  1. Congrats. My only daughter just had her first birthday. It's been a whirlwind of a year. You are in for a real treat.
  2. George Carlin died of heart failuire. I saw him in Vegas just LAST WEEKEND. I think I was his target audience. This is very sad news to me.
  3. Even the old FISA law said you could obtain a warrant after the fact if time was an issue. And to that end I believe only two requests have ever been denied by FISA courts. If it's not two, it's a very small number. I'm just a little cautious of big brother watching me, no matter who it is.
  4. I was VERY close to moving to Boca a few years back. Beautiful city. Bonnaroo huh? Was the Kanye West outrage as bad as I've heard?
  5. I'm not a huge fan of that design, but for $4.00, I'd wear it! GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!
  6. Cheney got 5 deferments out of Vietneam. Many of Bush's military records have mysteriously disappeared. Rumsfeld is widely held responsible for the lack of planning (or ignoring planning) for post invasion Iraq... I can go on and on and on and on... Oh hell, If you aren't completely appalled by this administration, there is no sense in going on. Your head is buried too far in the sand. I'd rather support the party of hope and inspiration (Dem's) rather than the party of hate and fear (Repub's). Quite honestly I hate the fact that we have a two party system. But given those options, the choice is easy.
  7. What hate-filled party do you subscribe to?
  8. Ahh selective cutting and pasting of messages. Did you read the entire quoted material or just the part you can misrepresent? They buy their energy from renewable sources. Can I say it louder? THEY BUY THEIR ENERGY FROM RENEWABLE SOURCES!!!! Go ahead and bury your head in the sand. Sling mud whenever possible. And by all means keep voting for neocons, b/c they've certainly not run this country into the ditch, right?
  9. As always look for the WHOLE truth. Tennesseean.com Rick, I know you jump at the chance to slam anyone who's not just to the right of Hermann Goering, but would it hurt you check a fact or two? Or does the truth scare you?
  10. Routine maintenance and the ears are not a problem. Out dachshund's breath on the other hand...
  11. OK But if you try to take my basset hound... he'll drool on you
  12. i hated that damn thing !!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Great. A U of Texas assessment thread. Mack is a great recruiter, and decent game time coach. His OC, Greg Davis blows. I don't understand mack's loyalty to him. In the championship game, Vince bailed them out to be sure, but the defense came up HUGE when they had to. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!
  14. It's a slow time of year and I thought I'd take a moment to ask a simple question. Does our dilapidated football stadium keep people from attending games? Let me first say that the atmosphere around games the last 10 years has improved exponentially. That alone has pushed attendance up. But when our team is not winning (the main reason for poor attendance anywhere) how much does it hurt attendance that Fouts sucks? Personally, I have to say it made me think twice before traveling to Denton. I made one game last year and that was at SMU. It's a three hour drive for me, and I have new obligations that make it much more difficult to find time to travel. But if I knew I was going to a new state of the art stadium with a roaring crowd, I'd make that trek a little more. Call it a sense of pride. I'm embarrassed by our current stadium, and I hate seeing our team lose. Change one of those factors (preferrably both) and I suspect we will have crowds never before seen in Denton. Just my two cents. Yours? GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Word for word. I learned how to cut and paste in kindergarten too.
  16. Did he e-mail you back? B/c he responded to my e-mail and tap danced around the mistake by saying Sumlin was the first black head coach HIRED by a 1-A school. But that's not what he printed. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. Have you been paying attention to the Rangers lately? They are playing some good ball. I know. I know. About the time I start to believe in them, they'll falter, but enjoy it while you can. They've won 6 series in a row. The AL West is not good, but Texas is about 4 games out of 1st. Sorry for the thread derailment. Back to...what was it again? All SBC schools need to fully participate in all sports? GO MEAN GREEN BASEBALL!!!!!
  18. What a GREAT article! Living in Austin, I now want to move back to Denton to enjoy the music scene I enjoyed so much as a student. Stupid adulthood and responsibility making me stay here and provide for my family! Anyone remember "Ten Hands", or "Billy Goat"? About this time of year the "Fry Street Fair" should be rocking Denton. But alas it has gone by the wayside. The article referenced something called "North by 35". I've never heard of it. Is anyone familiar with this festival? GMG!!!!!!!!!
  19. From: FOX SPORTS PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - With two runners on base and a strike against her, Sara Tucholsky of Western Oregon University uncorked her best swing and did something she had never done, in high school or college. Her first home run cleared the center-field fence. But it appeared to be the shortest of dreams come true when she missed first base, started back to tag it and collapsed with a knee injury. She crawled back to first but could do no more. The first-base coach said she would be called out if her teammates tried to help her. Or, the umpire said, a pinch runner could be called in, and the homer would count as a single. Then, members of the Central Washington University softball team stunned spectators by carrying Tucholsky around the bases Saturday so the three-run homer would count - an act that contributed to their own elimination from the playoffs. Central Washington first baseman Mallory Holtman, the career home run leader in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, asked the umpire if she and her teammates could help Tucholsky. The umpire said there was no rule against it. So Holtman and shortstop Liz Wallace put their arms under Tucholsky's legs, and she put her arms over their shoulders. The three headed around the base paths, stopping to let Tucholsky touch each base with her good leg. "The only thing I remember is that Mallory asked me which leg was the one that hurt," Tucholsky said. "I told her it was my right leg and she said, 'OK, we're going to drop you down gently and you need to touch it with your left leg,' and I said 'OK, thank you very much."' "She said, 'You deserve it, you hit it over the fence,' and we all kind of just laughed." "We started laughing when we touched second base," Holtman said. "I said, 'I wonder what this must look like to other people."' "We didn't know that she was a senior or that this was her first home run," Wallace said Wednesday. "That makes the story more touching than it was. We just wanted to help her." Holtman said she and Wallace weren't thinking about the playoff spot, and didn't consider the gesture something others wouldn't do. As for Tucholsky, the 5-foot-2 right fielder was focused on her pain. "I really didn't say too much. I was trying to breathe," she told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Wednesday. "I didn't realize what was going on until I had time to sit down and let the pain relax a little bit," she said. "Then I realized the extent of what I actually did." "I hope I would do the same for her in the same situation," Tucholsky added. As the trio reached home plate, Tucholsky said, the entire Western Oregon team was in tears. Central Washington coach Gary Frederick, a 14-year coaching veteran, called the act of sportsmanship "unbelievable." For Western Oregon coach Pam Knox, the gesture resolved the dilemma Tucholsky's injury presented. "She was going to kill me if we sub and take (the home run) away. But at the same time I was concerned for her. I didn't know what to do," Knox said. Tucholsky's injury is a possible torn ligament that will sideline her for the rest of the season, and she plans to graduate in the spring with a degree in business. Her home run sent Western Oregon to a 4-2 victory, ending Central Washington's chances of winning the conference and advancing to the playoffs. "In the end, it is not about winning and losing so much," Holtman said. "It was about this girl. She hit it over the fence and was in pain, and she deserved a home run."
  20. If the question is, "Who will be better?" I say the O-Line. If the question is, "Who will be most improved?", hands down, the D-Line. GMG
  21. I haven't posted in what seems like an eternity. Just lurking here, TY, and a couple of other blogs. I came across the MeanGreen Blog for the DRC and Vito says: "The wireless network at Fouts Field is up and running...". Wow. We need full investigation of this! Did they actually get some kind of modern technology over to that archaic structure? Might someone with a laptop, a web cam and a basic knowledge of TV framing be able to send video back in real time? Should I actually resubscribe to the premium feed in the hopes I could see some of my beloved Mean Green football, or is this all a horrible hoax? I already have unrealistic hopes of a good defense this year, don't dash them by luring me in with promises of ACTUALLY SEEING THEM ON MY COMPUTER! GO MEAN GREEN !
  22. I canceled my premium subscription yesterday. I enjoy giving money to my university, but if I'm going to pay for a product, I'd like to receive the services of that product! GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!
  23. Bill is a great person to learn from. He has a tremendous resume' and has taught a great number of current broadcasters. Personally, I could never succeed at it. Good luck. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!
  24. Play by Play by Bill Mercer. I got the book for Christmas and am just now reading it. The end of chapter 1 is a real eye opener for me. His class was one of the most memorable classes I ever had (and toughest). I took both semesters (football and basketball).
