I think you missed the criticism threads......because they weren't there. -
Basketball Team Not Deserving Of Criticism
SUMG replied to Glad To Be Green's topic in Mean Green Basketball
As to scheduling....I can probably think of 100+ schools that would give us home and homes....that would help our strength of schedule and thus our RPI. There are I think 33 leagues.....so there's a huge gap between the top 5-6 leagues and the bottom 5-6. We seem to schedule way too many games with the bottom 5 leagues (Southland, SWAC) and NAIA/Division II schools. Not saying to avoid the Southland....but contact some teams from other leagues. The Horizon, the Big West, the WAC, the Missouri Valley, the Atlantic 10....and many, many more. Or we can keep doing what we do: Play a lot of Sisters of the poor, rack up a lot of wins that don't do anything for our RPI......and then bitch when a 22-11 record doesn't get us a NIT bid. -
I'm checking for you buddy. You're a few weeks early for the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival. Also, I checked....the Texas Rangers are out of town (if you like baseball). So far.....I'm coming up pretty empty. I did find this down in Fort Worth (30 minutes south on I-35 W): http://www.mainstreetartsfest.org/home.aspx Never been to it....heard a lot of good things about it though.

Tomorrow night in Lake Charles....on ESPNU. Just pointing it out to show the importance of winning the regular season championship. Because if you lose in your post season tourney (and don't get an NCAA at-large bid)....you at least get NIT action. Very surprised that they're getting to host this game though. I'm guessing Riley Dodge had some influence.

What Idiot Decided To Have 11 And 12 Seed Play In Games?
SUMG replied to Andrew's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Look at it this way.....there could be a year when this current seeding process....keeps us out of a play-in game. (if they just went with the bottom 8 being in play-in games). I really didn't want them to go to 68.....but I think the way they did it....was very fair. Now if they go to 96, which they probably enventually will....that will eliminate the play-in games. -

After being swept by ULL yesterday, our ladies won 8-5 today. That's a huge win....way to go Mean Green!

UNT, FIU and Arkansas were his only listed visits: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Devonta-Abron-93722

I wonder if somehow Devonta Abron might try to get out of his scholarship? Wishful thinking...probably.

Good work on finding these. Your updates are much appreciated.

I'm holding out hope that we get invited to the brand new NCBIT tournament.

What a ride this has been. Thanks for a fun year.

He, Tyler Hall and Avery Redmond were three walk-ons on the team this year. Jamie and Tyler have been with us the last two years as walk-ons.

Just passing this along...I got it on Facebook: If NT wins, a free bus for students to take to Hot Springs & the title game. Will depart from Fouts Field @ 10:45am on Tues. and return around 3:30am. Email name and ID# to tracy.frier@unt.edu if interested.

I know it may be hard to believe.....but we'll have a fresher team than WKU tomorrow night. In both of our games....our bench has given us more substitute minutes than theirs has. As a matter of fact, Kerusch and Pettigrew both played 40 minutes tonight. We'll take any edge we can get.

UALR beating Ark State 42-38....with 9 minutes left. Middle is routing FIU 42-19.... If....Arkansas State loses, that's another bye team out of the tourney.

Here's the bracket. Sure looks to me like we're playing on the other court: http://www.sunbeltsports.org/fls/4100/mbball_stats/2010/2010-11-mbball-bracket.pdf?DB_OEM_ID=4100

That game will be our first ever game on the Convention Center court there in Hot Springs. All previous games that we've played have been in the Summit Arena.

The band is light years (spirit wise) from what it was years ago. At one time, the band didn't act like they wanted to be at games.....now they do. (and have for all the years I've been back in the area---since 2007). As a matter of fact....I think the band gets credit for the Odufu-who? Odufu-wa! line....which is one of the best chants we've had in years. So, I'll stick up for the band. And I think the Super Pit is still one great arena. I do agree that some minor changes could make it better.

George...not sure if the league's finalized it's decision on this yet: But it has been mentioned that the SBC will stay with every team just playing 8 conference games, once USA comes on board. Every year, there would be one team that a school wouldn't play. (I'm sure they would alternate the teams.). Anyway, that's the last I had heard...was that they would keep it at 8 conference games....mainly to allow our schools to have four OOC (read $$$) games. One other advantage to playing 8.....4 home and 4 away SBC games....instead of a 5/4 imbalance.
