  1. “I have a mindset that I’m the best rebounder in Texas, and the nation,” M.J. Thomas said. “I feel like I’m the best kid, the best rebounder on the floor. When I go get the rebounds, man, it’s dangerous.” An all-state wide receiver at Calvert, M.J. Thomas also played middle linebacker for the six-man football team. A couple of bumps and bruises in the low post won’t slow him down, his father said. “When people think that if they punch him, play dirty with him, he’ll stop; it really turns him on,” Michael Thomas said. “He loves to be physical.”
  2. I'll post the story. Not sure if everyone can see it.....might be behind a pay wall: https://www.dallasnews.com/high-school-sports/2023/01/25/at-denton-high-a-father-son-duo-has-helped-turn-the-boys-basketball-team-into-a-winner/
  3. We haven't offered this kid....he's a 6'7" power forward. Okie State and Vandy have offered....along with Sacramento State and New Orleans. Story on him in the DMNews today. Moved here from Calvert. His Dad is head coach at Denton High.....and M.J. is having a great season. 17 ppg and 13.4 rpg. He mentioned in the story that he loves to rebound..... https://247sports.com/Recruitment/MJ-Thomas-141150/RecruitInterests/
  4. Was looking at the CUSA tournament brackets this morning. I believe I'm correct on this: There will be 5 byes in each bracket (men's and women's). On Day 1.......teams 6-11 will play (6 vs. 11, 7 vs. 10, 8 vs.9) That will be produce 3 winners.....who will then go on to play the top 3 seeds in Round 2. The other (4th) game in round 2.....will be a matchup of the 4-5 seeds. We're in really good shape right now. I don't think we can catch FAU, because they have essentially a 4 game lead on us (since they won the season series). But, if we can stay in that #2 seed spot.......we would avoid them until the Finals.
  5. Kollin Lewis posted on Twitter.....that he'll be coming to Denton for his official visit.....this weekend.
  6. Not sure if we've ever had any other FB players from Connecticut.....but I remember one. A really good WR in the late 1970s........Pete Harvey. (was from Darien, as I recall)
  7. I don't know if he'll be one of these two.....but I think we have a good shot at getting Kollin Lewis, from Gladewater.
  8. Thanks so much for this concise update.
  9. Hired by Tulsa.....so he'll be in our league:
  10. One of only three G5s on the list.....us, UL and UCF (and UCF is gonna be P5 after this school year)
  11. Looked up his stats last year at Illinois State. 9 games played.....11 catches, 121 yards, 1 TD.
  12. 6'5". 185 lbs.....from Bethany, Oklahoma. Some list him as a safety prospect. Looks like he played a lot of positions in high school. Offers: UIW, La Tech, South Dakota State, Ohio, Army, Air Force, Brown (Ivy League). Obviously a smart kid.

  14. And didn't Ridge Texada come to us from McNeese State???
  15. Didn't know he had been picked up by the Browns......but he's active today. 1 punt return for 10 yards.....so far.
  16. There are OOC football games that need to be scheduled. I think we have an opening next year, one the following and two spots to fill in 2025. As I recall anyway.
  17. Game is on ESPN +....Saturday at 6 (central)
  18. Disregard earlier post (above)....the official site now has the Omaha game back on 12/3....instead of 12/6.
  19. The official site now lists the Omaha game.....but on 12/6....not 12/3
  20. Looks like we'll all be playing 20 conference games. (a home and home with every other team). That's the most fair. But doesn't leave us many spots for more OOC home games.
  21. Game with Grand Canyon on Dec. 10.
