Not sure if he will be a Div. I player...but he must be pretty good if he might start as a sophomore: http://drchighschoolblog.dentonrc.com/arch...uarterback.html

If anyone attends practice....here are some of the new players numbers. You have to guess since the Ath. Dept. hasn't updated the roster on the official site: John Shorter---18 Desmond Brigham---1 Kenny Barrett--81 Forrest Rucker---89 Nate Jenkins---79 Gabe Hollivay---69 Brandon Akpunku---47 I hope I'm right on those...... Rucker is going to be really fun to watch. With him and Sam Roberson we have really tall and athletic WRs.

Greetings From Sydney!

If you're down there to see The Summer Olympics....I've got some really bad news for you. -
These this week are at Fouts...so get out there while you can.

That would be James Roderick...I think was his name. He played under Parker.....but was so big that he got very little playing time. Wasn't here but a year or two. The story was that they had to take him to a grain elevator to weigh him....regular scales didn't go that high. BTW....it's mentioned in the blog that B Jax is in an NFL camp. I thought he got cut by SD........did someone else pick him up?

I think you're wrong, buddy. All practices were open last year. The only things that were off limits were the fall scrimmages. Tonight I was at the practice...as were several others. We'll see if scrimmages are closed again this fall. Spring scrimmages are open, it's just the fall ones where TD kept folks out.

So you've gotten to see the stadium plans?
-
I guess there's a method to the madness...but to me keeping these stadium plans so secretive is beyond ridiculous. I hate to tell you, but there wouldn't even be UNT football, if it hadn't been for the efforts of some of us alums back in 1982...when Hurley considered dropping football altogether. Also, if it wasn't for the combined efforts of alums and students in 1994...we would have never met the NCAA attendance requirement and would have still been Division I-AA (or FCS). If you think showing the stadium plans ONLY to student government people, dorm directors and occasional fatcats....and leaving most of the rest of us in the dark...then that's obviously what you (the Athletic Department) thinks is the best way to do things. But, I think you have no idea how many pissed off alums (who have saved this school in the past--see above examples) you have. And if and when you finally get some funding....and then finally come to the rest of us to help pitch in---I think the amounts you're going to receive aren't going to be what they would have been---had all of us been made a part of this project from the start. Just my two cents.

Favre Reinstated
SUMG replied to UNTflyer's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Favre (pronounced FAV-ruh) keeps thinking they will make a sequel to "There's Something About Mary"...so that he can resume his lucrative acting career. -
No truth to the rumor that the Opera House will have an indoor track around the stage.

Best Place To Get A Good Meal Before/after A Game?
SUMG replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I second that motion. Central Grill is great. And the meal was even better since I enjoyed it with three great UNT fans. -
Here's a picture of Cory winning the slam dunk competition: http://drchighschoolblog.dentonrc.com/108-...ffiliate.58.jpg

I'm going with three other posters from this board. But we're not gonna eat out there. After last year's cluster####...we've decided to eat at a restaurant, before heading over to the "cookout".

(from the DMNews college sports blog: Josh Jarboe has run out of second chances, at least at Oklahoma. The Georgia product, considered one of the top wide receiver recruits in the country, has been dismissed from the Sooners, coach Bob Stoops announced today. Jarboe came to Oklahoma under a cloud of controversy. He had pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of bringing a gun to the parking lot of Cedar Grove (Ga.) High School and received two years' probation. Jaboe had originally faced felony charges. Then in a short amateur video that recently found its way to YouTube, Jarboe freestyle raps about guns and the shoot-em-up video game Halo while using some over-the-top language. "We are disappointed in this outcome, but our complete review and this final decision is in the best interest of our program" said Stoops, who reportedly met with Jarboe this morning according to the Tulsa World. "We outlined for Josh the expectations we had for him when he arrived and, unfortunately, those expectations have not been met. Josh needs to learn from this experience. We hope he can move forward in a positive manner."

Yeah....I think he was one of Simon's recruits. If I'm not mistaken, his dad is a big sportswriter down in Beaumont/Port Arthur. And his dad, often writes glowingly about TDodge. (I think Deep Green has posted some of his articles on here).

I've got a copy of the spring roster in my hand...Draylen Ross #92 is on it. I'm sorry I don't know how to prove it---you'll just have to take my word for it. As to him being here this fall...I met Draylen at Chicken Express in June. He's a nice young man. I asked him about his grades...he told me he was doing great. Plus, he was on the field a few weeks (according to BVito) when our guys were doing voluntary 7-on-7 drills. Does that sound like someone who thinks he's not going to be around? So am I 100% sure he'll be here practicing next week? No. But, it looks likely that he will.

Draylen Ross was on the spring roster. And, I'm pretty sure he will be here this fall. As a matter of fact, he wears Booger's old number.

Proposed Return Of Baseball Program May Start By 2010
SUMG replied to GabeGMG's topic in Mean Green Athletics
Matt...I'm just mainly giving my friend KRAM a hard time. If folks like soccer that is fine by me. And I have given it a chance---it just doesn't do much for me. -
Proposed Return Of Baseball Program May Start By 2010
SUMG replied to GabeGMG's topic in Mean Green Athletics
In my lifetime, I've endured probably 10 separate movements, where soccer nuts told us that their sport was the sport of the future here in America. It never happens. We have just seen how quickly Americans have gotten over Beckham......that furor lasted about 10 minutes. Thank God Americans recognize this sport for the borefest that it is. -

I think Cantly may be a good candidate for being redshirted....since I think he (right now) is a bit of a project. I think his upside is very high; but as I recall he hasn't played that many years of high school football. I think of the freshmen D linemen...Joe Hawthorne may be a little ahead of Cantly.....as far as skills go. But Cantly definitely has the edge in size (291 versus 250). I'll also be interested in seeing if the juco o-linemen (Hollivay, Jenkins) can crack the starting o line. Also, can Tomlinson and Kaiser (now in their second years) contribute. Finally, my favorite lineman (on film) last February was Coleman Feeley. I think he's gonna be awesome.

I don't know about Northern Michigan. I do know that we were Division I back then (the highest level---now FBS). Our only years, not in the highest level...were 1982-1994.
-
That year...we played 3 of the teams that we would eventally meet (33+ years later) in New Orleans Bowls. (Colo. St; Cincy; Memphis State).
