Horton's not showing up on Kansas State's list.....so that makes me feel a little better (since they were the school we beat, for his commitment).
-
So...are the only ones that are still out: Troy Franklin Alonzo Horton Gabe Hollivay Royce Hill Is that it?
-
Troy Franklin's dad has been on the board here, quite a bit this morning. I wouldn't think he'd be on here, if Troy was going to sign elsewhere.
-
Nate Jenkins, the huge OL from Pearl River CC....just signed.
-
He's no longer listed on Rivals list of Tulsa recruits.

Here's the current Rivals UNT commitment page: http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/commi...&School=163

Rivals is saying that John Shorter switched back to NT....and signed a LOI. I hope that's true.

Today, Brett has a signing day article, in which he goes on and on, about how the only reason why Riley Dodge sign (ed) with UNT....is to play for his father. First of all, we all know that. But, I think to over emphasize that is crap. Here's an excerpt.....see what you think: With national signing day finally here, North Texas is on the verge of landing nationally ranked athlete Riley Dodge, which begs the question: Is UNT landing its best recruit of the last decade because he wants to play for his father? The question really has two parts. Dodge will sign with the Mean Green today to play for his father Todd Dodge, who became a high school football legend at Southlake Carroll before taking over UNT’s program a little more than a year ago. Riley Dodge made it clear when he committed to play for the Mean Green last July that he was signing with UNT to play for his father.

All I will say is: How many Rivals stars was Casey Fitzgerald when he came out of high school?
-
But, if you look at this list, which my friend untcampbell...posted on the story about the Nate Jenkins commitment....this list ranks Hollivay ahead of both Nate Jenkins and Alonzo Horton. (our two other Miss. juco commitments): http://www.sunherald.com/sports/story/324090-p2.html

A Few Things We Desperately Need To Change
SUMG replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I agree with Emmitt. But on one thing....the "Welcome To The Pit!" which you all are trying to bring back. I love that. But, please note, that originally that chant was only yelled toward the end of the game, when we had the game in hand. It was never yelled during the first half...only when we had the game won..... sumg -
I drove by the stadium, and there were two buses of recruits, some parents of recruits, some Eagle Angels and UNT football coaches. So how many actual players that represents...I have no idea. Plus, it's possible that some of the recruits are guys who have already committed to us. Anyway, there are some recruits in town.
-
If my memory is right.....the game is at 3:00 on The Deuce.
-
There is a women's b-ball game that night. That may make the Athletics Department people start this, and get it over with early.
-
Good luck to Coach Mendoza.
-
I saw that. Well so much for him going to a brainiac school like Vanderbilt. I thought that was the reason he de-commited on us...was so that he could go get a "better" education at one of the nation's top academic schools. A & M doesn't fit that bill.

After thinking about it, I think you're right, GreenJoseph. I think that OSU would still have to allot each visiting team "x" number of single game tickets.

(from the DMN blog. Maybe we can make FIU fans buy our season tickets to see the FIU game at Fouts): Oklahoma football fans wanting to watch the Bedlam rivalry against Oklahoma State next season in Stillwater will have to purchase 2008 OSU season tickets for $419. OSU officials announced season ticket prices Tuesday for its seven home games in 2008 and also said that the school won’t be selling individual tickets for the OU game Nov. 29 at Boone Pickens Stadium. Fans wanting to see the OU-OSU game must purchase $419 OSU season tickets. There will be no single-game tickets available for the Bedlam game on Thanksgiving weekend. According to a school statement Tuesday, OSU is making a concerted effort to increase season ticket sales. Iowa State implemented an identical plan last season for its rival game against Iowa and saw a 30 percent increase in season ticket holders. “Our decision to eliminate single-game tickets for Bedlam is based upon our desire to grow our season-ticket sales,” OSU athletic director Mike Holder said in a statement. “Our ability to compete for championships, in all sports, is dependent upon our fans’ commitment to buying season tickets in football and basketball on an annual basis. Frankly, this decision is all about the long-term success of OSU Athletics. Based on solid results at Iowa State, we believe this decision can produce a positive result at OSU.”

There's about as many fans in it right now...as there will be on game days.

(from meangreensports.com): DENTON (1/29/08) - The game time for the North Texas women's basketball game versus Florida International on Saturday, Feb. 2 has been moved up to 4:35 pm due to television purposes. The Mean Green's game was orginally slated for 5 pm. The men's game will follow at 7:05 pm. Both games will be aired on ESPN Regional.

The highlight of the season to me, has been the growth of The Pit Crew. Y'all have been exceptional this season. This alum salutes you!

I would second the motion on Sykes. I think he will be a good backup...at DE. Also, what about Kyle Russo? I think he'll be in the mix, as well. And at DB...you can't count out Antoine Bush...after all, coaches just voted him our best DB last year.
