  1. Whatever dude. I tried an olive branch.
  2. You just love me for my doggy style.
  3. I don't know why I thought of this but: Yesterday I passed a random old man in the hallway of the building we park in. He said to me with a Texas twang, "That Obama's going downhill fast. What do you think of that?" Of all the one liners, sarcastic remarks, or actual dialogue I could have used to engage him, I just shrugged my shoulders and walked away. I'm going to try real hard to take that approach here, but in my heart I know it's only going to last a few days. Out of curiosity I wonder how many threads get started by right wing attacks vs left wing attacks.
  4. And that's the reasoned argument I'm looking for. I'm OK with this logic. And you did it w/o saying he cries into his hankie (or Mr. Hankie the Christmas pooh), or calling him pampered or otherwise dogging what seems to be a stand up man who is down on himself. Some people just like to kick a man when he's down. For all the Naysers, let's make a deal. If the Titans win a playoff game and Vince has QB'd the team most of the way, will you at least give him a little bit of love. No cockstroking, just a "Good game. He's gotten better" is all I'm looking for. In return if the Titans don't make the playoffs and Vince is at the helm most of the way, I'll say he is overrated and overpaid. Cool? If they make it to the playoffs and lose in the first round again then IT'S ON BABY!!!!!!!!! Let the mud fly! (just kidding) Again, it's not the criticism of his on the field play, it's the bashing of him as a person that gets to me. He really seems like a class act. Hey I could be wrong. I was a big believer in Cedric Bensen. Look how that worked out for me.
  5. My TV station just did a story on Mason GreenStar. This stuff is pretty damn cool. I don't know how practical it is for a stadium, but for home building it seems awesome. Very energy efficient. It's also bullet proof, so I expect them to try and get a military contract. When I heard that I asked if I could invest, and the answer was, "Sure. We need a minimum of 200 grand." My response, "Hey get back to me when you are a publicly traded company." "I'm just gonna go find a cash machine" - The Dude
  6. Once again, I'm not trying to use Drew as shock value, I just find a similarity in his COLLEGE numbers compared to Vince's. I wonder if you get whiplash changing directions from defending Drew to bashing Vince using the same argument for both. I don't have a problem with valid criticism of Vince's on field productivity (or lack thereof), I just think you are overlooking VY's intangibles, plus you have yet to address his rushing stats. Let's just look at that shall we? If I read this correctly he averages over 5 yards every time he takes off on a run. Hell, if I'm the OC for Tennessee I'd create a scheme to take advantage of this, much like UT did. Again, It's no surprise you started this thread, as you have an unnatural obsession with dogging him every chance you get. Did you read the CNN article. He sounded quite up front about his problems dealing with booing. He could have given the standard "Bull Durham" answers, but he's a quality human being and you have to take cheap shots at him whenever the opportunity arises. He has lackluster passing stats. We get it. He also brings with him the ability to run like the wind and unify a team. He makes up for his lack of passing with other abilities. But no matter what I say, you'll never give him any credit. He was rookie of the year, but that does not impress you. He was a QB who took his team to the playoffs, but that doesn't matter, huh? He damn near single handedly drove his team down the field at the end of a game to win a collegiate national championship, but that's small potatoes, I guess. No, his overprotective mom worries about his well being and calls his coach and you can't wait to jump all over him and attack him. It's petty and you know it.
  7. You can't have it both ways either, Emmit. You dog Young for the same thing you praise Smith for. Double Standard. By my calculations VY does put his team in a position to win as much as Drew did. The Titans made it to the playoffs much the same way Drew won a bowl game for us. VY was voted ROOKIE OF THE FREAKIN' YEAR!!!!!!! You keep referencing his passing stats, but he also has the weapon of running with the ball, which he does quite nicely, and is yet another way he puts his team in a position to win. You have made my point sir. He puts his team in a position to win, and they do. So again, if your definition of a QB leader is based solely on passing stats, then you must be on record as saying Drew Smith was not a leader. Nobody's going to argue that, but if you ask his teammates I bet they'd say he was a leader of that team. Thanks again for proving my point. I like the way you dog someone in emotional distress, though. That must come in real handy in your profession. What is it you do again? oh yeah, protect and serve.
  8. The mention of Drew was not meant for shock value. I truly believe he was the leader of that team and I miss him dearly. The parallels between Drew and Vince are similar, though. They both had great defenses and both had mediocre passing stats. I used his stats only to prove Emmit's theory false. You can be a leader and still have sub-par stats. You can also have incredible stats and be a detriment to your team ala Terrell Owens. Nice critique of VY's on-field performance. I can't argue. Is he really the most inaccurate passer in the NFL? I'm not doubting you, I'm just too lazy to look up the stats myself. I just think Vince is a winner and he will turn it around. No real comment on Q-Cat here. I just hope he straightens out his life.
  9. By your definition Andrew Smith was not a leader for us. Here are his stats: Nice innuendo about Texas paying their players. Can you back that up with some proof? And Vince got criticized plenty at Texas before he helped win it all. But coaches and players all agree that when the pressure was getting to them, he kept them all loose and allowed the team and coaches to stay focused. That is a leader in my book. I make no bones about it. I like Vince Young. I've met him and I think he's a wonderful guy, and terrific athlete. If the past is any indication, he'll silence his critics.
  10. First, VY is not whining to the media. He's not talking to the media. His mother is concerned about her sons well being and is perhaps being overprotective. If any spokesperson in this story deserves to be criticized, it's his agent, who is playing everything off like it's no big deal and Vince was watching football with friends and eating chicken wings. Agents are lying scumbags. Second, we don't know that his NFL career is over. Didn't he lead his team to the playoffs last year? Per Wikipedia: QB Vince Young entered this game as the youngest quarterback to ever start a playoff game in franchise history (24 years and 233 days). Plain and simple Vince is having a hard time coping with the pressures of being a pro QB and receiving criticism he doesn't normally get. At least he's not out being a thug like so many other athletes when they can't handle the pressure ala Pac Man Jones, or self medicating ala Ricky Williams. His reaction seems quite genuine to me and you seem quite callous for dogging him. You can criticize his style of play, and that seems valid, but when you dog the man for just being down on himself, it sounds like you want to see a train wreck. I don't care how much you disapprove of his football skills, VY has been nothing but a class act on and off the field.
  11. My apologies for saying Vick is your favorite QB. That was over the line. To the best of my recollection you've never said that. I seem to remember you constantly praising Vick (pre-scandal) and constantly hammering Young. I remember a particular post you had about the first time VY tries to run a DB will cold cock him out of the game, and that he couldn't hold a candle to Vick. If I can research the threads I'll provide a link later. But I definitely remember posts of that nature. Once again it's no surprise this thread was started by you. You just admitted you think VY's a sham. Any chance you get to slam him, you will. Am I wrong? It's not a personal attack, it's an observation you just confirmed.
  12. How have Roy Williams or Simms fallen apart under the spotlight? Simms gave his body, literally gave part of his body (gallbladder) for football. Before he did that he lead the Bucs to the playoffs. Roy Williams and a host of other Texas Longhorns, 22 at last count, are doing quite well in the NFL. It's fair to criticize Ricky Williams (who seems to have turned things around) or Cedrick Bensen (who has just made some poor choices) but the vast majority of Longhorns in the NFL behave and play quite well. 2 other points of note. 1. It's no surprise this thread was started by Emmitt who has an unnatural hatred for VY. I'm sorry your favorite QB is imprisoned for making animals tear each other from limb to limb. VY might be psychologically fragile, but at least he's not a felon. BTW, VY has made good on his promise to come back to school and try to get his degree. 2. Mack Brown does have his players talk to the media. I don't remember the name of the player who recently got busted for DWI, but Mack made him take his lumps in front of the media. Remember Ramonce Taylor? Mack could have coddled him like many coaches would have done with a premiere talent, but instead he was booted off the team. I'm not trying to be a Mack Brown apologist, and there are valid criticisms of him, (I have quite a few) but these aren't them.
  13. The last blog says they haven't decided. I suspect with the hurricane traveling further and further south that the game will go on as scheduled at Tiger stadium. GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. link anyone want to chat during the coaches show?
  15. I know Aggies kiss when they score a touchdown, but I like UTEP's version better: GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!
  16. It actually looks like it's in Dallas Maverick's blue. Hmmmmm.
  17. Maybe THIS will help cheer you up. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I saw this during McCain's speech.
  18. I was actually trying to point out that if you just cut and paste crap from the political fringes you will end up with inaccuracies.
  19. Since we are just going to cut and paste attacks we receive in our in box (I got that one too, Euless), here's what I got from MoveOn: Did you watch Sarah Palin's speech last night? The speech told us a lot about her. It told us that she can distort the facts and deliver mean-spirited zingers with the best of them. It told us that if Rush Limbaugh or Ann Coulter ever need a stand-in, she'd be a great pick. It told us that she can be condescending and dismissive of the real work Barack Obama did helping real people on the South Side of Chicago. It told us that she can uphold the long Republican tradition of lying about Democratic tax cuts—even though Obama's plan would give Americans a bigger break than McCain's. But the speech—written by one of President Bush's speechwriters—didn't tell us the truth about Sarah Palin's extremist positions. And the more that people know her far-right views, the less they support her. (There's a partial list below.) One of the best ways to get the word out about Palin is to write a letter to the editor of your local paper. Today's a great day to write because this is very relevant—it just happened last night. Plus, our online tool makes it easy and has great tips. Please take a few minutes to write a quick letter to the editor now: http://pol.moveon.org/lte?campaign_id=95&a...uIUNS.x&t=3 Palin's speech and the reaction to it also made clear why McCain picked her. It wasn't a decision about who's most qualified to serve a heart-beat away from the presidency—it was a political decision about pleasing the far-right base of the Republican party. Writing a letter to your local paper is a great way to make sure voters understand that. The opinion pages are the most widely-read pages of the newspaper. Write today, and your letter's a lot more likely to get published because it's so topical. It'll help sway the editorial board too. Here are a bunch of points you might want to include in your letter: * Palin recently said that the war in Iraq is "God's task." She's even admitted she hasn't thought about the war much—just last year she was quoted saying, "I've been so focused on state government, I haven't really focused much on the war in Iraq." 1, 2 * Palin has actively sought the support of the fringe Alaska Independence Party. Six months ago, Palin told members of the group—who advocate for a vote on secession from the union—to "keep up the good work" and "wished the party luck on what she called its 'inspiring convention.'" 3 * Palin wants to teach creationism in public schools. She hasn't made clear whether she thinks evolution is a fact.4 * Palin doesn't believe that humans contribute to global warming. Speaking about climate change, she said, "I'm not one though who would attribute it to being manmade." 5 * Palin has close ties to Big Oil. Her inauguration was even sponsored by BP. 6 * Palin is extremely anti-choice. She doesn't even support abortion in the case of rape or incest. 7 * Palin opposes comprehensive sex-ed in public schools. She's said she will only support abstinence-only approaches. 8 * As mayor, Palin tried to ban books from the library. Palin asked the library how she might go about banning books because some had inappropriate language in them—shocking the librarian, Mary Ellen Baker. According to Time, "news reports from the time show that Palin had threatened to fire Baker for not giving "full support" to the mayor." 9 * She DID support the Bridge to Nowhere (before she opposed it). Palin claimed that she said "thanks, but no thanks" to the infamous Bridge to Nowhere. But in 2006, Palin supported the project repeatedly, saying that Alaska should take advantage of earmarks "while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist." 10 The plain fact of the matter is that Sarah Palin did a bang-up job delivering a Karl Rove-style political attack speech last night. That makes her a skilled politician but it doesn't make her views any more palatable for voters. Americans don't really want another far-right, anti-science ideologue in the White House. Please help get the word out about where Sarah Palin really stands on the issues. http://pol.moveon.org/lte?campaign_id=95&a...uIUNS.x&t=4 Thanks for all you do. –Nita, Ilyse, Wes, Karin and the rest of the team P.S. 20. No, I'm in Austin where I often voice my displeasure with the current administration through protest. If I had been in St. Paul, rest assured, I would have been on the streets with the rest of the protesters. Many of those people are my friends. Most are bright, passionate, articulate people, and a there are also a few nuts.
  21. When do you want to talk? and what is the bet?
  22. Anyone notice on the FOXSW college wrap up show (or whatever Rick Renner's show is called) the full screen graphic listed ASU as the Indians?
  23. The truth off the matter is football is won in the trenches. Our offensive and defensive lines aren't big or experienced enough to be effective, much less dominating. I don't care what offense you run, if you don't create lanes you can't move the ball. Defensive lines have to get a good push and tackle. Our next couple of recruiting classes better consist of some beef! GO MEAN GREEN !!!!!!!!!!!
