Charlie....as far as the young guys on the O line....I think freshman redshirt Matt Tomlinson has a lot of potential. I really think he could be great.

All I need to know is that catie (from his MySpace page)....says to Tevinn: "you are all equator and sh!t." That's reason enough there....to sign him. You can have your All Americans. I'll take my chances with a guy who is All Equator (and sh!t.)

I would imagine the reason that thread got taken off the board, was that it was thought that it might hurt football recruiting. And, I can see that point. I think if Cooley had just started the exact same thread on the "secure" recruiting message board...it would have been left up. That's just my guess. And, I hate censorship, but I can understand it in this case. (Some of you may not realize the pressure that is put on Harry and others who run message boards, by our athletic department. Anyway.....Cooley please continue posting.

Nolan Dennis, had a triple double in a game against Southlake Carroll on Friday night. He had 10 points, 13 boards and 10 assists. Nolan is a very highly ranked recruit. I believe he's just a junior this year....there at Richland High. I'd love to have him follow big brother up to Denton. Anyway, a triple double in high school....is even more impressive than in college or the pros....since they just play four 8-minute quarters. (as opposed to 40 and 48 minute games in college and the NBA, respectively).

Brian is one of four finalists for the "NFL's Man of the Year" award. This award is given annually to someone who does a lot for their community (charity work, volunteering, etc.). The other finalists are: Hines Ward (Pittsburgh); Jason Witten (Cowboys); and Jason Taylor (Miami). Man, has Brian made us proud. In the past year he has: 1) bought 50 Cowboy season tickets to be given to area youth; 2) donated $46,000 to Habitat for Humanity; 3) given $25,000 to the Waxahachie (his hometown) Pee Wee Football league; 4) free football and basketball camps for 150 youth; 5) donated $250,000 for a church-building fund. The Award winner will be announced on Super Bowl Sunday. Thanks Brian for all you do....... GMG!

You could send teams to Florida...to play two games. But, that would require WW booting Denver from the league....which he should do, but won't. That's why we have this crappy scheduling...unbalanced number in our two divisions. (7 in one, 6 in the other). Anyway, I'm going to do a geneology check on you, Stevie....and see just how close of a relative Wright Waters is.

If ever a team needed an 8-day break, it is ours. (We don't play again, until a week from tomorrow---Sunday the 27th). Hopefully, that'll allow time for Josh to get over his concussion.....and time for everyone to finally shake the flu. Hank acted as if Keith was still battling the flu, with the way he described him. Anyway, this season is still very savageable....GMG!

I blame you. You're a freaking jinx. There.

First of all, in football...since we charter planes...I'm sure the cost would still be based on miles. (Now on other sports....you would be right). When we added FIU and FAU, I remember some of us bitching about adding two teams that far away. Well, Ark. State Fan, came on the board, and told us that, in hoops...we'd get two conference games when we went to Miami. I guess not, as the Belt has us going to FAU and FIU coming to Denton. Anyway, we're stuck in this league. I guess we might as well make the most of it.

If we can start rebounding better.....I think we'll all right. Not sure what the numbers were, but it sure seemed like they had more boards than us, in the first half. Thank you, Adam McCoy.

I'm personally already thinking about 2008. If guys, like you, want to keep obsessing on 2007, be my guest. The boogeyman (Mendoza) is gone. Can we leave that to rest? I guess not.

You're right about ULL. BTW...they didn't play Grambling this year. Are you thinking of the McNeese State game, which drew 33,000? Anyway...ULL drew 22,000 for Ohio and 33,000 for McNeese (games 2 and 3 on their schedule)...and then as Gray Eagle points out, once SBC play rolls around...their attendance goes in the crapper.

(Sorry, but I'm calling "bull$hit" on this. How would he have multiple personalities and no one else no about it? Yeah, I'm calling "bull$hit"....and will tell that to any of Herschel's personalities.): ATLANTA – Herschel Walker's college coach was surprised to learn the 1982 Heisman Trophy winner will reveal in an upcoming book he has multiple personalities. "That's all news to me," former Georgia coach Vince Dooley said. "All I know is whatever personality he had when he had the football was the one I liked." Breaking Free will chronicle the former Dallas Cowboys running back's life with multiple personality disorder, according to Shida Carr, the book's publicist at Simon & Schuster. Walker still lives in Dallas. Carr said the book will be published in August, but gave no other details and declined to provide excerpts. "There's some buzz out there and we're letting people know we have this book coming out," Carr told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. In three seasons at Georgia, Walker led the Bulldogs to a 33-3-1 record, three straight Southeastern Conference championships and the 1980 national title. He won the Heisman as a junior, then left school a year early to sign with the now-defunct U.S. Football League. Walker went onto play in the NFL for the Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. A former Georgia teammate also was caught off guard by Walker's revelation. "I'm probably one of his closest friends and that's news to me," said Frank Ros, who was captain of Georgia's 1980 national championship team. "I knew he was working on a book but I just thought it was about football. He does 100 things at once and always has projects going on, but that blows me away." The newspaper said Walker could not be reached for comment. Multiple personality disorder, also known as dissociative identity disorder, is a rare mental condition in which one person has two or more distinct personalities, according to the Merck Manual of Medical Information.

He was sitting at the bottom of section 107. He was there with a black gentleman, and they both stopped and said "Hi" to Mrs. JJ. Not sure who the black man was....and I have no clue who Del is working for...if anybody.

Yeah, but since the first game would be out there in Lubbock....what would prevent TTech from buying us out, and never coming to Denton the next year....anyway. After all, Air Force did that. We never got the return game from them. (We did get $250,000 though).

Former NBA head coach, and former Mavs assistant ...Del Harris was at the UNO game.

Hey buddy...the credit goes to Brett Vito, who mentioned him in the blog today. I had never heard of him until then.

That McFarland kid is a stud. He played at Evansville (Bosse).....before going to Bridgton Academy. Purdue really wanted this kid at one time.....not sure if they're still in on him. He would be a great signee.

More on Cardell McFarland....and it does look like we've offered him: http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p...amp;nid=3280501

(I'm not trying to doubt Brett, but I have a hard time believing that Colby Ray was ever on a b-ball scholarship. With his grandad (or whatever Bobby Ray is in relation to him)....he might have been on some kind of scholarship, but I don't think it was a b-ball one. For one thing, we had 13 guys on scholarship anyway. Anyway, here's Vito's blog: There was a good question posted on the blog today about the number of scholarships the UNT men's basketball team will have to give for its 2008 class. The NCAA limit for basketball scholarships at Division I schools is 13. UNT is using all 13 this season, although Arizona State transfer George Odufuwa, who is sitting out as a redshirt, is one of the 13 players on scholarship. In an interesting side note, Colby Ray was on a basketball scholarship, but came off the books in a shuffling of scholarships to open up a spot. Ray is now officially a student assistant coach. Anyway, UNT has four seniors -- Ben Bell, Keith Wooden, Dez Willingham, and Quincy Williams. Head coach Johnny Jones has already filled one of the four spots that will come open after this season by signing Arlington Grace Prep center Ben Knox during the early period. That leaves UNT with three scholarships. This is my guess of how UNT would like its class to look: 1. Arlington Grace Prep center Ben Knox, a 6-10 project UNT hopes will put on a ton of weight and turn into productive inside player along the lines of Wooden or Williams. This one looks like a bit of a risk. 2. Arlington Oakridge guard Chris Babb, a 6-5 guard who would be a monster in the Sun Belt. TCU has offered Babb, but has already signed two small forwards and has a commitment from a shooting guard for its 2008 class. Baylor has yet to offer, but is interested. Just a guess here, but UNT might get a boost in its pursuit of Babb if Freddie Riley, a shooting guard who is ranked 150th nationally, commits to Baylor. The Bears are favored to land the Ocala, Fla., Vanguard standout. Baylor has yet to pick up a shooting guard for 2008, but did land one in its 2007 class. If Baylor lands Riley, it could back off Babb, leaving UNT as the only Texas school on his list other than TCU. At that point, the Mean Green could sell Babb on being the hometown school that made him its No. 1 target. UNT has also offered Dallas Kimball guard Darian Thibodeaux, who wouldn't be a bad second choice. 3. Another point guard, UNT will lose the under appreciated Bell after this season. Josh White is already starting alongside Bell at the point and will be there for another three years, but UNT will need another ball-handler. Willingham can play the point, but is a senior on his way out. Collin Dennis can also play the point, but UNT will need him at the shooting guard spot, where he can score. UNT has been in contact with Cardell McFarland of North Bridgton Academy in Maine. 4. A junior college frontcourt player, One of the reasons UNT was so successful last season and has been on a tear lately this year is no one in the Sun Belt can match up with Wooden and Williams, not to mention all the other 6-7 to 6-10 athletes UNT brings off the bench. UNT will have Odufuwa ready to step in next year and Hogans is developing nicely, but the Mean Green needs an insurance policy. Odufuwa, Hogans, 6-10 senior center Justin Howerton and 6-8 senior forward Harold Stewart will be UNT's only veteran frontcourt players next year. Even with Knox in the bag, UNT would be about one injury away from being dangerously thin up front next year. Jones and his staff have found productive junior college big men in the past and could use another one for next season. That's my guess as to the mix of players UNT would like to have in its next recruiting class. Feel free to post your comments on the blog or better yet, post your dream class for UNT in 2008.

Since he's averaging almost 22 a game....it seems a pretty good bet that Mr. McCalebb will become the league's all-time leading scorer TONIGHT. (He'll be breaking a record set by a South Florida player, who played from '81-'85). Anyway, it'd be classy of us, to recognize this feat...if Bo does accomplish this tonight. I'd sure be willing to give this young man a standing O. Hopefully, if he does break the record...we'll announce it over the PA. (soon after it happens). Now, of course, if we were to hold him to 10 or less....that'd be even better.

From the DMNews blog, by Kate Hairopolous: The SMU football offices are buzzing these days as June Jones, only here since Tuesday, is trying to settle in. One of his biggest priorities is hiring a staff. Several coaches are already here with him from Hawaii: *Dennis McKnight, offensive line and special teams *Wes Suan, running backs *Dan Morrison, quarterbacks (father-in-law of former SMU and Cowboys player Donald Mitchell) Jeff Reinebold, who coached the defensive line at Hawaii, is expected to arrive this weekend. Jones is also bringing in Bert Hill, a former assistant with the Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins. The most high-profile opening is that of defensive coordinator. Jones wanted Greg McMackin to come with him from Hawaii, but McMackin was hired as the Warriors’ head coach today. Jones said he’s discussing the position with three candidates and should make a decision by early next week. Jones is scheduled to have his first meeting with the team this afternoon, and he’ll be announced during the first half of the men’s basketball team’s game tonight against Houston.

This is from the DmNews blog, written by Damon Sayles: It's a luxury for a boys basketball team to have a 6-5 all-everything player, someone who can dribble, shoot, pass, rebound, coach, run the scoreboard, sell candy ... you get the idea. Arlington Oakridge has that player, Chris Babb, and he delivered in a 52-39 win against Cistercian on Tuesday. Babb scored 32 points in the win but showed just how dominant he can be with a strong fourth-quarter showing. He scored 16 points in the final quarter and helped Oakridge turn a four-point advantage into a double-digit victory. Babb is getting looks from several schools - Baylor, Iota State, North Texas, Bradley and Hawaii to name a few. Following Tuesday's game, he said he went on an unofficial visit to Baylor on Monday and is expecting to make a decision at the end of the season. (I'm guessing that Damon meant Iowa State...I pasted it....the way he wrote it).

I think we're better, but I think the league's better, too. And you've got to remember....we had some luck along the way last year. We eliminated conference tourney host (ULL) in the first round in Denton. Then, we beat ULM...IN OVERTIME. After that, we beat MTSU and Ark. State. We never had to play the two best teams in the SBC tourney...WKU and S. Bama. So, even though we might be better......and I think we are....to say that we're a tournament team (right now)....is going out on more of a limb than I would.
