  2. Then even if we sign him...could we still lose him to the major league baseball draft in June???
  3. I agree with Emmitt. But on one thing....the "Welcome To The Pit!" which you all are trying to bring back. I love that. But, please note, that originally that chant was only yelled toward the end of the game, when we had the game in hand. It was never yelled during the first half...only when we had the game won..... sumg
  4. I drove by the stadium, and there were two buses of recruits, some parents of recruits, some Eagle Angels and UNT football coaches. So how many actual players that represents...I have no idea. Plus, it's possible that some of the recruits are guys who have already committed to us. Anyway, there are some recruits in town.
  5. If my memory is right.....the game is at 3:00 on The Deuce.
  6. There is a women's b-ball game that night. That may make the Athletics Department people start this, and get it over with early.
  7. Good luck to Coach Mendoza.
  8. I saw that. Well so much for him going to a brainiac school like Vanderbilt. I thought that was the reason he de-commited on us...was so that he could go get a "better" education at one of the nation's top academic schools. A & M doesn't fit that bill.
  9. After thinking about it, I think you're right, GreenJoseph. I think that OSU would still have to allot each visiting team "x" number of single game tickets.
  10. (from the DMN blog. Maybe we can make FIU fans buy our season tickets to see the FIU game at Fouts): Oklahoma football fans wanting to watch the Bedlam rivalry against Oklahoma State next season in Stillwater will have to purchase 2008 OSU season tickets for $419. OSU officials announced season ticket prices Tuesday for its seven home games in 2008 and also said that the school won’t be selling individual tickets for the OU game Nov. 29 at Boone Pickens Stadium. Fans wanting to see the OU-OSU game must purchase $419 OSU season tickets. There will be no single-game tickets available for the Bedlam game on Thanksgiving weekend. According to a school statement Tuesday, OSU is making a concerted effort to increase season ticket sales. Iowa State implemented an identical plan last season for its rival game against Iowa and saw a 30 percent increase in season ticket holders. “Our decision to eliminate single-game tickets for Bedlam is based upon our desire to grow our season-ticket sales,” OSU athletic director Mike Holder said in a statement. “Our ability to compete for championships, in all sports, is dependent upon our fans’ commitment to buying season tickets in football and basketball on an annual basis. Frankly, this decision is all about the long-term success of OSU Athletics. Based on solid results at Iowa State, we believe this decision can produce a positive result at OSU.”
  11. There's about as many fans in it right now...as there will be on game days.
  12. (from meangreensports.com): DENTON (1/29/08) - The game time for the North Texas women's basketball game versus Florida International on Saturday, Feb. 2 has been moved up to 4:35 pm due to television purposes. The Mean Green's game was orginally slated for 5 pm. The men's game will follow at 7:05 pm. Both games will be aired on ESPN Regional.
  13. The highlight of the season to me, has been the growth of The Pit Crew. Y'all have been exceptional this season. This alum salutes you!
  14. I would second the motion on Sykes. I think he will be a good backup...at DE. Also, what about Kyle Russo? I think he'll be in the mix, as well. And at DB...you can't count out Antoine Bush...after all, coaches just voted him our best DB last year.
  15. I'm certainly not trying to tell the church what to do. But, if a few of those sick, elderly tenants were to "accidentally" fall down a flight of stairs (or two)...it would go a long way toward getting the point across, that you mean business. It's just a suggestion. Yours in Christ, SUMG
  16. I think part of the problem is this. While we're in a big market (D-FW) and are used to top notch journalists (TV and papers)....the D-RC is still the minor leagues. So, whatever we get there....as the D-RC beat reporter...is going to be someone who is just starting out in their careers. I think Brett does a pretty good job. He's no Timmy MacMahon...but, he's not bad.
  17. These folks got their notices.....before Christmas. They don't have to be out until February 29......that's over 60 days.
  18. You act as if you want the man (Vito) to be non-objective. That's what our sports information department, is for. And since you looked up the word "tact" in the dictionary...maybe gander over at the "p's" and check out the definition of the word "potential." Trust me, the LSU game is a "potential" beat down.
  19. (Thoughts by Brett Vito): January 28, 2008 UNT-LSU game I did a little asking around today about the status of the UNT-LSU football game next season. Take it for what it's worth, but an LSU official said that the school is trying to set up a home-and-home series with a BCS conference opponent beginning next season. The official said LSU might have to move a game to make room for the new series on its schedule, but at this point it does not plan on moving the UNT game. UNT athletic director Rick Villarreal said the school is still working on moving a few games around and will not have its schedule finalized for a few weeks. It should be interesting to see how UNT's schedule shapes up, but at this point, a couple of scenarios seem possible. The UNT-LSU game is moved back to later in the season to accommodate an LSU game against a BCS opponent or UNT heads to Baton Rouge for a big payday and a potential beat down at the hands of the defending national champion to open the season. UNT will host Tulsa on Sept. 6 and play at Kansas State on Sept. 27 in two other non-conference games. Both Tulsa and KSU have released their schedules.
  20. That's always quite an elite group....the Parade All Americans. Anyway, the reason I ask, is that Riley Dodge was named to the Parade All American team.
  21. Last night, at the football banquet....they mentioned that, even though it is not fully planned yet....there will be an Signing Date event put on by Athletics. I believe they said that it would be in the evening.....and that it would be open to the public. Anyway, they said to watch the official site for more details. Also, it's pretty neat to know that we had 17 freshmen football players, make the Academic Honor roll this past semester. Very impressive.
  22. I get the feeling that the tennis team is about to become one of our better teams: http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1376449
  23. Coach JJ is a great guy, and a good recruiter. But on gameday, he is what he is.....a .500 coach. He's been coaching for 8 years now, and is I think now 2-3 game over .500. Get used to it.
  24. Nice 3 by Dez. I sure don't get taking our final timeout there.......
  25. WTH?
