  1. It's the conference, Steve. Afterwards.....WKU hosts Tennessee at the same place (Sommet Center in Nashville, Tn.) The WKU--Tennessee game will be televised on ESPNU, btw.
  2. Both of these games....are in Nashville....and are billed as part of "The Sun Belt Classic." I guess our conference is hosting these. It's too bad...though...I thought WKU and MTSU, actually had these two opponents on their home courts.
  3. Over 300 kids attended. Here's some photos from www.meangreensports.com: http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1352884
  4. Times are central: Saturday, 6 p.m. --Memphis at Middle Tenn. State---ESPN 2 Saturday, 8 p.m.--Tennessee at Western Kentucky--ESPNU
  5. As has been rumored for years....Roger Clemens is supposedly one of the names.
  6. Sosa would have to be named, too. (He hit 66...the year that McGwire "broke" the record.)
  7. The only thing in our favor is that I doubt that the NCAA would ever decertify the ONLY bowl which the Sun Belt has a tie in to. And don't expect New Orleans to buy any tickets. They never do, and this year they have both the Sugar Bowl and BCS championship game in town. So this year, the NO Bowl is even uglier of a stepchild.
  8. Just like with Cincy....they have a basketball conflict. If they only bring 3,000...the NO Bowl might not draw 10,000. Scottie sent me this article: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/...0-bowl-tickets/
  9. Phil......you're one of the long-time posters around here......thanks for all you do for the program. Happy birthday, buddy. jm
  10. Coaches recruit different regions of the state. Not sure who recruits south Texas, where Atkinson is from. Atkinson is an O lineman, btw.
  11. Is he playing offensive tackle for them...or defensive tackle...or both? I was thinking he was a DT that we planned to move to offensive line.
  12. Scottie alerted me to this. I had never even looked at the Mean Green Insider. Anyway, it's free (at www.meangreensports.com---it's on the front page). Anyway, in the latest one....Hank and TD recap the 2007 season (along with some great highlights---including Casey Fitz's 99 yd. TD). But, they also do a lot of talking about recruiting. TD tells about how many he hopes to sign at each position. Also, TD tells Hank some of the selling points that he uses on perspective recruits and their parents. It's great. One more note: They mention that Cam M might get a medical redshirt.

  14. That's great. Way to go, Casey.....from walk-on to All American.......you make us all proud.

  16. Say what? I'm guessing the writer meant "heavily populated"??
  17. Personally, I hope the Movin' Mavs do great the rest of this year. More power to them. I hope they go to the Big Dance, which I don't think they've ever been to. (I know they were in the NIT back in the early 80's).
  18. Here's James' Rivals profile (along with two highlight videos on the page): http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.a...mp;pr_key=59193 Pretty good weekend....we picked up two 3 * players......
  19. (from the DRC.com blog): December 10, 2007 UNT appears to have landed Hamilton I have not talked to James Hamilton yet today, but it appears as if the Cedar Hill athlete who projects as a safety in college has decided to stay close to home and play for North Texas instead of committing to Kentucky. I heard Hamilton has made up his mind from a collegue who talked to his his high school coach today. Check back on the blog. If I get confirmation, I will post it as soon as I can.
  20. Grace Prep lost 42-41 to FW Western Hills (in the Arlington tourney last night). Anyway, Ben had 6 of the 41 points that GP scored.
  21. It's time for Justin Howerton's "Break Out" party. It's time to step up, big guy! GMG!
  22. (from the D-RC blog, courtesy of Brett Vito): North Texas senior center Keith Wooden underwent arthroscopic knee surgery following the Mean Green's loss to Texas this week and is out for today's game against Hartford. The good news is the surgery was performed to address some lingering problems in Wooden's right knee. He isn't expected to miss more than one game. UNT scheduled the surgery for this week because it has several days off for Wooden to recover. UNT won't play again until taking on Southern on the 17th. For more on Wooden, be sure to check out tomorrow's edition of the Denton Record-Chronicle.
  23. Khenon Hall. Check out his recruiting video. Some great hits: http://tcu.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=68599
  24. Mingo's a burner....4.4 in the 40: http://clemson.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=68595
  25. Gumm would be a heckuva pickup. He's pictured on page 167 of the 2007 DCTF. Here's part of his Rivals profile: http://tulsa.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=68598
