  1. After you read about Josh Hunt, Terell Brooks and Torrance Carr.....read the other notes. See who Coach Lama used as motivation for our big tennis win over Okie State (it's football related): http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/drc/sports/stories/drc_untnotebook_0126.eed81c04.html
  2. Baseball announcement? Just a wild guess....I have no inside info.
  3. He didn't say that the news was related to recruiting. It might be.....but it could be something else.
  4. I know it's probably a misperception.....but it seems like every one of our recent commits has been recruited by Justin Gaines. He's phenomenal. Really nice guy....if you get the chance to meet him, take advantage of it.
  5. At 6'3", 210...he isn't much of Mama's cooking away from being a really speedy LB. Just sayin'

  7. Thanks buddy.....
  8. Great athletes, who play QB in high school.....are so versatile. I love when we sign guys like this. I know of three former high school QBs on our team....who are playing different positions at NT. (James Hamilton--running back; Darius Carey---wide receiver; Jeremy Phillips---linebacker). There are probably more....those three just come to mind. Welcome aboard Torrance.
  9. He's a heckuva hoopster, as well: http://vimeo.com/13830318
  10. Brett's blog info: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives/2011/01/recruiting----early-evening-up.html
  11. Vito is reporting that we have picked up a commit from Torrance Carr....a heckuva athlete. Lots of Google info on both his football and basketball highlights. Here it shows him as Offensive MVP of 9-5A: http://www.texashsfootball.com/awards/2010/alldistrict/dist95a.htm
  12. Wednesday February 2---Signing Date. Thanks for pointing out my omission. I've since corrected the first post.
  13. Please see address correction. (in the first post). It is being held, as I originally thought....at the Holiday Inn Express behind Johnny Carino's (on I-35 E). Take the Teasley Exit....go north on the service road (heading toward campus). When you get to Carino's....turn right. The Holiday Inn Express is about 1/3 mile to the back. Actual address: 1434 Centre Place Drive Phone: 940-383-4100. GMG!

  15. If anybody on here who is not in the Mean Green Club....and you want to go to this for $10 price (instead of $20)....just contact any of the Mean Green Club reps on the board. We'll be glad to put you on the guest list. Reps on the board include myself, UNT 90, UNT 90 Grad, FFR, KRAM1, and others. Just PM any of us....tell us your name and that you want to go...(at least we can save you $10)
  16. The event will be at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites .....1434 Centre Place Drive. The phone number is 940-383-4100. This is the Holiday Inn Express behind Johnny Carino's on I-35 E. Take the Teasley exit.....go North on the Service Road......(heading toward campus). When you get to the road where Johnny Carino's is....turn right. It's about 1/3 mile in the back. The event will be on Signing Date....February 2nd. As to the event......registration starts at 6:00, the reception begins at 6:30. There will be food and a cash bar. (Have no idea what food means---hors doeuvers? meal?)...just telling you what my e-mail says. And now the other news....this year they are charging for this event. It's $10 for Mean Green Club Members and guests of Mean Green Club representatives. It's $20 for the General Public. Don't shoot the messenger....
  17. Can I ask....who informed you of this? Someone in an official capacity somewhere? Just wondering. I'd like the league more if it had NMSU in the west....Ark. State in the East instead of Georgia State (another upstart program). Also, how do we just get two new bowl games? We'd ditch New Orleans and Mobile? Mobile's game drew 38,000. I think the NCAA is probably near its' limit on bowl certification.
  18. I still can't believe no one has offered Joe Minden. I know we're set at QB...but I think someone's gonna get a good player if they offer him. As to the D lineman mentioned in the article, I looked him up. Marcquel Sheppard is listed as being 5'10", 270....so I'm sure the height is why he has no offers. But still.....in my years of following NT....some of our best defensive linemen have been 5'10 or shorter: Walter Chapman, "Booger" Kennedy, Jimmy Odoms. I'd definitely allow Marcquel to walk-on....if no one offers him. Heck he was Def. MVP of a pretty good 4A league.
  19. If the MWC were to add USU and SJSU.....the most pissed off people on the planet: Boise State fans. They have basically just left the WAC.....to then have most of the WAC rejoin them. They thought they'd be in a league with BYU, TCU, and Utah. Now, they'd be getting Fresno State, Nevada, Hawaii, Utah State and SJSU from the league they just bolted. I realize that this may not be what happens.....but still you've got to think Boise fans are beside themselves over this potentially happening.
  20. I see this thing working out well for us....one way or the other. Either we get into a better league...or we add a few teams (NMSU, La. Tech, Texas State, UTSA) and form a stronger Belt. Hey, I know the last scenario isn't the most popular (with me either). But the worst thing that could have happened....the Belt get raided, we lose a few teams (other than us)....and we're stuck in a weaker version of the Belt. So I think we're gonna be all right....and yes I'd still "kill" to be in the MWC or CUSA...please don't misunderstand my point.
  21. Yeah...I think we're ditching Under Armour. I hope so.
  22. Thank you sir.
  23. From what I've been told, the Victory Hall students have to have their cars out of the VH parking lot on Game Day.
  24. Marty....was this Kinne's first year as the head coach up there?
  25. In 2009 (his junior year): 108 carries, 1119 yards (10.4 yard per carry average); 12 TDs rushing 24 receptions for 332 yards, 1 TD reception In 2010 (his senior year): 119 carries, 846 yards (7.11 yard per carry average); 18 TDs rushing 28 receptions for 244 yards, 2 TDs His coach this past year at Sherman was Gary Joe Kinne (who was that high school coach who was shot several years ago....remember that story? Kinne's son played QB at Tulsa).
