UCF has been mentioned on this thread as a quick turnaround. Not so....O'Leary went 0-12 his first year there. Also, that Rice team of last year: They started out the season 0-4....before winning 7 of their last 8.....and going to the NO Bowl. The Mean Green season is still young, and ripe with opportunities.

I think we go to Kansas State next year----so that would be two next year. That one per year....may be a goal.....but you've got to pay the bills.

I confirmed that with Coach.....right after his show. (wanted to make sure I had heard it right). He also confirmed all the other games that we have coming up: (Air Force, Rice, K-State at home in various years).....LSU, Bama, Clemson, K State, and Rice on the road. Being a guy, I love the Hooter's gals.......but THE SHOW WAS MUCH BETTER TONIGHT AT SWEETWATER. Everyone could hear what Coach was saying. So, I'll miss the eye candy........but will certainly enjoy the show more, now that it's at Sweetwater. Hank said they might move it to the enclosed patio next week. All in all, a great show.

Thanks for the reports. And, I'm sorry if I came across as harsh. I do want to see our gals succeed. But, we never seem to take it to the next level. Is it possible that we were a little full of ourselves and started believing press clippings? ("best start in school history"). Were any of those first six wins over quality teams? (I'm asking, btw........I don't know). Once again, I'll repeat something that a lot of folks may not know: As far as I can tell....UNT has never WON an NCAA playoff game in any sport. (Not 1-aa football; not men's or women's b-ball; not men's soccer; not women's volleyball; not women's soccer). We have won two bowls and NCAA golf championships (but those weren't playoffs).

No matter how pumped we get about women's soccer....it's always the same story. They can never win a big OOC game or a NCAA playoff game. Wake me, when they win an important game.

Hank D told me that they are moving Todd's radio show from Hooter's to Sweetwater Tavern and Grill.....starting this Monday.

Our three conference home games where we have had crowds of more than 20,000: 20,733---McNeese State (1994) 20,252---SFA (1989) 20,064-----NMSU (2002) Personally, anything over 25,000 is going to be fantastic. And, that would be about 10,000+ more than this game would have drawn if Dickey was still our coach. GMG!

I was over there today, too. I looked in the men's rooms......they have been refurbished and are MUCH NICER. New green stalls.......20 new waterless, flushless urinals in each men's room. The urinals have green privacy guards between each one. Plus, I think they are putting ceiling fans in the rest rooms. And this is meant as no offense, at all: But, I think, in person........the paint job looks better than it did in those pictures. I think you will all be impressed with how much better Fouts looks when you see it Saturday.

Hey fellas....having been at the show, I didn't take Coach's comment to be an anti-blitzing statement. It was more along the lines of, when you blitz.....you better get to the guy or it might be a big play offensively. I sure didn't come away thinking that Coach was saying that he didn't believe in blitzing.

I'll stick up for Adam on one of those false start penalties: At the SMU game.....he moved on one of the 3rd down plays, when the bastards at SMU cranked up the volume on their thunderous horse noise. To me, that was total bush league crap on their part. If actual crowd noise causes a false start....that's one thing. To pipe in sound and cause it......stinks. But, hey that's why they're SMU.......souless turds that they are. (okay, I exaggerate....a little).

1) Robert Peachey is back practicing. This week, he will go into the game as the backup to both Venegas and Menard. 2) J-Mo practiced all last week. So, if he practices this week....he may get into the game Saturday. 3) Georgie asked TD about blitzing, and Todd had a great quote: "Every time you blitz....some team's fight song is about to be played." 4) What job would TD likely have if he wasn't a coach?: Meteorologist. He said that he's fascinated by weather, and that his favorite show is "Storm Stories" on the Weather Channel. Georgie asked him if he's ever wanted to chase a tornado, and Todd said "yes." (Note within a post: A tornado doesn't have a chance against The Great TD.) 5) Todd pointed out that his first game ever at UT, was against a Howard Schnellenberger Miami team. 6) I tipped my Hooter's waitress about 30%, and felt that I should have done more.

Those announcers sure said some nice things about our program at half-time. They said amongst other things: "Todd Dodge will get it done at North Texas".........and "it sure is gonna be fun to watch North Texas the next few years" Just more great pub brought to us by the great TODD DODGE!

Are you sure about the Troy numbers (enrollment)? I could have sworn last night, they said Troy has 6,000 students in Troy (with others at campuses throughout the world). Anyway, if true, that makes Troy's attendance EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE. And btw, I agree with you....it behooves us to start having better season attendance averages, if we ever hope to go anywhere.

Strange call by Troy Coach Larry Blakeney: Up 20-3....from deep in Troy's own end of the field....he calls for a fake punt (on a 4th and 10). Didn't get it.....OSU took over at around the 20-25.....and now the score is 20-10 Troy.

I hope that we are able to continue our series with SMU. It'd be nice to play them every year. It'll also be nice to start getting some teams into Denton, whose fans will fill up area hotels. Teams like Okie State, and Kansas State come to mind. I think a lot of the Navy fans this year, will be out of towners. (I know we have K State coming here in 2010). I guess I'd just like to see if the businesses here in Denton, would ever recognize the greatness of having college sports in the town. And, if we can start scheduling teams who bring a lot of their own out-of-town fans to our city that might help. Of course, being Denton....you never know.
