You MIGHT convince an administration but never a fan base (read as donors).

I'm not necessarily a softball fan, but do follow it per my job. The UNT team is starting to show signs of vast improvement. Of course, once they get any recognition, the coach will leave and the program will be in the shi*&ter again. Sorry for the negative waves.

While I didn't know him, he was a friend of some of my family. Not to derail the thread but he saw the danger in hiring Dodge. From all accounts he was a very good man.

Back to the original post...Not true. If you walk across the UT campus you see t shirts from other schools, even aTm. Obviously there is more UT gear, but other school's gear appears. It happens everywhere, well, maybe not college station. And I'd bet the higher the winning percentage of the athletic program, the higher count of that schools tshirt sales. I don't like it either, but it happens. It's worse at UNT b/c we don't have a winning tradition.

Thought I'd win the Jimmy Hoffa award as the poster who just dropped out of sight.

Dude, I'm in El Paso but nowhere near a tv. Oddly enough I'm sitting in a tv broadcast truck.

Cool. I'll get back to you on details.

Bringing wife and kids to Denton for our only trip this season. It's Homecoming, so I assume there will lots of activites for the kids (ages 5 & 3). But I'd like to crash a tailgate or two and meet some like minded folks. Maybe trade a beer for some brisket, talk some sports (I favor the run to set up the pass), politics (I'm strictly Torie party, so no Whigs please), etc. Any invites or suggestions to make this trip to "Dada's school" a memorable one? Thx. EagleD

Watch Coach Mac dance the fight song at the end of the video
EagleD replied to Tree's topic in Mean Green Football
Loved it. "Who wants a piece of Houston's ass?". Greatness. I watched most of the first half on line. Horrible television directing. When the ball is snapped you are mandated to be on the game camera (high 50 or alternating 35's depending on camera setup). This was routinely missed. My directors get their ass chewed when this happens. I was asked to work the Houston game but was already booked. I hope to work a NT game soon. GO MEAN GREEN!!!! -
Enjoy. Wish I was there

My 3 year old must be a huge fan. He keeps waking his mom and dad up. Got to start em early.

I see your point. And I agree.

Silver, I agree that this culture needs to change. I disagree that there is no plan for it. Game day experience has changed drastically since RV's arrival. New conference next year with more recognizable/regional opponents. New stadium. All these things are designed to get more fans to the game. It's working, but it's gonna take time. Apathy is everywhere. I travel on Saturdays and work a lot of college football games. I was in Huntington WV to work the Marshall game 2 weeks ago. On game day people all over the city were wearing Marshall gear; hotel, airport, restaraunt workers. The town got behind the school. On a side note, their school colors look a LOT like ours. Kind of felt like I was in Denton. The week before I was at UAB. It was just the opposite. Btw, that stadium blows (and I have to go back later in the year). I saw more people with Bama gear than UAB. I feel like our culture is somewhere in between. Marshall is the only game in town, so getting the town hyped up is not as hard. UAB battles Bama for recognition. And loses. We are in Denton and need to get the city hyped. The game day atmosphere has taken a big step in the right direction. We will likely never win DFW for respect. We can't worry about that. But we can change Denton. And we are. Consistent winning will really help. Nobody wants to see a loser when there are other options.

GoMeanGreen.com Barbershop Podcast tonight 9:05PM w/Johnny Quinn and B
EagleD replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I never miss an episode. If you download it on iTunes make sure you rate it 5 stars. Even if you have to wait until Sunday like me and Vito's segment is dated, it's still required ear candy. Looking forward to JQ's segment. I work with a former teammate of his and last time I wore my JQ jersey I heard from across the building, "Is that a Johnny Quinn throw back jersey!!!!?". It was nice to hear. -

The coaches shows are sponsored in part by Time Warner Cable. I giggle every time I see that. -

We like it. Some issues early on but we've had it for 4+ years with no real problems. -
Best chance for a good family outing is probably family weekend. I'm gonna try and bring my boy for HC.
-
Just got my work schedule for football season. I'm off the weekends of Family weekend and Homecoming. I'm bringing my family (wife, 5 yr old girl and 3 yr old boy) to one game. Cant do both Tentativly we are coming in for family weekend, but Homecoming sounds intriguing.

The Chick-Fil-A controversy
EagleD replied to GreenBat's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
It's the NY Post. But it does bring up an interesting point. I refuse to shop at a number of places for socio-political reasons. If I'm asked about it I'll give my reasoning, but for the most part I just keep my money in my pocket then use it elsewhere. I consider it a silent form of protest and save my vocal chords for cheering at games or actually demonstrating at bigger functions. I don't like the way the COO of CFA spends their profits, so I don't give them any of my money. I also think the Mayors of Boston and Chicago were out of line. But they are politicians jumping on a hot button issue. It'll come back to bite 'em. -
The Chick-Fil-A controversy

It's not that the Pres/CEO opposes gay marriage. Lots of people do. It's that he gave 5 million dollars to 2 organizations that promote hate speech concerning gay people. THAT is the real issue. -
I was excited about football season until I listened to Vito.

Just like I want the money out of politics, I want the fraud out of healthcare. Troll bait but that's how I feel. I'm voting 3rd party. It's weird to think I may vote with a lot of right leaning voters. I don't agree with Gary Johnson on all issues, but I think a valid third party voice deserves to be heard. Traditionally, I vote Green but I'm looking for a voice to make some noise. If you stop the money grab in politics, you stop the corruption. I swore I wouldn't post in this forum today. 3+ hours to go. I almost made it.

Yeah. I often think in terms of tv markets. I assumed it was third. Behind Dallas and Houston. -
