  8. No, let's do give Trilli credit for the green seats. People had griped about the orange seats for years.....but it wasn't until Vic got to Denton that anything was done. Joe and I were both on the green seat committee, but the credit rightfully belongs to Vic....on this.
  9. Back before they all had nothing to do with the Stephens' hire: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/drc/sports/stories/DRC_Vito_Column_0418.74c87134.html
  10. This past football season, a good friend asked RV about Stephens. His first response was that Bataille demanded that the new women's b-ball coach be a woman. So my friend then says, "Well why didn't you hire Donna Capps?" RV says "you wouldn't believe the demands that Capps made." Really? Capps was an administrator for the Mesquite ISD. Demands? Anyway, if Stephens was forced on RV....why wasn't that the first thing he said. They really should get one story and stick to it. I guess they think we're idiots.
  11. Then how come the week of the interviews for the job....the Vito blog reported that RV and the committee were "wowed" by Stephens. Stephens interviewed on a Tuesday....and the word got out in Vito's blog that the committee was blown away ("wowed was the exact word he used). I told someone when I heard that....that the search was over. This was three days before Capps interviewed. Revisionist history is a great thing.....especially when the one being blamed (Bataille) is no longer here to defend herself.
  12. Posting the link from Brett (which he's posted as well): http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/archives/2011/03/north-texas-fires-womens-baske.html
  13. Just got word.....will post the Vito link as soon as he puts it up.
  14. I think you missed the criticism threads......because they weren't there.
  15. As to scheduling....I can probably think of 100+ schools that would give us home and homes....that would help our strength of schedule and thus our RPI. There are I think 33 leagues.....so there's a huge gap between the top 5-6 leagues and the bottom 5-6. We seem to schedule way too many games with the bottom 5 leagues (Southland, SWAC) and NAIA/Division II schools. Not saying to avoid the Southland....but contact some teams from other leagues. The Horizon, the Big West, the WAC, the Missouri Valley, the Atlantic 10....and many, many more. Or we can keep doing what we do: Play a lot of Sisters of the poor, rack up a lot of wins that don't do anything for our RPI......and then bitch when a 22-11 record doesn't get us a NIT bid.
  16. I'm checking for you buddy. You're a few weeks early for the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival. Also, I checked....the Texas Rangers are out of town (if you like baseball). So far.....I'm coming up pretty empty. I did find this down in Fort Worth (30 minutes south on I-35 W): http://www.mainstreetartsfest.org/home.aspx Never been to it....heard a lot of good things about it though.
  17. Tomorrow night in Lake Charles....on ESPNU. Just pointing it out to show the importance of winning the regular season championship. Because if you lose in your post season tourney (and don't get an NCAA at-large bid)....you at least get NIT action. Very surprised that they're getting to host this game though. I'm guessing Riley Dodge had some influence.
  18. Look at it this way.....there could be a year when this current seeding process....keeps us out of a play-in game. (if they just went with the bottom 8 being in play-in games). I really didn't want them to go to 68.....but I think the way they did it....was very fair. Now if they go to 96, which they probably enventually will....that will eliminate the play-in games.

  20. After being swept by ULL yesterday, our ladies won 8-5 today. That's a huge win....way to go Mean Green!
  21. UNT, FIU and Arkansas were his only listed visits: http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/recruiting/player-Devonta-Abron-93722
  22. I wonder if somehow Devonta Abron might try to get out of his scholarship? Wishful thinking...probably.
  23. Good work on finding these. Your updates are much appreciated.
  24. I'm holding out hope that we get invited to the brand new NCBIT tournament.
  25. What a ride this has been. Thanks for a fun year.
