Jeff......the first time I knew that UNCC was using "Mean Green" was back in 1977. That was the year they made the Final Four in men's basketball (Al McGuire and Marquette won it all that year). They were using "Mean Green" a lot back then. Anyway...if it makes you feel any better.....as I recall their fight song, was to the same melody as "Texas Fight". (They may have changed it by now and have a new fight song). Anyway.....North Texas should have copyrighted "Mean Green" way back when. Sadly it didn't. GOMG! (Go Original Mean Green!)

The Sun Belt Conference will launch an enhanced website on July 13, the conference announced today. The Sun Belt Conference has selected XOS Network, a division of XOS Technologies, Inc. From what I understand little ole Tulsa (4,000 enrollment) has over 700 members in its' Hurricane Club. UNT has less than 300 people in the Mean Green Club. That is pathetic. Just another reason why the Tulsas, Marshalls, South Floridas, Central Floridas, SMU, Rice and others pass up by when conference realignment occurs. Which of these schools will be the next to pass UNT (and join a better league) because their fanbase is more committed than ours: Troy? ULL? FAU? Others?

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Alexandra "Alex" Scott was the 8-year-old founder of Alex’s Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research. Two days before her first birthday she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. At the age of four, Alex decided to do something to make that cure more likely. She opened her first lemonade stand in July of 2000 with the idea of donating the proceeds to "her hospital." Each year since, Alex has held an annual lemonade stand in her front yard. As word has spread, donations have poured in from around the world, and she has raised over $2,500,000 for pediatric cancer.

From MSNBC.com): McLEAN, Virginia - A mother has been charged with child abuse and cruelty after she allegedly forced two of her children to take turns riding in the trunk of a car on an eight-hour drive from Alabama to Virginia. Cheryl Ann Schoonmaker, 38, forced the two girls, aged 8 and 10, to take turns in the trunk July 1 because there was not enough room in the car, according to Curtis Schoonmaker, her ex-husband. The woman was driving five children, including an infant, to her ex-husband's home outside Washington D.C. None of the children was injured during the trip. The girls told their father what happened the next day and he called the police. A magistrate in Stafford County released Schoonmaker on $5,000 bail, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. "They asked to be let out. ... It was a hot day," Curtis Schoonmaker said. Efforts to reach Cheryl Schoonmaker were unsuccessful Monday. Three of the five girls in the car were the Schoonmakers' children. One of the other children was a family friend and the infant was Cheryl Schoonmaker's. Cheryl Schoonmaker is scheduled for arraignment July 22. The charges each carry a maximum of five years in prison. Curtis Schoonmaker said his ex-wife had the option of renting a larger car but declined to do so. "She claims she doesn't see the harm in it," he said. "She didn't believe any accident would result."

For those who don't know (weren't around then)...back in '88 when we went to the NCAA tourney (for the only time in our history).....our center on that team was Ronnie Morgan. Fast forward to 2005....and I read in today's DMN, that Ronnie's son (Ronnie, Jr.) has transferred from Desoto so that he can play high school ball at his dad's high school alma mater (SOC). It also stated that Morgan, Jr. was at the Denton Shoot-out and is attracting interest from many Div. 1 programs......including UNT. Buford.....Cooley.......anyone who would know......is this young man as good as his dad was? If he is (or is better even) I would sure love to see us sign him. He's thinner (6'7", 205). Ronnie, Sr. was pretty beefy, as I recall (240 or so). Any scouts out there who know about Ronnie Morgan, Jr.........

If we want this program to go anywhere....IT IS IMPERATIVE.....that we get more people in the Mean Green Club. Schools like Tulsa and La. Tech have many more members in their respective clubs than we do, from what I understand. It's time for UNT fans to either put up ($$$) or shut up. I appreciate all the people who renewed and I especially APPRECIATE any new members in the MGC. We need many more. WWRVD?

Every year, it's the same thing, Rick ole pal. You predict a win over a UT,OU, LSU or whatever big team we open with. And every year, the game isn't even close. Remember 65-0, in a game that wasn't even THAT close. Why will this year be ANY different? (Remember LSU has a new coach and there's no way Les Miles will want to open up his LSU career with even a close game against UNT).

Since you signed up for 10 monthly payments.....and there are 12 months in the year......maybe she just decided to hit your credit card/checking account (whatever you used) for the tickets the first month.......and will take out for the MGC in months 2-11. That way you wouldn't get slammed with both tickets and MGC payment in one month. Is that possible?

Bought two season tickets.......and am in the MGC. I'm not gonna send any money in to any stadium fund.......until they announce (publically) that there is such a fund.

You need to clarify something. Yes or No aren't really good responses. It should say "Help" and "Hurt."

A few months ago.....the basketball secretary told me that the 2005-2006 schedule should be finalized and ready for publication in July. It'll be interesting to see if we have any marquee home games. (There's been a rumor about TTech and The General coming to Denton, but I have never heard it confirmed any where).

Sadly but true but there was a time when USM wanted to be like North Texas and some of you were around when this was the case. Seems I've even heard our AD say something to that effect because he was at USM around that era.

I hate to tell you this.....but Noble assumed room temperature several years ago. So, having a dead NT celeb on the sideline.........I'd say no to that.

I agree whole-heartedly that Walter Chapman should be in the HOF. I wonder if the fact that we were an Indy from 1975-1982 hurts players from those years. Because I don't know who's on the committee, but if they are people who weren't around then......they probably put a lot of stock in All-Conference selections, of which none of our players from that era would have ever had the chance to receive. Malcolm Jones should also be in the HOF, IMHO. Of this group....Brian, Lance and Burkley are all deserving of this honor. And, I know Krista was great in soccer......I'm not familiar with the other two.....
