAKE SOME NOISE') when what you want as a viewer is game action, even if that action is the team coming to the line of scrimmage. I don't see this game as an option on the premium site. I'm assuming it's b/c the game has an actual tv crew and there are restrictions about live streaming during a broadcast game. It may be available to view once the game is over. Then again, maybe I just overlooked it. Sorry about the rant. It just disappoints me. I do this thing for a living. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed. I do this kind of thing for a living and I was VERY disapointed in the production value. Cameras not timed, Cam operators not able to follow action, no radio feed etc. I almost asked for my money back. As a matter of fact, I turned it off and just listened to the free radio feed. George does a much better job of painting a visual picture than the crew did with cameras. This is the jumbotron feed. It's a straight feed. In other words you get all the promotional graphics, cheer cards etc. What it should be is a "clean feed". In other words when a cheer card is on the jumbotron, a camera shot will be fed out to the net. Of course if the cameras aren't timed properly, you can't key the graphic making it impossible to have a clean feed. I'm trying this one more time. If it's not better, I'm cancelling my subscription. Last year this product was much better and very nice during home basketball games. Something happened this year. Very dissapointed. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I disagree with Vivo. My wife got sick after eating there and drinks are WAY too expensive. If you are going to shell out big money for Mexican food then the conversation begins and ends with "Fonda San Miguel". Here's your link. It's very good, but have your wallet open. I have a favorite hole in the wall Mexican joint called "El Caribe". It's on N. Lamar just south of 2222 (Koenig). It is the absolute best bang for the buck. Maria's Taco Express is good as is El Sol y la Luna. There's a lot of good BBQ. Once again if you want to shell out some bucks and don't mind a drive, then "The Salt Lick" is the place for you. Bring your own adult beverage. Stubbs, Iron Works, and The County Line are also good. Local fare: You know there are SO MANY resaurants in Austin it's hard to pick one, but "Censored" is right about Magnolia Cafe, also Kerby Lane is good. Have fun in our fare city. If you are going out drinking, The Warehouse dictrict is a little more chicish than 6th street. That's why I didn't go there too much, but the Gingerman is a cool bar. Also Fedo's (sp) Irish Pub is nice. Say hello to all the frat brothers there.

Quite the contrary. He tried to win with the existing team. That didn't work out and now he has his young players ready, healthy, and eager to prove themselves. I think it's a good strategy. Going into the season I think Todge had a plan all along. I really believe he looked at the first 4 games and thought these would be learning games for everyone involved. He also had freshmen he wanted to develop and did not want injured or their confidence destroyed. So he sandbagged Vizza, and some other defensive starters. He took his lumps and now that we're in conference play, we can make a run. I'm not saying we're a shoe in for the conference, but now he's got the players he wants starting and healthy. Obviously, I'm not a golfer. If you want to swim in some cold water, Barton Springs is pretty nice. It's still warm enough during the day to go swimming. There are any number of great restaurants to chose from: "Maria's Taco Express", "El Sol y la Luna", "Hyde Park Bar and Grill", there are also more expensive restaurants. Those were just a few off the top of my head.

I hope everyone who's going has a GREAT time! I have to travel past the staium on my way to OKC for a freakin' WEDDING!!!! I'm tempted to have "car trouble" about 1 pm. I don't suppose "The Word" or "KNTU" reaches that far north, huh? I've picked up 100.7 in central Louisiana before. but I digress... GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
