  1. Our team hasn't played a good game on the road this season. That needs to change.
  2. (This was on the dallasnews.com blog: http://colleges.beloblog.com/archives/2007...eive_for_c.html
  3. 29,000 tickets have been distributed....whatever that means. I imagine, for example....that 5,100 were distributed to FAU. Unfortunately, they've only sold 1200. So, just because 29,000 have been distributed...doesn't mean they've sold 29,000. Far from it, I suspect.
  4. What I suspect will happen is this: We will watch the game, and think to ourselves, "Man, there is nobody there." But the boxscore will claim that the crowd was 17,000 or more.
  5. I was at both games. I have a hard time believing there were 400 more people there on Monday....than tonight. I thought tonight's crowd was bigger than Monday's. (which they listed at 2200+).
  6. Hope all you want, but according to the article: "Fortunately for FAU, participating New Orleans Bowl teams are not required to purchase the unsold portion of their ticket allotment." I can't believe that the league and the bowl have that kind of agreement. When 8,000 fans are at his conference's only bowl game....maybe Wright Waters will get a clue.
  7. Tina's had 19 years to prove herself. And, I've probably seen 80 or more of her team's games over the years. So, I'm with you....on it being hard to get excited about another year of Slinker Ball. It's time for a change. I'd hire former UTA coach Donna Capps. She took them to two NCAA tournaments...and is now an assistant athletic director for the Mesquite school district.

  9. (This guy would be a huge signing. But, it's hard to tell how interested he might be in UNT. From the D-RC blog: It has been pretty quiet on the UNT hoops recruiting front this year. Johnny Jones and his staff signed just one player in the early period in power forward Ben Knox and have a long way to go before finishing their class. One of our high school writers -- Adam Boedeker -- spotted what appeared to be a member of the Mean Green's staff watching a player who would fit in nicely at UNT in Chris Babb. The 6-5 guard from Arlington Oakridge is ranked 10th among seniors in the Class of 2008 by Texashoops.com. Babb has visited Kansas State, but the Wildcats signed two shooting guards and two small forwards in their 2007 class. K-State already has a small forward committed for 2008. K-State has yet to offer Babb, but Mississippi, Oral Roberts and TCU have all offered scholarships. I wasn't there, so I don't know for sure that it was a member of UNT's staff watching Babb, but it would make sense. Babb would be a steal for UNT.
  10. IRVING – The Dallas Cowboys will match a team record Tuesday when 11 players are selected to play in the Pro Bowl, according to sources. The 11 players are offensive tackle Flozell Adams, running back Marion Barber, guard Leonard Davis, kicker Nick Folk, center Andre Gurode, safety Ken Hamlin, cornerback Terence Newman, wide receiver Terrell Owens, quarterback Tony Romo, linebacker DeMarcus Ware and tight end Jason Witten. Four Cowboys were picked as Pro Bowl alternates: linebacker Greg Ellis, safety Roy Williams, punter Mat McBriar and special teamer Keith Davis.
  11. The "fat cats" at WVU....aren't mad at Rich Rod. They're mad at the administration: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/07352/842541-144.stm
  12. Is there no common sense at these freaking schools any more? http://www.wftv.com/news/14858405/detail.html
  13. According to the DMNews blog, Todd Graham, the coach at Tulsa....will probably make the short list of candidates for the WVU job. I didn't know this, but Graham was an assistant under Rich Rodgriguez at WVU, in 2001 and 2002. And, he's still highly thought of, there at WVU. Graham's obviously a good coach. But, if left Tulsa....that would be back to back schools, that he bolted on, after just one year. My guess is that if Graham did leave Tulsa....they'd promote Gus Malzahn (sp?) to their head coaching position.
  14. How would you like to have one school (Michigan) come in and take your basketball coach (Beilein; after last season).....and now they've just hired the WVU football coach (Rich Rodriguez).
  15. It's the conference, Steve. Afterwards.....WKU hosts Tennessee at the same place (Sommet Center in Nashville, Tn.) The WKU--Tennessee game will be televised on ESPNU, btw.
  16. Both of these games....are in Nashville....and are billed as part of "The Sun Belt Classic." I guess our conference is hosting these. It's too bad...though...I thought WKU and MTSU, actually had these two opponents on their home courts.
  17. Over 300 kids attended. Here's some photos from www.meangreensports.com: http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1352884
  18. Times are central: Saturday, 6 p.m. --Memphis at Middle Tenn. State---ESPN 2 Saturday, 8 p.m.--Tennessee at Western Kentucky--ESPNU
  19. As has been rumored for years....Roger Clemens is supposedly one of the names.
  20. Sosa would have to be named, too. (He hit 66...the year that McGwire "broke" the record.)
  21. The only thing in our favor is that I doubt that the NCAA would ever decertify the ONLY bowl which the Sun Belt has a tie in to. And don't expect New Orleans to buy any tickets. They never do, and this year they have both the Sugar Bowl and BCS championship game in town. So this year, the NO Bowl is even uglier of a stepchild.
  22. Just like with Cincy....they have a basketball conflict. If they only bring 3,000...the NO Bowl might not draw 10,000. Scottie sent me this article: http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2007/...0-bowl-tickets/
  23. Phil......you're one of the long-time posters around here......thanks for all you do for the program. Happy birthday, buddy. jm
  24. Coaches recruit different regions of the state. Not sure who recruits south Texas, where Atkinson is from. Atkinson is an O lineman, btw.
  25. Is he playing offensive tackle for them...or defensive tackle...or both? I was thinking he was a DT that we planned to move to offensive line.
