  1. Today's DMN notes that SMU and Baylor have agreed to a 6-game football series starting in 2011. Three will be played in Waco; three in Dallas. How come I get the feeling that this will preclude any chance of us getting a long-term series with SMU, as had been rumored? I really don't see the Ponies playing TCU, Baylor and us.....every year for several years in a row. I think Phil Bennett was our best friend down there....he wanted to play us. I think now that he's gone.....the snobs are back to being snobs. Just a guess though.
  2. I'm not sure that would be a great gauge...since you would have been playing Va. Tech....the season after their national tragedy.
  3. (from the DMNews sports blog): TexasHoops.com recently released its pre-summer state player rankings for the classes of 2009 and 2010. Duncanville's potential starting five for the 2008-09 season is high on the lists. Guard/forward Shawn Williams (6-7, 215) is ranked No. 2, and forward Roger Franklin (6-6, 217) is ranked No. 6 among the 2009 list. Guard Reger Dowell (6-1, 170), who has orally committed to play for Alabama, is ranked No. 12. Forward Julian Washburn (6-7, 200) is ranked No. 1 on the 2010 list. Guard Jamison Sterns (5-11, 200), who has committed to Baylor, is ranked No. 6. In case anyone's wondering, Round Rock's John Henson, a North Carolina commit, is the No. 1 player in the Class of 2009. AREA PLAYERS IN THE TOP 20 CLASS OF 2009 2. Shawn Williams, F, Duncanville 3. 4. Tony....from what I read he's in the 2008 class....and didn't sign last February (4 months ago). Last summer, we signed two late signees, when we signed Evyn Roman (juco) and Jacob Kaiser (high schooler from Penn.).
  5. Should they have been arrested? No. Should there be a little more decorum at graduation ceremonies? Hell yes. I drove by the last time UNT had graduation, and people were taking in signs to salute the grad that they were there to see. It's a freaking graduation...not American Idol. Just my two cents.....
  6. I bought one of these (the big sized) tumblers at Bed, Bath and Beyond in Denton today: http://www.tervis.com/store/retail/product...D=535&CID=5
  7. I agree with you, for the most part. However, there is no way that I'd want us to have the kind of deal that ULM has with Arkansas.
  8. Mr. McKay had many great moments as a sportscaster. None however, topped his brilliance in covering the 1972 Olympics, where he went from sportscaster to newscaster. He was a great one.

  10. If FFR had been at that game with Jennie pitching....the fire would have been caused by "pants friction."
  11. I realize that Tulsa may be decreasing their stadium size (to 26,000?)...but that isn't preventing OU from playing there in 2014. It's a part of a three game series, with games in Norman in 2013 and 2015. Texas will go to Wyoming and play in that 32,000 seat stadium, and now OU agrees to this. FWIW.
  12. Note to Self: Get some watermelon seeds. Move to Japan. http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/080606/odd_japan_p...melon.html?.v=1
  13. A reporter on Channel 11...said that there was a national softball tournament being held out at the park.....and they had a FIREWORKS show tonight. What kind of morons think a fireworks show is a good idea with 40+ mph winds in the area? Anyway, the early word is that they suspect that the fireworks caused the grass fire.
  14. Congrats on your upgrades. And if you all need any expertise in the area of waterless urinals....man, did you come to the right board. Finally, we all YEARN for the day, when there's a webcam set up, showing the progress on our new stadium. May it happen soon.
  15. I haven't found confirmation (on the net) of this yet...but: Channel 8 news (at 5) reported that the Amon Carter Foundation is giving TCU $15 million to renovate the football stadium. I know $15 million isn't a huge amount...compared to what UT and A $ M do, when they renovate...but man would I love for us to have $15 million to work with. GMG!

  17. If Notre Dame hired RV....I predict that the Jesus statue would stop signaling a "touchdown"....and would immediately start flipping the bird.
  18. I'm proud of this young man. Good luck to him and his family: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...0.41ba0757.html
  19. I do know that I gave the Mean Green Club a donation of $5,000 last year. What did you give, superstar? And for that $5,000...I didn't receive one of the benefits that I was promised. When I brought it up to the AD...he twice (via e-mail) promised to "make it up to me." That was 7 months ago....he hasn't "made up" anything. And so, I lowered my donation for this season (to $1500). WWRVD? Not much. Oh, and I let that one slide. But the next time I get F'd over by him and his Athletic Department....I'll request a visit with Dr. Bataille.
  20. Only at North Texas...is an inefficient Athletic Department....absolutely not the fault of the leader. None at all. But, he should get the credit for everything good that has happened. Maybe at a game next year, you can touch his clothing as he walks by. It might cure the brain tumor that you obviously have.
  21. First of all, RV had nothing to do with Mattress Mac's donation. (MM was Darrell Dickey's boy). That donation was the one, remember that allowed the athletic center to be finished. Oh, that and the bailout from the BOR, because your hero couldn't even raise $6.7 million. Yet, you bring up the thing again and again, about how RV had plans to raise $90 million for Athletics. But somehow when it came to nut crunching time...he couldn't even raise $6.7 million. Also, from what I understand...Mr.Waranch contacted the school wanting to make a donation. The school, referred him to Athletics...where they then cultivated him and he made his donation for the tennis facility. Anyway, this was supposed to be a thread about TSU...which you decided to turn into a RV suckoff. Call me an ingrate, but I don't worship him like you and countless others do.
  22. Sounds to me like a lot of these plans of yours, are the responsibility of the Athletic Director. Maybe the next time he has a Quarterly Meeting you can ask him how things are progressing. Speaking of crickets........
  23. That wouldn't surprise me. Coach Price is 4th in the pecking order of men's b-ball coaches at UNT. I'm sure that if Lamar offers him a #1 assistant position, it would be better for him than being our lowest paid assistant.
  24. Just to let you know, there's some wacky sh!t happening in Ft. Worth, too: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...h.1fa236a5.html
  25. Oddly enough...the city of Denton just ended its' experiment with bio-diesel: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...4.facf3d01.html
