  1. No one, is doubting the qualifications of any of these inductees. But, I do agree with drex. I think the class should have had more variety...when it comes to different eras. We have no players going in from the 60s, 70s, 80s or 90s. We have three that graduated in the 2000s and one that graduated in the 50s. And btw...I loved what Brad Kassell did at NT. But there is no way, that he was the player here that NG Walter Chapman was. Walter was every bit as good as Booger Kennedy. Both very similar in that they were short DLinemen...but very quick.
  2. Drex is allowing me to look at some old media guides...including the one from 1968 (Joe Greene's senior season). This is a pretty decent schedule: (games are in order of when they happened) NMSU---home @Colorado State Memphis State---home Northern Michigan--home @ Tulsa----game on TV according to the media guide @Arkansas Cincinnati---homecoming @ UTEP @ Louisville @ Wichita State Teams only played 10 regular season games back then. Oh, and of that schedule the conference games were: Memphis State; Tulsa; Cincinnati; Louisville and Wichita State. Pretty interesting reading. Thanks, drex.
  3. I always loved the "Seinfeld"....where Elaine leaves a boyfriend, because he didn't use an exclamation point in a note that he wrote.
  4. I was going to mock this....but in looking at it...it's pretty cool. I wish our coaches blogged like this. The only thing I'll say is Coach Doh! (good nickname)....anyway he sure likes exclamation points: http://smumustangs.cstv.com/hoopsblog/
  5. Yeah. Ben's dad is a nice guy...owns a pizza place here in Argyle. Our coaches talked to Ben, but I don't think we ever offered him. He originally committed to Wyoming....before taking a late offer from Baylor.
  6. (from the Dallas Morning News high school blog: It wasn't quite Plano East-Tyler John Tyler of '94, but the North recovered two onside kicks and scored three times in the final three minutes to win a wild THSCA all-star game, 16-15. Riley Dodge connected with former Highland Park receiver Seth Gardner to get the North on the board. Then, after a recovered onside kick, Braden Smith threw to former Lubbock Estacado receiver Jeremy Watson. The two-point conversion failed, leaving the score 15-13 South, but then the North recovered a second onside kick. Former Argyle kicker Ben Parks nailed a 41-yard field goal to put the North up, 16-15. Parks also made the saving tackle on D.J. Monroe's long kickoff return that followed. The South's attempt at a 45-yard field goal in the final seconds was blocked. The North's winning field goal was set up by a pass from Dodge to Gardner that got the team in field-goal range. A nice final memory for Gardner, who will play baseball at Arkansas.
  7. I'm beginning to think we should have tried to sign this kid. From what I understand, we weren't interested...and he signed with Northwestern State (La.). Anyway, last night Cory scored 23 in the Texas High School Coaches Association All Star Game. Plus, he won the half-time dunk contest/
  8. There is both a Fox Sports Southwest and a Fox Sports Houston. So, it's possible that it's delayed on Fox Sports Houston, but will shown live tonight on Fox Sports Southwest (down there in Houston). I get both of those channels on DirecTV...and it sounds like you do too, Lifer...since you said you had channel 676 (FSSW). They just changed them on DirecTV. FSSW is now channel 676 (used to be channel 643)...and I think Fox Sports Houston (as I recall) is channel 678.
  9. I think all of your answers are great. I would just suggest one addition: Since sports is the public face of the university....success in Athletics, indirectly increases the value of ones' degree. They may not realize that now, but they will when they get out into "the real world".
  10. Fox Sports Southwest.... Do you have DirecTV? I think they just moved FSSW to channel 676. It used to be 643 on that system.
  11. Has there ever been a stadium made out of Legos? Because that's where we're headed......here at Po But Proud State.

  14. I think that must be Desmond Brigham....from Caddo Mills.
  15. Oh yeah? Well, those Dos Equis commercials about the most interesting man in the world...those are based on me. Stay thirsty, my friends.
  16. Oh, I know we don't have time to go at it 100%...as overhauls like that, have to happen in the spring. I guess my question should be: Might we use the 3-4 in some situations? But, you're probably right....since we have everyone learning DeloachBall, that probably is out of the question, too.
  17. Cerebus, are all the players that we expected to be there...on the roster? Hollivay? Jenkins? Question to ask the coaches: Because of the lack of depth at d-line...any chance that we might go with a 3-4 this year?

  19. Brett Vito told me that he will be putting a practice schedule in the paper this week. I wish TD would let us fans see the first scrimmage, but I imagine, that just like last year....fall scrimmages will be closed (except to parents of players).
  20. Hey Jeff...if that's all the money taken in...how do we make up the difference in that amount and what our budget was that year? Because I'm sure it was a lot more than $10.6 million. I'm guessing the budget was $14-15 million that year. Just wondering......

  24. From what I understand, this is not prostate cancer (which Coach Fry dealt with earlier in life). But, it is something very serious. Hopefully Coach Fry can conquer this dilemma, as well.
  25. This is the first time I've heard 2011 thrown around: http://www.dentonrc.com/sharedcontent/dws/...5.8b600515.html
