  1. Man, the rhetoric from KRAM and Silver seems a bit more venomous lately. And not just this thread. I've been there. It usually takes a person with a good sense of humor to bring me down. If only there were someone allowed to post here and bring us all back to reality with a chuckle or two. Ah hell, in 2 weeks time I'm sure I'll get all riled up and jump back into it. But for now I've found my happy place. SERENITY NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Correct me if I'm wrong (and in this case I may be. I'm going off memory) didn't you suggest to me one way to pay for college was to run up a credit card?
  3. Then what part of the class would you be in? If you are going to quote a publication, please use a source other than the Washington Times.
  4. And of course he identified himself as one of the higher rated students. Oh the irony.
  5. Who said I'm mad about it? True representation of socialism? comedic, but accurate.
  6. So his experiment consisted of 3 tests? Wow. How in depth! And not at all a true representation of socialism. This fails as a legitimate scientific experiment. I make the hypothesis that those students originally making good grades would grow tired of the failing grades and would help the struggling students.
  7. The better poll question is which game will Bowen get frustrated and kick someone in the balls? It seems to be his favorite form of retaliation.
  8. I had a chance to see chompski speak once. It completely opened my eyes to the Israel/Palestein situation.
  9. Tech. They are Bob Barker to my Happy Gilmore. "I just hate that Bob Barker!"
  10. IN THE NEWS: COLLEGE FANS WARNED ABOUT FACEBOOK COMMENTS CYBERSPACE (AP) -- College sports fans, be careful of the company you keep on Facebook. You might get yourself -- and the program you support -- in trouble. That was the lesson this week for Taylor Moseley, a North Carolina State freshman who expressed a common-enough opinion on campus when he started the Facebook group called "John Wall PLEASE come to NC STATE!!!!" More than 700 people signed up for the group encouraging Wall -- a local standout and the nation's No. 1 basketball recruit -- to pick the Wolfpack by national signing day next week. But the NCAA says such sites, and dozens more like them wooing Wall and other top recruits, violate its rules. More than just cheerleading boards, the NCAA says the sites are an attempt to influence the college choice of a recruit. On the Net: NACC site: http://www.ncaa.org
  11. I don't think it's illegal, but I also don't think the parties will let you do it. Primaries are a function of the parties, not the government. Even though the government is used to tabulate the votes, it's not an official government election. I assume the parties reimburse the state/local agencies for their time, but I can't be sure of it. This is the very thing Greens, Libertarians, etc. get so riled about, and why the two party system cannot be broken. But to answer your question, if you try and vote in more than one primary you haven't broken the law (although I'm no authority on the matter), but you won't be allowed to do it. Also know that if you vote in the Republican primary b/c the Democratic races are pretty much decided, (or vise-versa) you are now a registered Republican until the next primary rolls around. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. My friends think it's hysterical when I'm registered as a Republican, but sometimes it just makes more sense. As a matter of fact I will probably vote in the Republicans primary again this year. I just think it's a foregone conclusion that a Republican will be Governor, and I'd like to have a say in who I'm going to eventually campaign against.
  12. A snap under center during practice is one thing...
  13. Odd story about the '79 tornado. A friend of mine (just a boy at the time) moved with his family a few days before that tornado. Things did not work out where they moved, and a week later they returned only to find their house completely destroyed. He's a photographer for a tv station now and regularly chases tornadoes.
  14. I believe it was Jon Stewart who said, "I don't think even the Washington Monument has balls enough to T-Bag the White House."
  15. Maybe he's Obama's weed connection
  16. I worked UT's spring game. Colt didn't look good, but his receivers dropped a lot of passes as well. The game was very boring and I almost fell asleep. GMG!!!!!
  17. From a Bill Hicks bit about the "People Who Hate People Party": "People who hate people - come together!!" "NO!" ... We're kinda having trouble getting of the boards, but you know ... "Are you gonna be there?" "Yeah" "Then I ain't f*&#in' coming" "But you're our strongest member!" "F*&@ YOU!" "That's what I'm talking about, you a-hole!" "F*&# Off!!" "Damn, we almost had a meeting going..."
  18. Bummer. I am very saddened by this. Is there a way to help the family?
  19. I learned years ago, no matter the extenuating circumstances, when you get pulled over by a cop do these 3 things: 1. Turn off the car and take the keys out of the ignition. Place them on the dash if you can. 2. Put your hands on the steering wheel (where they can be seen) and wait for the cop to come to your door. Do NOT get out, unless of course the cop asks you to. 3. Treat the cop with respect, but don't kiss his ass. He/She has probably determined if you are getting a ticket by the time they talk to you. If, as in this case, there are reasons for your behavior, wait for the cop to ask you. If an authority figure with a gun is questioning you, do what he says. Don't startle, scare or piss that person off, it can only be a detriment to you. I've had a few brushes with cops, and I try to follow these rules. It was harder to do as a young driver, but on more then one occasion I've had quite pleasant conversations with cops while they write me up. Sure I'm pissed, but I'm also guilty. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.
  20. He's not negative. He's positive the Rangers will trade away there talent. He's right about there history with pitching, though.
  21. What is Open U.'s mascot? Might they share the same mascot as MIT?
  22. Pitching is the hardest position to develop in baseball. My fear is the Rangers (of which I'm an avid fan) will rush their talent through the minors. The Rangers exceeded my expectations last year. I hope they can make strides in their bullpen this year.
  23. GWB's budget did not include the cost of the war. Obama's does. Is this why Obama's budget appears to be 4 times bigger? I'm just asking.
  24. Is that b/c George W. Bush kept the cost of the Iraq & Afghanastan wars out of the budget?
