  1. I had the pleasure of being his campaign manager in my East Texas county....when he ran for Governor. He came to Texarkana....for a campaign event. I got to introduce him...and spend a few minutes alone with him. Just a great guy. Anyway probably 5-6 years later....he was at Dan's Silverleaf in Denton. I went to watch him perform. I went up to him beforehand....re-introduced myself. And I asked him...if he'd sing "Sold American" (my favorite song of his). Not only did he do it....he dedicated it to me....for helping him in his campaign. Truly....a one of a kind.
  2. Nice. I hope TBT Live.....will also mean ESPN+.
  3. I hope so. This current path, of us trying to "keep up with the Joneses".....isn't sustainable.
  4. Yes....several. 2018--29,519 2022-25,306 2016---24,718.....didn't look at 2020--covid year. As to what you said about the NT grad who did such a great job promoting back '89-90 (and other years)....I totally agree.
  5. For men's basketball, I personally have no problem with us doing home and homes with Div. I Texas schools like ACU, SHSU, SFA, Texas State. SHSU and Texas State were opponents of ours....in 2 of our NIT years. SFA won an NCAA tournament game way before we did. And the year we beat Purdue......ACU beat Texas. So....if we're looking down our noses at schools like that.....no wonder we can't get things scheduled. What I don't understand....are some of the places that we go to.....without getting a return game....like Boise State and St. Mary's. We've gone to Boise twice with no return (last year....and one year I think the JJ era)
  6. The coaches also talked about the importance of team bonding this time of year. Especially with so many new guys. Coach Morris said....they've divided up into teams (not sure how many) and are having all kinds of competitions this summer. He said they'd play basketball soon. And mentioned laser tag. And a few other competitions. Coach Hodge went on and on about how great of a teammate Matt Stone is. How much Matt loves UNT. He said that they took the entire team up to Matt's grandparents ranch in Oklahoma (289 acres). And that the guys got to go 4-wheeling and do other things like that.
  7. Well done. Loved the place they had it. Had a great free food spread. Everyone got two free drink tickets. Super impressed by some of the fundraising numbers that Jared gave. They have raised several million toward the new Ath. Center. And he said we've now gone over 2,000 individual donors. (trust me that's great for us). All three coaches (Burton, Hodge and Morris) spoke and gave glowing reports of how summer workouts are going. A few tidbits that I picked up on my own: 1) The women's hoops schedule is almost complete....the men's is still far from complete. I did ask.....we're not getting a return game from Boise State. 2) I told Jared the importance of having game programs (football) and at least roster lists (basketball)....since we have so much turnover. He said that they would make sure they have those. 3) There was something on slide that Jared had on the screen.....about some new licensing for Mean Green beer and liquor. Not sure what that meant....but it intrigued me. 4) So much turnover....that Coach Hodge noted that of top 15 players on the AAC All Conference list (basketball)......only two were with their original team. 5) Just like last season....the Coach Morris radio show.....will be on Thursday nights. A great event. I'm old and don't hear well....so others who were there......and who picked up on other stuff....feel free to add to this.
  8. Thanks for the clarification. That's much more reasonable.
  9. And let me just predict......those extra 4-8 teams will all be from the P6 conferences. And the future tournaments will have even more P6 teams, that didn't even finish .500 in conference play.
  10. I never understand why folks covet being in a league with them. Don't give me the Academics stuff. Academics mean nothing in the scheme of things......any more. Their facilities suck. And they travel worse than any school in the nation. Of all the times we've played them in basketball.....I don't think I've ever seen a fan of theirs at the Pit. They bring nobody to Denton for football or basketball. And didn't look like other than cheerleaders, they took anyone to FW for the hoops tourney. And yet.....when there are new conference configurations put together.....some times they're included...and we're not. Boggles the mind.
  11. I wish someone who has season tickets in 104-106.....would tell us what the price is expected to be this year....as opposed to last year. I am assuming it's $415 per seat....plus the per seat MGSF donation ($200-250?). Wrong? Seems like a big increase from last year.....but am not sure. Just wondering. They priced me out of the Club last year.....so it happens.
  12. Just curious....do you get season tickets?
  13. One other thing about season tickets. You pay the money and the MGSF donation to be in your particular section. Then the season rolls around....and you see all kinds of visiting team fans sitting in those same sections. And you know damn well.....they didn't pay a MGSF donation....they just bought their tickets and paid for game ticket only.
  14. So it's $415 per seat..........plus $200 (or whatever) to the MGSF per seat. Am I wrong on this? That's pretty pricey...if so.
  15. Glad to see Kai Huntsberry and Tyree Eady participating this year.
  16. Since it's an ESPN event.....and Disney owns ABC/ESPN....I would think that's a pretty good bet.
  17. St. Bonaventure went 20-13 last year. UNI went 19-14. Utah State was 28-7....beating TCU in the NCAA tourney, then losing to Purdue.
  18. Nov. 27-29 is the Wed-Fri of Thanksgiving Week, btw.
  19. Not sure if the two games would be pre-determined. Or if first games would be set....with the winners and losers playing the next night. I had assumed we would be doing a return game with Northern Iowa....but this may preclude that? Not sure.
  20. It's hard to find earnings figures from the LIV Tour. But I found a site that had earnings. And not sure what time it ended at.....but it was before the Houston tourney. And at whatever point that was.....Sebastian Munoz had already earned $13,216,411.....while Carlos had earned $17,232,211. (these would be numbers from since the tour started). Carlos is now over $21 million....at the least.
  21. Some info here. Might contact the company to see what stores they'll be in. I believe it said...the 14th of June....is when they're available. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/golf/limited-edition-callaway-drops-paradym-ai-smoke-max-triple-diamond-tactical-drivers/ar-BB1nGLwU?ocid=BingNewsSerp
  22. Agree with that. We'll never know what our record would be.....if we didn't pay any NIL money....versus if we do. NIL money doesn't guarantee success. I guess it might....at an already established power like Georgia or Michigan. But, they're gonna win no matter what the system. A & M was spending millions on NIL....when Jimbo went 4-8 (in his next to last season?) Who do you think had more NIL money last season....Auburn or New Mexico State? NMSU beat them by 21. So yeah....I too wish we'd stop wasting money on NIL.
