I am in the midst of reading Mercer's book, "Play by Play". I am curious how many people on this forum have either read the book or took his 'Broadcasting Sports' class.

From the official UT web site "The north end renovation, which is the largest part of the $176 million stadium project, is scheduled for completion in August 2008. The two-year project will result in 47 suites, 2,000 club seats, 2,000 additional chair-back seats in the lower deck, and the ability to accommodate 10,000 more fans in regular seating. With this exciting stadium renovation, the new capacity will reach 96,000. Additional amenities will include new restrooms and concession areas, an academic center for student-athletes, a year-round food court operation and a veterans' memorial plaza." But, never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

The $178 million price tag is the cost of the complete renovation of DKR, not just the endzone.

RTVF grad here. I use my degree every day. I wish I had studied film more but I focused on tv/radio (and drinking). After visiting a few schools in Texas, I chose UNT b/c I thought I'd get more hands on experience. I was right. I know many grads from UT who know theory out the wazoo, but have very little practical experience. My 2 cents.

Well, bummer. Awasome is my favorite defensive player ever. I'm not passing judgement b/c I know mistakes can be made. Mistakes by him and mistakes by cops. A good buddy got stopped, sent to jail under suspicion of DWI, and later had the charge dropped. There are a lot of details I'm leaving out, but he was innocent. Mistakes happen. I also know people who've caused wrecks b/c of drinking and driving, and never got charged. Again, mistakes happen. I'll wait until this makes it's way through the justice system before I give a wag of my finger, but things don't look good right now. Pain meds could have played a factor. Damn!

We broke their 13 game win streak. 3rd longest in the nation. GREAT WIN GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!

When is signing day?

Listening to Craig Way on the radio today (1300 the Zone, Austin, TX) he interviewed John Jenkins, head coach of "Team Texas". It's one of the teams in a new football league. I don't know much about it. I think it may be some kind of developmental league. I'm pretty sure he said Don McGee was going to play for them. I was only half way paying attention, but my ears perked up when I heard, "Don McGee from North Texas". I found nothing on their official web site but I'm sure my ears did not decieve me. Then again the voices in my head told me...oops wrong board. GO DON !!!!!!!!! GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!

Dude, You are one of my favorite members of this board. I know that when you post something it's going to be informative and noteworthy. Your insight to basketball, particularly high school recruits, is unmatched on this board. If you have been slammed by people on this board, do what I do and just don't respond to those people any more. There are clearly one or two people here I can't play nice with, so I don't respond to them. My life is much less stressful since I took this approach. I too hope this is just temporary. Suppose the Giants win the Super Bowl. Would Adrian Awasome get a ring even though he's on IR? I have no preferrence on the 4 teams left, but if AA has a chance at a ring, I'd pull for the Giants. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!

I was able to listen to a large chunk of it. Bill is on Craig's show from time to time. They talked about "The Ice Bowl" b/c Bill was the voice of the Cowboys then. Good stuff. No NT referrences that I heard. I got his book for Christmas. I need to finish a couple of other books before I get to it. I also received "The Story of North Texas", and " Down the Corridor of years". Good coffey table books. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!

Legendary voice of the Mean Green, Bill Mercer, is slated to be on the radio (1300 "The Zone") with Craig Way, current voice of the Texas Longhorns. Craig is a NT alum and calls Mercer his mentor. I'd provide a link, but every time I try to listen on-line I hear Mearl Haggard. He should be on sometime after 3pm on Friday. I hope to hear him, but I have errands to run. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!
