Yeah, we definitely need to hire the right guy to replace Dr. Pohl. That's why I think we should hire Karl Rove. Anyone who could get Bush elected President TWICE.....would probably have UNT in the Big 12 by no later than 2007. Plus, I've heard that Mr. Rove might be looking for work soon. Seriously, Dr. Pohl thanks for all you've done. You WILL BE MISSED.

No. But if you are in the Mean Green Club at a $1000 (or more) donation level....you can be in The President's Council. All you have to do is ask Athletics to run your donation by the folks at Development, so that you get credit. So without one extra penny....you can go from being in the MGC.....to also being in The President's Council. All you have to do is let them you know you want credit for both.

Are U For Harry/Cerebus Pinning Virtual Video

I'll be very surprised if that baseball park is built any time soon. The Outlaws owners seem to be having money problems, which I don't think 237 people per game are going to solve. -

I voted yes....but it's very possible that the Athletic Department put pressure on them to take that video off of this site. After all...the Athletic Department never released that video. One of the posters on here (CAV) knew about it, and alerted everyone to it. -
I think he was on the Calgary Stampeders.

How Many of You Plan On Giving To The Mean Green
SUMG replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
FFJ...I like you, live out of town and am unable to participate in many of The President's Council events. But, that being said....it doesn't cost any extra (once you give $1000 or more to the MGC), so you might as well be in both. Also today......out of the blue.....my mailman had a package for me. It was a nice plate and stand.....from the President's Council. It was a metallic plate with a picture of the Admin. Bldg. and an Eagle in flight. It's very nice.....and on the base, it has my name and the words President's Council. So....that was a nice (and unexpected) keepsake that came today from the President's Council. -
And from what I understand....the Yellow Lot is where they put our fans who have bladder control problems. Correct?

You want the experience of watching a football game at LSU? You can simulate it, by simply watching two Burt Reynolds' flicks, back to back. "The Longest Yard".........then "Deliverance."

Was told today by an athletic department official, that they have had quite a few new people join the Mean Green Club in the past few months. They think that if most all the people who were members last year RENEW......and that we get some more new members from this point on....that we will easily set an all-time high for Mean Green Club members. That's very encouraging news. If YOU haven't joined.....whatcha waitin' for???? -
CBS Sportsline.com has a college football magazine out. I saw it the other day at the bookstore. I don't recall them doing one in the past. Anyway, they give us the highest ranking of any magazine that I've seen: #52 in the nation.

Jeff......the first time I knew that UNCC was using "Mean Green" was back in 1977. That was the year they made the Final Four in men's basketball (Al McGuire and Marquette won it all that year). They were using "Mean Green" a lot back then. Anyway...if it makes you feel any better.....as I recall their fight song, was to the same melody as "Texas Fight". (They may have changed it by now and have a new fight song). Anyway.....North Texas should have copyrighted "Mean Green" way back when. Sadly it didn't. GOMG! (Go Original Mean Green!)

The Sun Belt Conference will launch an enhanced website on July 13, the conference announced today. The Sun Belt Conference has selected XOS Network, a division of XOS Technologies, Inc. (XOS) to deliver a full-service, customized public and premium Web site to provide Sun Belt Conference fans with a broad range of real-time information and content about the conference’s athletic teams. As part of the agreement, XOS will design and implement a platform to manage all of the content and subscription service areas of the new SBC Web site (www.sunbeltsports.org). The XOS Network on-line fan management platform is designed specifically for college athletic departments and professional sports teams. XOS has completed similar interactive, rich-media Web sites for the University of Arizona (www.arizonaathletics.com), University of Nebraska (www.huskers.com), University of Oregon (www.goducks.com), and the official site of the Arena Football League (www.arenafootball.com). “We are very excited about our new and enhanced website and to be partnering in this endeavor with a first-class operation such as XOS Network,” Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Wright Waters said. “This will be a tremendous asset to our fans and will enable them to access thorough sport specific information and content from anywhere in the world. It will also better enable the media who cover our schools to receive information in a more efficient and timely manner. Our conference is continuing to improve in many areas, and this represents another significant step forward for us.” In addition to designing a premium content Web site for the Conference, XOS will enable the conference to sell subscriptions and advertising on the site. E-commerce tools will allow for the promotion of merchandise items throughout the site on specific pages as well as through targeted e-mails. XOS will also provide a range of publishing tools, hosting, archiving and storage capabilities as well as on-going content management training. “We are encouraged by the Sun Belt Conference’s decision to be among the growing number of athletic organizations that are turning to XOS to create and manage their online presence,” said Dan Aton, president and CEO of XOS. “Today’s sports fans want access to comprehensive information quickly and seamlessly. Through this new partnership, Sun Belt fans will be able to view live events, retrieve an abundance of statistics and real-time information, purchase merchandise, and much more from a state-of-the-art Web portal.” THE SUN BELT CONFERENCE The Sun Belt Conference, one of only eleven NCAA conferences to participate in Division 1-A football and basketball, embarks on its 30th season in 2005-2006 with a proud history of athletic and academic success. Each of the 19 sports (9 men, 10 women) sponsored by the conference has seen numerous team and individual accomplishments, and eleven Sun Belt Conference schools are graduating its student athletes at a rate higher than their school’s student body. With a permanent seat on the NCAA’s 16-member Board of Directors, the Sun Belt Conference has a crucial voice on some of the most pressing issues in college athletics and will always have a role in the implementation of any future NCAA legislation and guidelines. The league’s expanded television contract with ESPN, ESPNU and ESPN Regional Television will result in more national and regional television exposure for the conference in 2005-2006 than at any time in its history. XOS TECHNOLOGIES, INC. In its mission to offer one-stop technology solutions geared to help sports teams and leagues win on and off the field, XOS Technologies has developed four product lines – Digital Video Editing Coaching Tools, Facilities Design & Integration, XOS Network On-Line Fan Management Platform and XOS Total Ticketing & Donor Management Solution – which help teams and leagues integrate video, data, teaching and fan management technologies to assure maximum return on each technology investment. Thanks, Cooley. I trust your judgement. If he doesn't sign early (November).......and develops during his senior year.....maybe he might be a good signee in April 2006. Or after a few years of juco seasoning.

How Many of You Plan On Giving To The Mean Green

From what I understand little ole Tulsa (4,000 enrollment) has over 700 members in its' Hurricane Club. UNT has less than 300 people in the Mean Green Club. That is pathetic. Just another reason why the Tulsas, Marshalls, South Floridas, Central Floridas, SMU, Rice and others pass up by when conference realignment occurs. Which of these schools will be the next to pass UNT (and join a better league) because their fanbase is more committed than ours: Troy? ULL? FAU? Others? -
(from Mean Green Sports.com) DENTON (7/12/05) - Join the Mean Green at the Denton Outlaws baseball game to help raise money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Pediatric Cancer Research on Tuesday, July 19 at 7:30 pm at the Ballpark on Bonnie Brae in Denton. North Texas football head coach Darrell Dickey will start the evening off by throwing out the first pitch. Throughout the evening, fans can stop by the Lemonade Stand, hosted by Tory and Meredith Dickey, to purchase an ice-cold beverage. All proceeds will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand and Pediatric Cancer Research. Donations are made in honor of Madie McElroy. Young North Texas fans can take this time to sign up for the Jr. Mean Green Club at a nearby Mean Green tent. Sign up at the game while drinking a glass of lemonade or return your application in the mail. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Alexandra "Alex" Scott was the 8-year-old founder of Alex’s Lemonade Stand For Pediatric Cancer Research. Two days before her first birthday she was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. At the age of four, Alex decided to do something to make that cure more likely. She opened her first lemonade stand in July of 2000 with the idea of donating the proceeds to "her hospital." Each year since, Alex has held an annual lemonade stand in her front yard. As word has spread, donations have poured in from around the world, and she has raised over $2,500,000 for pediatric cancer.

(If true......this is Freaking unbelievable. From MSNBC.com): McLEAN, Virginia - A mother has been charged with child abuse and cruelty after she allegedly forced two of her children to take turns riding in the trunk of a car on an eight-hour drive from Alabama to Virginia. Cheryl Ann Schoonmaker, 38, forced the two girls, aged 8 and 10, to take turns in the trunk July 1 because there was not enough room in the car, according to Curtis Schoonmaker, her ex-husband. The woman was driving five children, including an infant, to her ex-husband's home outside Washington D.C. None of the children was injured during the trip. The girls told their father what happened the next day and he called the police. A magistrate in Stafford County released Schoonmaker on $5,000 bail, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. "They asked to be let out. ... It was a hot day," Curtis Schoonmaker said. Efforts to reach Cheryl Schoonmaker were unsuccessful Monday. Three of the five girls in the car were the Schoonmakers' children. One of the other children was a family friend and the infant was Cheryl Schoonmaker's. Cheryl Schoonmaker is scheduled for arraignment July 22. The charges each carry a maximum of five years in prison. Curtis Schoonmaker said his ex-wife had the option of renting a larger car but declined to do so. "She claims she doesn't see the harm in it," he said. "She didn't believe any accident would result."

For those who don't know (weren't around then)...back in '88 when we went to the NCAA tourney (for the only time in our history).....our center on that team was Ronnie Morgan. Fast forward to 2005....and I read in today's DMN, that Ronnie's son (Ronnie, Jr.) has transferred from Desoto so that he can play high school ball at his dad's high school alma mater (SOC). It also stated that Morgan, Jr. was at the Denton Shoot-out and is attracting interest from many Div. 1 programs......including UNT. Buford.....Cooley.......anyone who would know......is this young man as good as his dad was? If he is (or is better even) I would sure love to see us sign him. He's thinner (6'7", 205). Ronnie, Sr. was pretty beefy, as I recall (240 or so). Any scouts out there who know about Ronnie Morgan, Jr.........

If we want this program to go anywhere....IT IS IMPERATIVE.....that we get more people in the Mean Green Club. Schools like Tulsa and La. Tech have many more members in their respective clubs than we do, from what I understand. It's time for UNT fans to either put up ($$$) or shut up. I appreciate all the people who renewed and I especially APPRECIATE any new members in the MGC. We need many more. WWRVD? -
How come the lady working at the counter at the Adult Bookstore, gives me strange looks when I ask if they carry Good Housekeeping?
